It now cost $3.78 here in Hawaii. It took a big jump in just a couple of days. How high will it have to get before we can start drilling for oil here? ANWAR alone will replace what we get from the Saudis.

Five years ago they wined that there was no point in drilling because it would take five years before any oil was available. ::)
Well here we are 5 years later. Not many cars run on solar. ::)
Gee, I wonder if high gas prices will affect spiraling food prices and depress employment. ::)

LOL! Have you even seen the area? Half the year it's in complete darkness. Of course, you'll never go there because you can't since it's so remote.
And when the price of oil goes up it effects everything not just the gas in your tank. Everything you have has to be flown, shipped or trucked. The price of food, clothing, housing EVERYTHING goes up. How will this help our already faltering economy.
The profit margin for oil companies ranges from about 7-10%. Microsoft has a profit margin over 30%. You have a problem with companies making a profit? Do you have a job? Do you work for free? Does your company make a profit?
You drive a car? Oil, whether you like it or not, is here to stay for the foreseeable future. The question is do we want to produce our own oil or continue to support terrorist countries that want to kill us.
What would you do?

"They're" getting super rich before "they" crash the system. They want everybody depressed and scared. Thats one of the reason's there isn't going to be NFL football this fall/winter. America loves its football. Without it, depression will set in for many people. Plus 4+ dollar gas, no jobs, chemtrails/weather manipulation to make it extremely cold and rainy. Then comes the crash in 2012.

Yup, so we should irreparably damage a special place. One of the few special places left. An entire ecosystem still intact. An arctic Serengetti where thousands of caribou migrate unhindered e>ery year. A place still untouched by the hand of man. Still unfucked as of yet. For oil.

DECOY POLICE CARS TO BEAT PETROL THIEVES AS PUMP PRICE SOARS
Patrol cars are being parked at petrol station forecourts across the UK to deter thieves

PETROL stations are being given 24-hour police protection as the number of fuel thefts soars.
Patrol cars are being parked at forecourts across the UK to make thieves think that officers are on hand.
Police say the vehicles have already helped to reduce the number of motorists filling up and then driving off without paying as prices hit record levels.
Inspector Neil Ireland, of Suffolk Police said: “Some petrol stations seem to have particularly high numbers of drive-offs, so we decided to trial this idea in our area.
“We are called in to investigate when people drive away without paying for petrol and it can take a lot of time and cost a lot of money.
“The decoy cars are working well and we have certainly seen a reduction in the number of reports.”
As well as people driving off without paying, there has also been a rise in the number of motorists filling up and then claiming they cannot pay.
Many retailers have joined a debt recovery scheme to reclaim the unpaid money. Other petrol stations have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds increasing forecourt security, with improved CCTV cameras and alarms, and padlocks on underground fuel tanks.
Inspector Ireland added: “People need to pay for their petrol. We have even heard of people filling up extra tanks in the boots of their cars.”
As reported in the Daily Express on Wednesday, prices reached their highest level ever this week, with petrol at 130.68p per litre and diesel at 136.14p – just two pence off £6 a gallon.
The AA estimates that, in total, motorists are spending almost £10million more a day on petrol than this time a year ago. Brendan McLoughlin, founder of PetrolPrices.com, said: “Fuel sales are going down as people can’t afford to pay the high petrol prices and there is five per cent less fuel being sold now compared with two years ago.”
SEARCH UK NEWS for:
Over the past year petrol prices have risen by 10 per cent but in the last two months alone they have gone up by 6p a litre.
With concerns escalating about unrest in Libya spreading to other countries, including Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil producer, experts warned that prices will go higher still.
Faith Birol, chief economist of the Energy Agency, said: “The age of cheap oil is over.” There was some respite yesterday, however, as the price of crude oil fell at one point by $3 a barrel to $113.09.
Motoring organisations are calling for the planned April 1 fuel duty increase of 1p per litre plus inflation to be scrapped. Of every pound spent on fuel, 67p already goes on duty and VAT.
Scottish MPs yesterday called on Chancellor George Osborne to drop the proposed increase. Mr Osborne has agreed to consider the matter but has yet to make a final decision.

