The expo today was interesting. The only other bodybuilding shows I've went to in the past were a couple of local shows as well as the Olympia and Arnold. It was nice to be at an expo where the pace was a little slower. Ronnie and Dorian were both at the expo but aside from the two of them, not a whole lot of bodybuilders were walking around. Toney Freeman was there at the X-Pain booth and I saw Rich Gaspari at the Gaspari booth briefly although I didn't see any SIZEON which makes me wonder if the US version can't be sold in Canada due to a banned ingredient. Nice event overall so far.
-
Unfortunately I can't upload any videos to YouTube at the hotel I'm at. Perhaps it's banned or maybe it's just YouTube but I tried it on four separate browsers and nothing. Oh well. I only really got some videos of Ronnie, Dorian, Toney, and Greg Kovacs today. Greg looked to be somewhere between 300-350 pounds at around 6'2. He's definitely huge and looked bigger than pretty well every Ontario Strongman competitor including a friend of mine from my city who is 6'1 and 270, but Greg looked nowhere near as big as he did in his prime. It's crazy to think of how big he was.
-
Most of the booths at the expo were comparable in size to the smallest booths at the Olympia and Arnold. Ronnie's booth, as small as it was, still had a lineup at any given time. Even at the slowest time of the expo at one of the smaller bodybuilding shows, Ronnie still draws a crowd. Also, he's still huge. I have no pictures [just videos I can't upload tonight by the looks of it], but he is easily in excess of 250. I would put his height at 5'10+ while Dorian appeared to be 5'11 but might just have better posture. Early in the day I'm standing right about 5'9 and it's obvious who is taller than me. Ben Pakulski looked like he was my height but he was basically wearing socks for shoes so I think he is 5'10.
-
Frank McGrath looked pretty big from where I was sitting. Bigger than I had expected him to be judging from his "weeks out" photos.
-
If Ronnie competed in this contest, do you think he could have won it? I think he slid down the ranks gradually before retiring and if he won another pro show and then retired - for good that time - it would be kind of a way to go out on top. I honestly can't see why he couldn't win won of the smaller shows.

I wonder what kind of variance we would see looking at the stacks these guys are on. I assume some can afford more than others, yet they are all huge:

Maddy = Matty = a Matt C gimmick? ???
But seriously, the only reason why I'm talking to myself is because you have to add some text to all the photos which get posted so I may as well add something relevant. This thread is kind of like threads on my board, which a lot of people will view, but very few people will post on. Oh well, I suppose bodybuilding is about the visual anyway.
Frank's right triceps not looking too good here:

Hush... he is hard at work can't you see? Now sit back and enjoy the ebony/ivory mountain of muscle show pics.

Pretty well, but the videos I took don't seem to be uploading. :( It's too bad because it was the first time I saw Greg Kovacs in person and to be honest, I don't even recall seeing many [if any] new videos of him. Looks big although obviously a fraction of his former size. Ronnie looks 10 weeks out. Kai wasn't here yet but I'm not sure if he will be tomorrow or not.
Toney Freeman was an ebony mountain of muscle. I can't believe he will be 45 soon.

Dude, was the expo worth it? or waste of time? were they giving out tons of free shit or did they chince up?
-
Brandon Curry looks like a midget up there.
-
cool pics thanks for sharing. as far as ronnie winning a show like this..it would be very possible. even if he came in alot smaller he could..however his torn muscles would hurt him so i don't know. but there isn't much point for coleman to even try..why would he? theres not much money in it.

He's only 5'7 anyway.

No, there were hardly any free samples at all. A few munchies in the way of protein bar pieces on toothpicks but that's about it. The Gaspari booth was generous as usual, but otherwise, no.

That chic on the left gave me a shitload of stuff, two t-shirts, bunch of samples, shaker cup, etc.

LOL!!!!!!!! Are you saying I should include the penis haircut AND silk robe for the Olympia?
PS - I got a tub of Myofusion at the end of the expo. They were clearing it out for $45 so I figured I may as well buy a review copy.

Serious question for everyone: Aren't all protein supplements basically the same? Why is Gaspari being singled out as producing bent wares? Am I missing something? I think the most successful company will ultimately be the one that does the best marketing/behind the scenes business side of things, not necessarily the company that produces the best product. The Gaspari booth is no doubt in my mind the most generous booth though. Tom Hoops, Gaspari's National Sales Manager, gave me eight free REAL MASS sample packs with my purchase and I got a free shirt, lifting straps, and sample of Myofusion for signing up to their newsletter. Not sure why the company is under so much scrutiny lately to be honest. Is Ron Kramer jealous of Rich?
And yes, why are people being mean to me? ???

Are you saying that no supplements are worth taking? That the entire industry is bent and it's all just a joke? Or are you saying this is only partly the case?

i didnt kno it was a protein supp. those are worth the money if priced right, as they can actually save money as compared to chiccken breasts or other protein options. yeah, protien is protein.

I can't eat worth anything. Whatever protein I get from protein shakes is basically all I get. I'm honestly beginning to think that I could eat every other day and still feel fine. I'm realistic though, so I am shooting for a 500 deadlift and 350 bench within a month or two at 160 pounds. I don't think it would be possible for me to get stronger unless I start to eat more and I have no desire to do that. I used to be impressed with all strong some guys were, but now I'm growing more and more impressed with how some can eat so much.

are you saying that EVERYTHING you've tried ( reviewed ) was worth what was being asked from people to pay for ?
-
are you saying that EVERYTHING you've tried ( reviewed ) was worth what was being asked from people to pay for ?
Well...initially, yes.
Going back to 2000-2003, I spent around $1,000 on MuscleTech supplements alone. I bought into the ads and didn't know any better. In 2000 I was 18 so I think I had an excuse to be naive. At that time, I probably thought that only the top bodybuilders used steroids and some of the guys outside the top 10 were natural. I just didn't know any better and had an excuse at that point in time. For the longest time I was getting free supplements for review but since then I have decided to pay for all supplements to see if that makes me reconsider being as generous with some of the reviews.
As for now, my opinion has changed. I would actually probably recommend doing without supplements and focus on nutrition instead, but for those like myself who can barely eat, I think protein shakes help. As for SIZEON and a select few other products, I maintain that it works, and incredibly well at that.
It was actually getbig which caused me to stop using supplements for three years, between 2004-2007. I was a bit disappointed at GOATBOY who had convinced me that all supplements are crap when this isn't exactly the case. In an industry filled with snake oil, there are still some gems out there. It's just that contrary to my naive views of 2000, they aren't all gems.
How much money does Rich Gaspari make in a year?

Agreed, Gaspari was giving out tons of goodies! I got 2 sets of those lifting straps and probably 5 samples of product, they have always been good at expo's, though I've noticed muscletech for the first time got super chince
they weren't throwing out t shirts like crazy like at older expo's and now threw out a t shirt maybe once every 20 min instead of throwing them out to everybody with samples of hydroxycut and nitro tech, really dissapointed in them. The last time I went to a pro show I came home with maybe 6 muscletech t shirts (they were throwing them out by the handful)

No amount of protein powder will ever replace a nice 8oz chicken breast of steak.

Didn't see you either but I was the asshole that kicked everybody out of the theater after the Ontario (lol) and brought them back in for the pro show. I even caught a few people trying to hide, lol. When the show was done I saw Matt C but he was going up the ascalators in the oppisite direction
