Ron Paul is one point behind Newt Gingrich in one of the latest Iowa polls, 21-22. I think this is big news: "Gingrich’s favorability rating has declined 19 points among Iowans since last week." That's BIG news and MAJOR trouble for Newt... if Ron Paul can keep this up, he could eek out a win in Iowa.
Anyway, here's the article: http://dailycaller.com/2011/12/13/in-iowa-paul-closes-to-within-one-point-of-front-runner-gingrich/#ixzz1gWX12vlm (http://dailycaller.com/2011/12/13/in-iowa-paul-closes-to-within-one-point-of-front-runner-gingrich/#ixzz1gWX12vlm)

Down 1/5 in favorability - In a single week.
I can't even wrap my mind around that number.

Ron pauls' ads are really killing him.
Even on FR - there is a little change of heart I am seeing.
-
I'd seen some of the ads, and knew he had a huge ad buy. I guess Iowa voters are pretty saavy.
I can't wait to hear how the media will treat ron paul's win, if he can pull off 1st or 2nd in Iowa.
"A fluke! Voter suppression! Over-achieving!"
hahahahahahahha He's not in their pocket like the rest of them.

Amazing, isn't it? If Ron Paul can keep this up for for the next two weeks, he stands a chance of winning Iowa. The crazy thing is that Ron Paul doesn't even have to gain any votes in Iowa - all he has to do is divert the Gingrich vote toward anyone but Mitt Romney.
-
oh, if they're supporting gingrich, they ALREADY hate romney!

It all started with the "serial hypocrisy" ad.

the other factor that scares the living shit out of me about newt is women voters.
When women hear Ron Paul has been married to the same woman for 5o years and delivered 4000 babies, they will rush to him.

yeah, my wife and her sister were all concerned about the cain sexual allegations.
I'm like "who cares if they're lying - he's an incompetent dumbass and he handled the situation like shit and lied - those women just might be lying'.
They cared more about how he treated women. I had never considered that to be a factor.
And yes, against obama, who is the perfect family man, newt will lose women. If Obama was on his THIRD WIFE, oh you bet your pretty white ass it'd be brought up nonstop ;)

ron Paul or Bachmanm , even hints or Santorum, are the only ones I like. Perry, Romney, newt = yuck.
-
does FR still have the ban on supporting romney?
-
i used to dislike santorum like crazy. he's a little naive and a schoolbook, but he is a very safe thinker and would be a fine president.
Really anyone on the GOP side would do a fine job as president. Mitt would do a good job. Newt would probably do an evern better job. But it is about beating obama. Sadly, I think Mitt has a much stronger chance with soccer moms, with soccer dads, with people who dislike anger and rage.

technically yes. But newt has now been beaten down a few pegs. Between Romney or newt I prefer Romney.

so without cain - who is their #1 there? who's #2? is it okay to praise ron paul?

Someone please inform Ron that 240's account has been temporarily highjacked by a rational person.

Please ::)
There is nothing rational about supporting the current Republican field. Practically every candidate is a complete failure when it comes to foreign policy.

I supported Ron Paul in 08, and have done the same this time... but if and when he does not win the republican primary, I will not do as you by sitting in the corner pouting, instead I will vote for anyone that is going against Obama in the main election, as he is a tsunami of economic destruction, and as 240 wrote: any one of the republicans would be a step up.

obama is destroying this nation by the day. His decision alone on this Keyston Pipeline situation is madness.
He is like a slavemaster

1) I won't pout in the corner. I'll vote for someone who won't destroy this country, probably for the Libertarian Party candidate.
2) Your vote doesn't matter anyway. The least you could do is sell it out to someone who doesn't represent your values.
3) Sure, the GOP would be a step-up, but a step-up from the bottom rung of Hell doesn't count for much, now does it?

Obama thanks you! as your vote will be another vote towards leaving him in office for another 4 years (by splitting the anti-Obama vote)

You do realize that you have a much, MUCH greater chance of dieing in a car crash on your way to the polls than you do of actually swinging the election, right?
Besides, Obama has become practically moot in the past few months and this has happened even though the Democrats control the White House and the Senate. If Republicans take back the Senate but not the White House, Obama will have no power. And at the very least, a split vote between the LP and the GOP will teach future GOP candidates to move toward the libertarian wing of the party.
Also, if a Mitt Romney or a Newt Gingrich is elected President, then the GOP is setting itself up to lose to another Obama in the next couple election cycles. Those are just the facts.
So by supporting anyone but Obama, you are in essence setting up this country for a continual cycle between terrible Presidents and bad Presidents.
-

the entire GOP crop is maybe 5% different from one another in terms of policy, and in terms of what they'd actually do in office.*
Right now, we're basically just arguing about which canddiate will be most "sell-able" to moderate, swing voters.
newt will punch obama in the mouth and bne snide and rude - dudes will love that, girls won't. Mitt is vanilla and might not be as exciting.
*Ron Paul is probably the only outlier, of course.

What state do you live in?

I live in Metro Detroit. My Congressman actually ran for President... Thaddeus McCotter.

Yea you're right...I shouldn't even vote then ::)
Another 20 something know it all... You're probably not even registered to vote yet.

At this point - I would vote for the unibomber / Zodiak killer over obama. Those two start out with a better chance of being a good president than an obama second term.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't vote. I am saying that given the chances of your vote actually swinging the election, you should vote for someone who actually represents your views.
And as I pointed out, a vote for Mitt or Newt is a vote for Obama 2 in the next election cycle or two.
-
Have you soured on Kimbo Slice?
Kimbo / Mumia is also a viable alternative to obama no doubt. Anyone blaming ATM machines for job losses is beyond help.

FYI Ron Paul has an "R' after his name (instead of an 'I" or "L") for a good reason.
But continue on with your great advice ::)

Then continue to support Paul, but if he loses in the primary, then hold your nose and vote for whatever Republican we get, as much as he or she stinks (which might be allot) as they are still better than Obama... especially when it comes to Supreme Court picks. As at this current time a vote for an Independent is a vote for Obama by splitting the anti-Obama votes, but of course if you think your one vote doesn't count, or that a vote for another republican (besides Paul) is only a "small step up" and not worthy of your vote, then go sit in the corner...or vote for an Independent, as both will have the same effect. This in part is the same reason as to why Ron Paul has an 'R' after his name.

Ron Paul has an "R" after his name because his goal is to change the Republican Party... if you think that will be accomplished by voting the same old crew into office, then you're wrong. The point is to get a new kind of Republican elected, the Ron Paul kind. By voting for WHOEVER the GOP nominates, you're defeating that purpose. Republican candidates need to be taught - be more libertarian, or at least more fiscally conservative, or forget about winning elections from here-on-out.

yep, just as I thought... ;D

2) Your vote doesn't matter anyway.
Yes it does. Florida in 2000 taught us that lesson.

How many votes changed the Florida election? And how many millions of people in other states had no say whatsoever?

A comparative handful of votes changed the election in Florida. Every vote counts.

If you live in NYC, Illinois, Detroit, or other leftist strongholds your vote might actually count 5-6 times if its for the demo.

Really... because last I remember the 2000 election didn't come down to a single vote. It came down to a couple hundred. It was not a case of "every vote counts."

If a couple hundred votes out of 6 million decided an election, then yes, every vote counted.
-
Uhmmm, nope. There isn't a difference if 100 votes or if 101 votes decides who wins. Especially in the American electoral system, where literally hundreds of millions of people were sitting on the sidelines.