Amazing how cheap gasoline is. The amount of calories per dollar is fabulous.
Cheaper than milk.
If there was a way to ferment the gasoline and revert it back to fatty acids or carbohydrates food costs would be a non issue.
After all it's a high caloric organic OIL substance, so it should be extremely efficient in terms of energy turnover.
Just have to find a viable converting/fermenting process and good to go
-
okay, I'll do that.
I'm sure everyone in daytona next week will be scared ;D
Some of Tha Outlawz are gonna be in Daytona. If anyone looks at them wrong they are gonna get the shit slapped out of them. We're gonna be doing meth, blasting Lynard Skynard, and gangbanging 45 year old chicks with wrinkled up skin.
And if Tha Outlawz are feeling really rowdy. We might just kill some mother fuckers and eat thier fucking brains and testicles. We are the most psycho biker gang on Earth.

Again, do you drive a car? Do you go to the supermarket and get groceries or do you hunt for your meal? Do you go to the store and buy clothes or do you make them yourself out of tree bark? Do you live in a house or apartment or in a cave?
Everything you have that you didn't make with you own hands is dependent of petroleum. Even that plastic bottle you drink your water out of.
And how have we inflicted irreparable damage on this planet through our use of fossil fuels? Is Texas, an oil State, still able to support life. What about the effect of Prudue Bay on Alaska. How do you define irreparable damage?
And the Serengeti is untouched, eh? Maybe so, but where would you rather live? Where you are now or in Tanzania?
As gas prices continue to increase the price of EVERTHING goes up and literally puts a brake on our already faltering economy. You don't want us to produce more oil. That leaves us at the mercy of importing oil from other countries, many of those countries that want us dead. What do you want to do about it TODAY?

BFRS: I went on holiday once to Daytona and ended up staying 9 months, running the motel I was staying at, prancing about in a swimsuit and carrying a mobile phone. I wore no shoes the entire time, the ocean was right there and there was a 7-11 across the road.
The Spring Break college kids were total drunken assholes, a few got so shit-faced they threw themselves off their balconies, which it turned out, is a common event in Daytona.
The race guys didn't say much, hardly put in an appearance, all you could hear was the drone from the racetrack 24/7. They didn't tip.
And the bikers? They were the best, true gents, every last one of them. So I'm not having your derogatory comments about them. They'd write their phone numbers on $100 bills. Amazing people, they had little u-hauls on the back of their trucks to get 1000 miles to Daytona each year. They smelt of new cameras. I did the whole mess, stayed up 3 or 4 nights, went to parties in tents where they had women naked with snakes and etc. Outside they were paying $1 each to a really worthy charity to take a sledgehammer to a jap bike.
I will not hear a bad word said about bikers, they are polite and nice and kind and lovely.

The US won't drill its own resources until the rest of the world has been tapped out. This is also why we control the Iraqi oil fields but don't exploit. We're sitting on 1 trillion barrels of a peak produced commodity. Basic supply and demand. When the world will pay $1000/barrel to get that sweet, sweet, crude...then we'll open the taps.
You don't maintain an empire by responding to the needs of the citizens...you maintain an empire by controlling resources and access to those resources.
-
China is drilling off the gulf coast...in international waters
Cuba is drilling off the gulf coast
Obama says no drilling off the gulf coast...
hmm so we buy expensive oil from others..middle east of course...and some of the oil we buy or products we buy from china COME FROM MACHINES THAT USE FUEL DRILLED OFF THE GULF COAST.
makes sense ?

I totally agree with you.
Last year at Sturgis. Me and Tha Outlawz rolled in hard. I rode my custom Chopper all the way from Phoenix AZ. I was so high on meth I just rode that shit straight up without even stopping to eat. Just fill up the gas tank and stop at a rest stop to take a few puffs off the glass dick of the shard. That's it.
When we got there some biker broads were naked in a tent, doing some good meth. So me and my boys just pulled a train on those bitches. We even lubed their assholes up with motor oil and gave them an anal pounding. Afterwards we wrote our phone numbers on 100 dollar bills and gave them to the ladies because we are real genetlemen.
Tha Outlawz are the craziest fucking biker gang on Earth! Don't nobody forget it.

get your bug out bags ready
this sounds like a movie trailer that will be made next year doesnt it?

It now cost $3.78 here in Hawaii. It took a big jump in just a couple of days. How high will it have to get before we can start drilling for oil here? ANWAR alone will replace what we get from the Saudis.
I paid 3.69 a couple days ago, same station is at 3.74 this morning.....WTF?

