were talking about bodybuilding judging aka who has the best physique.... who should have won the arnold classic.  when you step on stage it doesnt matter who was lazy, who is strong, who trained hard, who is all drugs, all that matters is what you look like. was flex lazy? i guess so, thats what everybody says. doesnt matter. dude had the best physique of all time.

nah bodybuilding is about who looks the best, size and conditioning play a huge part, but they arent the only criteria. if it were then branch would never win because the dude is small: 5 foot 4 inches.  but yet hes big isnt he? why? because proportions matter. and so does shape and symetry. aesthetics is king, branch has none (well his side tricep and ab/thigh are both pretty good, but otherwise hes crap).

let me make this a little easier for you to understand. 

lets say you have a 20lb steel ball. you try holding it up with a regular size rubber band. the rubber band breaks. now you try a rubber band that is a half inch thick. holds up a little while, but it breaks . now you try a rubber band that is 2 inches thick, it holds the 20lb ball just fine.


or another example, you are trying to tow a 20 thousand pound trailer. first you try to tow it with a mazda miada. no luck. second you try towing it with a 1500 silverado. no luck. third you try a big rig. and it finally tows the 20 thousand pound trailer.


you need more machinery to handle bigger loads.

You should seriously consider taking the entire IFBB pro division under your wing and training them with your knowledge and experience, bro. I bet the line up will be better than the 90s in under a couple of years.

Not only did Branch win, but it wasn't even close.  If you watched the judging, Branch was allowed to return back in line after only one comparison at the night show.  I'm pretty sure this was a straight first victory.

How come you have athletes as skinny as a rake that bench and deadlift plus squat more than alot of BB's do ? they use drugs also to help in there performence plus use different rep ranges in there cycling/training ?

I actualy agree with you to a point - progressive overload within a certain rep range will make your muscles bigger if you are using correct recovery tecniques like diet and drugs etc - but there does come a point when you will not get stronger no matter what you do then there are joints and tendons etc..You cannot use Ronnie as an example as the man is a genetic freak - but your view that progressive overload is the only way to grow is wrong and a narrow mindset to have - you will not agree to this now but in 5 years time once you have some more experience under your belt I bet you will change your mind..A muscle needs stimulation that it is not used to - thats what makes it grow as long as its refed and recovered - progressive overload is one way but there are many others also.

Exactly. Look at guys like Paul Dillett, who trained relatively light and took it easy compared to guys like Ronnie and Doz. No way was Dillett going to add 2 inches to his arms if he started lifting Ronnie's weights (not that he could). At the level of drugs these guys take after years and years of lifting, progressive overload isn't going to contribute to even 10% of their growth.

He's actually gotten worse in the last 2 years compared to his top shape from years ago. He would've won this contest if he was full and had Branch's conditioning, but he got beaten fair and square.

Absolutely...also think that it depends a lot on the indiviual as well. I've seen, what you would call a twink with maybe 15 inch arms benching 190 kgs for a few reps (and found out later he was on sustanon). I myself have never benched 190 but used to rep out with 160 for 10 quite easily but couldn't even do 1 rep with 180. Similarly I could bench 140 for sets of 15. I watched a guy at an old gym of mine who used to reverse grip 140 for sets of 40 reps and could bench well in excess of 220kg for decent reps and had arms that looked like he could barely bench 120 let alone almost double that. And I have seen a genetic freak who, at around 5'8 had almost 20 inch arms, looked amazing - complete package material - almost like a slightly smaller version of Shawn Ray and I never saw him bench more than 120kgs unassisted. In fact judging by how many times I saw him training I don't actually think he could bench more than that although his training partner regularly had to do upright rows and bent over rows with up to 200kgs because that is the way theis guy trained - huge weights but couldn't do any of it unspotted.

