original HE-MALE...saw his show on tv the other day and he was training to shoot the head of matches...offcourse stevee got them...but he said his zen was low that day because he missed two out of ten or so...lethal deadly deadly man
-
What do you mean by "shoot the head of matches?"
-
he shoot the top of a firematch...those things you light up a joint with...and he used ZEN to accomplish that feat
-
He taught Anderson Silva how to do a front kick. Silva dropped Belfort with it exactly as planned. Even though Silva has been champ for many years and Muy Thai specialist, he still didn't know how to do a front kick until Seagal taught him.
Indeed a lethal and deadly, deadly man.

what was the name of that co-host with bas rutten at the old pride events...the fight professor or something macho...he met up with stevee once and stevee wanted to test the professors skills in being lethal...so he grabbed his wrist...aikido style...the professor then grabbed stevee wrist and they kept going back and forth like that for over a minute...then stevee approved of the professor being "really good"

A story...
"Seagal would lose...badly. Read my Judo Gene Lebell thread. Lebell is an old man, although probably still one of the most rugged tough old S.O.B.'s alive. Seagal has a reputation for punking stunt guys, and fight choreographers while making his movies. Basically he tries to intimidate them, numerous reports of Seagal just coming up and hitting a guy in the balls, or grabbing a stunt man's balls and forcing them to the ground. Seagal heard of "Judo" Gene Lebell's credentials and of Lebell's great reputation as not only a great stuntman and fight choreographer, but also a genuine tough guy, with skills and real fighting ability. Seagal obviously buying into his own hype tried to pick a fight with Gene. He told Gene to see if his Judo groundfighting style could take him down. Lebell laughed it off and tried to walk away. Seagal was pushing it though and probably thought Lebell was intimidated. Seagal, reportedly, tried to smack Lebell in the nuts, Lebell stopped it, and somehow got behind Seagal and applied a light choke. Lebell even let go and kind of tapped Seagal on the butt, as in, "that was a good one" type of gesture. Seagal was enraged though and came at Lebell. Lebell told him that he better just back off but Seagal told him that Lebell just got lucky the first time and was lucky he let go when he did. He came at Gene, Gene once again twisted out of an aikido throw or whatever Seagal tried and got behind him. Once again Lebell applied a choke, only this time one that was meant to do damage. Seagal kept fighting, to his credit, and went for Lebell's nuts, reaching behind him, Lebell just tighened his legs around Seagal with lots of pressure and Seagal couldn't get leverage to get his hand to Lebell's nutsack. Then Seagal, in desperation now, tried to get to Lebell's eyes, he reached behind his head but Lebell buried his forehead and eyes into Seagal's shoulder blades. By this time Seagal was about out and going for the eyes did not work. Reportedly, and by many that were there, Seagal was choked unconcious, and then pissed on himself for further humiliation. Seagal has evidently taken Lebell to court, and others, and has tried through legal means to cover up this story. Using the fact that it could be detremental to his acting career, as a "tough guy", and potentially damage his career.
Seagal is a master at his martial art. As a streetfighter, anyone can be beaten, and Lebell is a master of Judo, but no matter what, and no matter how tough Gene is, he's still an old man. And Gene whipped Steven Seagal's ass, and it sounds like he wasn't even really trying. Now imagine Seagal in the octagon, where many of his most devastating moves are illegal and taken away from him.
Don't buy into all this bone breaking bullsquirt. Some of it is true, but Seagal, or no one else for that matter, is as bad as they are in a movie. Lebell's student who is not nearly as big as Seagal, Karo Parisyan , would beat the hell out of Seagal, easily."

Lebell was way more than a Judo master. He did/taught a type of wrestling that was called, at least at the time, Catch-as-Catch-Can Wrestling, which was essentially an anything goes type of submission fighting that included a lot of dirty tricks. Stuff you would do in a street fight. Gene Lebell in my opinion was one of those old school guys who had a type of toughness that you don't get in the gym or dojo. He was a genuine, true blue, bad ass. He's the only one I know (meaning there's probably others) that in his prime may not do particularly well in MMA (he might, I just don't know) but on the street he would school and punished just about anybody. And I mean, punish. When I knew him he was already and old fart and move around it that slightly stiff and almost painful manner. But every time he touched you it would hurt. When he would slowly show you a move it hurt without him really cinching it in. Even when he would grab me by my upper arm to show me a move it would hurt. It like pain just emanated from his finger tips.
I have good friend who works as a stunt man and can confirm the above story about Seagal. I've heard different versions of Lebell's run in with Seagal and this story seems a bit embellished but the common thread is that in the end he brutally punked the Aikido master. (There's also a story where Lebell also put Bruce Lee in his place. Choked him out.) According to my buddy, the stunt men hated Seagal. He was very arrogant and so damn full of himself. He also was very hard of the stunt man. Banging them up when he didn't have to knowing that there's nothing they could do.
Lebell is part of that dying generation of no nonsense men. He had a great personality and sense of humor but came from a time when life was a whole lot harder where sacrifice, deprivation (often self-imposed) and hardship were just accepted as a normal part of life. The idea of whining or complaining about your lot in life was not even a thought. Even though he can be very crass and obscene there was always a certain type of inner pride and dignity that exuded from the man. Just being in his presence made you, well at least me, want to be better man in the old world traditional sense.
Even now, as I become an old fart, whenever I hear Lebell's name I have these Kwai Chang Cain flashbacks and still feel a sense of awe.
Lebell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Seagal

Seriously impressed with Seagal's speed and ability, very fluid. As far as the whole Lebell thing goes, there's always someone tougher/badder and stories like this tend to get very embellished, I'm sure Seagal did get choked out as no one can be 100% all the time but I'm also sure there is a lot of exaggeration in there by people who weren't there.