Yeah but in the US you gotta drive like 25 miles to work, 10 miles to the store, 10 miles to a friends house.....
Addicted to oil. They need to build a badass train system and a LOT more busses in the US. But instead they just want everyone to drive a car and consume the maximum amount of oil.
-
I paid $3.79 yesterday and you damn well know who I'm going to blame for this, yes, that's right, the same dumbshits who shut the water down to central california and put 50,000 people out of work...........for a fucking guppy >:(

Anyway dude, you're right. What else can we do. We're fucked no matter how you look at it. Whate>er we do now will just be postponing the ine>itable. Like I said, we'll e>entually just breed oursel>es into extinction. Unchecked population increase will be our undoing in the long run. 7 billion people now, and a projected 9 billion by 2050. The planet and it's resources are finite and don't expand with the rapidly growing population unfortunately. There will be a tipping point e>entually. And after we're gone, the planet will heal.

Like I said, we'll e>entually just breed oursel>es into extinction. Unchecked population increase will be our undoing in the long run. 7 billion now, and a projected 9 billion by 2050. The planet and it's resources are finite and don't expand with the rapidly growing population unfortunately. After we're gone, the planet will heal.
Pretty soon the global elites are going to release some kind of fucked up virus or plague onto the general public. Killing billions.
The head honchos of this world know that there are too damn many people on this Earth. They are about to do something about it.
Hasta la vista people. Get ready for hell.
-
1 billion people are more than enough, not 7+. Unbelie>able that people worry so much about unborn fetuses when there are WAY too many Goddamn people crowding this small rock already...
And yes, I wouldn't be surprised if a sudden "plague" hit.

I'm not sure what you mean about being fucked no matter what or that we are over populated. We produce more than enough food to feed than entire world -- an everybody gets seconds. And this planet isn't even close to being tap out space wise. Ever fly fly LA to New York? Lots of open space. In fact, the entire world's population could fit in the state of Texas quite comfortably. http://lifeissues.net/writers/mos/pri_01texas.html And are fossil fuels finite? I guess they are but are we even close to exhausting the resource? They've been saying for decades that we are running out of fossil fews. In the 1970's it was predicted we would be tapped out by 2010. But guess what? We keep discovering and finding new oil reserves. The shales in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming contain more oil than all of the Mideast countries combined.
I don't know what you mean by a planet healing or how you can tell if it's healthy or sick. There was a time when it was nothing but volcanic eruptions, storms, earthquakes, fracturing of the continents -- and what about that asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs? Nobody was driving cars then.
But whatever. Nothing lasts forever. NOTHING. Even this planet whether it is healed or not. The fact is that we have oil here that we are not allowed to utilize. Everyone else drills wherever they can find oil -- but not us. We just have to buy it from them. And a lot of that money is used to finance our enemies. It doesn't make sense. No one will ever go to ANWR. The caribou will be fine like they are in Purdue Bay. And with directional drilling we will only use a small fraction of that mosquito infested, frozen desert. Imagine ANWR is the size of a football field we will be using one square foot of the area. Is that too much for some degree of oil independence and maintain and even improve of quality of life.
As oil prices goes up everything goes up. EVERYTHING. And the higher the cost of living rises the more economic activity is suppressed. And the more economic activity is suppressed the more ... well, I'll let you figure it out.

There's plenty of w-i-d-e open spaces to live...people just like crowding the coasts....You have uninhabited mountain ranges as well. And then there is the seas....floating cities, or under-water cities, or air cities....

Over here in the UK if you take an average of £1.34 per L then it equates to $9.90 per gallon. You have no idea how luck you are and have no reason to complain in the grand scheme of things.

Exactly - petrol (or gas as they call it in the US) is a fucking rip-off in the UK - the government gets about 80% of it in taxes - and they're possibly putting it up again next month.
I'd love it if we paid US prices.

lucky american bastards
In germany you pay >1,5€ per liter
that's about 8$ per gallon...
FUCK!!!
THE BEEF

Glaringly obvious that many of you from europe have never lived in the US, or even been here for very long, other than a holiday. Having lived in both, it is stupid to compare how "you have it made in the US" with gas prices.....bullshit. You have a very consolidated population and MUCH smaller countries, which allows you to have a very user friendly public transportation system. I KNOW, I used them for 3 yrs. Here in the US, we are much, much more spread out......public transportation isn't terrible in larger cities, but not in the least bit feasible in rural areas. Even the rural areas of europe, you still have train stops, etc....again, because of the converged population.
Americans HAVE to drive their vehicles......and spare me the "we need more trains and buses" bullshit..... it simply will not work except for in large urban areas.
-
Don't bank on it. What shit hole country are you posting from?
probably Australia?