In my gym i've seen juicers with 19 inch arms struggling with 250 pounds on the bench, while skinny oly lifters are strict overheadpressing 225 for reps, and squatting 550 for reps. Now go spread your bullshit somewhere else.  Comparing a miata with musclestrength? lmfao, monster analogy.

and according to how bodybuilding contests are judged Branch won hands down , Branch in fact won with straight firsts across the board.

the problem isn't the judges don't know shit about bodybuilding , it's you don't know shit about bodybuilding.

lets say you have a 20lb steel ball. you try holding it up with a regular size rubber band. the rubber band breaks. now you try a rubber band that is a half inch thick. holds up a little while, but it breaks . now you try a rubber band that is 2 inches thick, it holds the 20lb ball just fine.


or another example, you are trying to tow a 20 thousand pound trailer. first you try to tow it with a mazda miada. no luck. second you try towing it with a 1500 silverado. no luck. third you try a big rig. and it finally tows the 20 thousand pound trailer.


you need more machinery to handle bigger loads.

Youre assuming a muscle works like any of the other things in your example.
But this is easily disproven.. a miata wouldnt move that trailer ten feet, yet you have 150 lb twinks benching rediculous amounts, which negates youre whole theory right there.
It has a lot more to do with the how the muscle functions and interacts with other parts of the body, like someone else said, the CNS, leverage (Length of limbs) etc,
I dont know fuck all about the body or musculature, but this is plainly evident.
Youre doing exactly what I used to do, come up with a theory that fits your current experience and how YOU think people should train, and spread it as gospel, and it simply isnt truth.
Like someone else said, as you get older and accumulate more experience youll realize you dont know shit.
At least, thats what happened to me.

It is Wolf that is lazy...  

flex picked up the lazy label when he started having endurance issues from his kidney problems.

i wouldnt say wolfe is lazy but he lifts like a pussy.  his genetic shape from the front is good enough for top 5 in the O or A even when he is half-assing it.  his back several yrs later tells the tail of his true work ethic.

How come you have athletes as skinny as a rake that bench and deadlift plus squat more than alot of BB's do ? they use drugs also to help in there performence plus use different rep ranges in there cycling/training ?

I actualy agree with you to a point - progressive overload within a certain rep range will make your muscles bigger if you are using correct recovery tecniques like diet and drugs etc - but there does come a point when you will not get stronger no matter what you do then there are joints and tendons etc..You cannot use Ronnie as an example as the man is a genetic freak - but your view that progressive overload is the only way to grow is wrong and a narrow mindset to have - you will not agree to this now but in 5 years time once you have some more experience under your belt I bet you will change your mind..A muscle needs stimulation that it is not used to - thats what makes it grow as long as its refed and recovered - progressive overload is one way but there are many others also.

I cant train as heavy as I used to due to injurys alot of that came from following what you preach - i now makesure the muscle is well stimulated - i use shorter rest periods supersets drop sets etc  to keep the muscle guessing and i am bigger and leaner than i was when i was stronger..you will see this as you gain more experience bro.
prgressive overload is not the only way to mae a muscle grow. its posible for a muscle to go through drug use alone.

Exactly. Look at guys like Paul Dillett, who trained relatively light and took it easy compared to guys like Ronnie and Doz. No way was Dillett going to add 2 inches to his arms if he started lifting Ronnie's weights (not that he could). At the level of drugs these guys take after years and years of lifting, progressive overload isn't going to contribute to even 10% of their growth.

He's actually gotten worse in the last 2 years compared to his top shape from years ago. He would've won this contest if he was full and had Branch's conditioning, but he got beaten fair and square.
there is a certain point where a skeletal fram is maxed out. dillet was very close to it. and thats why he wouldnt have grwn much if he started lifting heavier. not ebcause lifting heavier doesnt work. you look at massive ifbb pros all day long and its not going to help you any, cuz all thse gys got where they are by overloading themselves with drugs.

dillet didnt get huge because he trained light and lazy, he got huge because he took loads of drugs and had goo genetic response to them.

In my gym i've seen juicers with 19 inch arms struggling with 250 pounds on the bench, while skinny oly lifters are strict overheadpressing 225 for reps, and squatting 550 for reps. this seems  common idea when ever this subject cmes up. " if size=strength then how come skiny powerlifters can outlift massive bodybuilders??" 

no where didi ever say that odyweight correlated to muscle strength. no did i sa that two pople with the same size muscles will have the same strength. ON ANINDIVIDUAL LEVEL, IN ORDER TO GET BIGGER, DISREGARDING DRUG USE, IS TO GET STRONGER.