you what? you actually think that public transport works in big cities in small countries? you think that because it's only 50 miles to get to London it'll take less than 2 hours?
you think we're not "spread out"? you think a mother with kids to get to school or fetch shopping, or a musician with a cello and a suit and sheets of music doesn't need a car and could instead just get on a fucking bus?
sorry, but no.
madly xL
please don't assume that you're the only country which needs to rely on cars. You may though be the only country to build millions of miles of highways, sell everyone two cars and then rely on the middle east for oil...
only kidding. the whole world might be screwed, it's not looking positive in the short term.
they're trying to invent electric cars, but...

That's the solution right there...just relocate at least 90% of the world's population to Texas! ;D
Seriously, I ha>e no problem drilling in the arctic or anywhere if it won't ha>e an impact on the en>ironment. But what that impact will actually be is debatable. Corporate owned scientists will always say that there won't be any impact. That's what they're paid to say.
Logging, mining, and hydroelectric interests will take whate>er they can. Hell, they almost dammed the Grand Canyon and Yosemite >alley. And there's >ery little old growth left...sterile tree farms aren't the same thing as a real forest.
As far as the world population, it continues to grow unchecked. When will there be too many? 10 billion? 20 billion? It's gonna crash e>entually. Maybe not in our lifetimes, but e>entually. I guess we'll just let some future generation deal with it.

This is a brilliant posts because most don't consider the reasons why high speed railway never works here in the US and is a horrendous waste of money.

We can always speculate on what will or will not happen in the long run. The long, long run. But as John Maynard Keynes once said, "In the long run we will all be dead."

We can simply look at the impact drilling in Alaska has had since we already drill there in Purdue Bay. In life, there's always going to be trade offs. If I suddenly removed ANWR from the face of the planet with a wave of the wand nobody would notice. The impact on the planet's "healing" ability will be zero. The impact to your, and everybody elses, life will be zero.

Thank you sir, and I agree with your points on the subject too. Here is a population density map of the world.....notice the VAST difference between the US and ALL european countries? Nobody is saying that euro's don't need cars at all, but they do not have to rely on them nearly as much as Americans do....to argue anything otherwise is just plain foolish.

Paid $3.99 (dollars) per gallon today in San Francisco.

I've worked on high-speed rail feasibility studies in florida. In some areas they are actually considered feasible but I still have my doubts. I agree with you and think they won't be productive in america. They are highly expensive for little overall benefit. Americans are more relucant to give up their vehicles and I'm one of them!
I paid 3.60 per gallon several days ago.

How often do you drive? How many miles per week do you put on your car?

Gas took a huge leap in price this last week and we're paying $4.75/Gal here now. It was hovering around $4.00/Gal for the last year or so.

ok then explain why australians are better off than americans?...while we pay $5.50US/gallon and our density is much less and we rely on petrol to feed our spaced out cities..of which there are few, but separated by thousands of miles..

8.7 US dollars per US gallon, I live in Holland and drive a secondhand hybrid. It gets 46 mpg (measured), I drive about 25.000 miles per year.

Most of the world drives 2.0 litre cars or smaller and so will americans before too long.
Inflation and interest rates are headed up real fast that is what happens when you print so much money.
[/i]
Officially, inflation in the US and the EU is very low. It's very easy to manipulate an inflation number, as every citizen of those two area's realizes when he/she sees how much more expensive many things become each year.
Debt is indeed the number one problem of both US and many European countries (and Japan). No major things should happen now, or things will fall apart, as there is no reserve, no savings, no money to cover for a large emergency (earthquake, hurricane, major flood, war etc).
The only thing that keeps investors happy to buy is faith. Which is something that can disappear very quickly. Economic growth in the US was realized with borrowed money. Very risky, and it's artificial growth.
The debtload of many countries is frightening, especially when you add pension costs, and medicare expenses. Many states in the US are bankrupt, and so are many countries. Although the latter still takes some time for people to get used to.....
(And yes, your pension money was also "invested" in such bankrupt States and Countries.....)

Went to fill up the tank since I started this thread and now it's up another 5 cents to $3.83/gallon.
