Waiting for the results of his Mylegram
-
what is wrong and what is a mylegram?
-
He still looks retarded even as a hospital patient.

what is wrong and what is a mylegram?
(as pic)
http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/myelogram-16147 (http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/myelogram-16147)
A myelogram uses X-rays and a special dye called contrast material to make pictures of the bones and the fluid-filled space (subarachnoid space) between the bones in your spine (spinal canal). A myelogram may be done to find a tumor, an infection, problems with the spine such as a herniated disc, or narrowing of the spinal canal caused by arthritis.
The spinal canal holds the spinal cord, spinal nerve roots, and the subarachnoid space.
During the test, a dye is put into the subarachnoid space with a thin needle. The dye moves through the space so the nerve roots and spinal cord can be seen more clearly. Pictures may be taken before and after the dye is used. To get more information from the test, a CT scan is often done after the X-rays, while the dye is still in your body.

I wonder where he gets insurance?...
-
Back hernia diagnostics. That's why his lats are disappearing....
-
I wonder where he gets insurance?...
I wonder what he tells the insurance if they ask him if he has to take any "medications" on a regular basis?
-
very sad news
-
I wonder where he gets insurance?...
I wonder if he has a pension from the police dept? if so, they usually get insurance for life if they've completed their 20 years.
Not sure how long he was a cop though?
-
3...2...1...Undiagnosed heart condition.
-
I have a crack in my spine. what they do is inject you with iodine to get a better look if your getting x-rays/MRI
-
He needs to be a "lightweight" Ronnie Coleman...
-
damn, I hate father time.....he always know where and when to get you
-
We all reap what we sow.
I wonder if the slut will stay with him when he s 150 lbs again, no money or most of it going into hospital expenses, no job, no more travels and "guest posing".
-
Waiting for the results of my Mylegram, seems these days I just live in the hospital, oh well
-
He looks happy in the hospital bed.
-
He looks happy in the hospital bed.
Good for him as that s where he ll probably have to spend the last decade of his life after abusing inhuman amounts of drugs for his whole existence.
Our body can only take so much abuse. The problem is that when it starts going wrong at such an advanced age, it quickly turns into a chain reaction.
-
He looks happy in the hospital bed.
Looks pretty fucked up to me.
-
Good for him as that s where he ll probably have to spend the last decade of his life after abusing inhuman amount of drugs for his whole existence.
Hopefully not.
-
Looks pretty fucked up to me.
He's probably drugged up.
-
Hopefully not.
Not very christian of his to disrespect his body for so long for money. At some point you ve got to expect a backlash. He traded health for money. Let's see if it was worth it.

Ego probably more so than money.

LEt s hope he invested into some serious businesses and that he is set for the rest of his life cause i dont see him working a normal job anytime soon.

Racist post reported!
-
I injured my low-back 30 years ago & i still have a slipped spinal disc, caused by heavy T-bar rowing and doing too many dead-lifts.
-
he's dying for your sins, bitches
-
I wonder if he has a pension from the police dept? if so, they usually get insurance for life if they've completed their 20 years.
Not sure how long he was a cop though?
He does. He probably has insurance via the Arlington Police Department.
-
somehow i'm not surprised....
-
I didnt know he worked 20 years as a cop and has a pension for the rest of his life.
-
LOL
Guy who have lifted sum' 30 years has back problems and people here act like he is going to die because of steroids... ::)
OMG! Sum' stupid democracy mongers around here. Everybody with lifting background like Big Ron will eventually have back problems.
Get this in your skulls !!
-
He looks happy in the hospital bed.
Retards always look happy...
-
LEt s hope he invested into some serious businesses and that he is set for the rest of his life cause i dont see him working a normal job anytime soon.
Shut the fuck up already you pathetic fag. He won't need to work a normal job, he's set for life. 1.6 mill just from his 8 olympia's, also his bsn contracts, guest posing, and sponsorships he's a multi millionaire. Doing much better than your bitch ass. And don't say what's Christian and not Christian. You don't have the right to judge.
-
Given the size of his gut, is he pregnant with Bay's "muscle baby"?
-
Is the "Health and Fitness" industry about to lose it's greatest rep?
-
he's dying for your sins, bitches
;D
Hopefully big Ron will be okay!
-
Shut the fuck up already you pathetic fag. He won't need to work a normal job, he's set for life. 1.6 mill just from his 8 olympia's, also his bsn contracts, guest posing, and sponsorships he's a multi millionaire.
LOL
You wanna calculate what he spent on drugs and food to get there? I guarantee you, at least 70 % of his prize money.
-
So fucking what? He's great bodybuilder, legend of this sport. I've got tired of pseudointellectual morons like uberman or reeves. What did you guys accomplish in your life?
-
So fucking what? He's great bodybuilder, legend of this sport. I've got tired of pseudointellectual morons like uberman or reeves. What did you guys accomplish in your life?
Empty barrels are the loudest, they say.
-
LOL
You wanna calculate what he spent on drugs and food to get there? I guarantee you, at least 70 % of his prize money.
No.
His sponsors pay for that. Jay Cutler's muscletech contract was a little over 1 million a year while reigning Mr. O. Let's even be generous and say ronnie only made 700k a year from his bsn. Drugs, food, whatever else he needs is easily covered by 150k per year, leaving all the money leftover from his sponsorships each year, prize winnings, guest posings, etc to go into his bank account. And also, every pro gets their travel expenses and food and hotel paid for by their sponsors when they do a guest posing or expo. So that's even more money.
-
Money is irrelevant here. He's a legend, he accomplished something huge in his life. All those morons here who criticise him are useless internet nonames who spent 90% of their times on internet boards becouse they have no job, no passion, no money, nothing.
-
What's sad is that if Ronnie will suffer from his drug use some decades from now, very few people will care at that point.
I injured my low-back 30 years ago & i still have a slipped spinal disc, caused by heavy T-bar rowing and doing too many dead-lifts.
Rows and deadlifts didn't wreck your back, it was probably YOU yourself. ::)
-
It's gonna be a girl I think lol!
Aside the joke, i wish the best to the best bodybuilder ever
-
I wonder if he has a pension from the police dept? if so, they usually get insurance for life if they've completed their 20 years.
Not sure how long he was a cop though?
The insurance for life only happens if you pay the premiums. 20 yr retirements are a thing of the past in Texas. Usually the 80 point system, age plus years of service
-
Money is irrelevant here. He's a legend, he accomplished something huge in his life. All those morons here who criticise him are useless internet nonames who spent 90% of their times on internet boards becouse they have no job, no passion, no money, nothing.
And the sad thing about all this Morons here is that they feel extremely happy of seeing a Legend in the hospital bed!! even if you dont like him at least once you watched him on the scene or video and got some motivation to go and train. he achieved something nobody of you even able to dream about. i wish him health and a very long life.
-
I thought myelograms for a thing of the past? Most use contrasted MRI's or contrasted CT's to look at spinal cord and bone issues?
-
LOL @ people assuming he's broke. How the fuck would you know? ::)
The guy was the best BBer on the planet for a decade and made a shit-ton of money during that period, and by all accounts is a down-to-earth person who isn't out getting fucked up every night, and, by the way, has an accounting degree ;).
Now I realize the average getbigger laughs at what he made, but I would imagine he's in good shape financially. That being said, I don't know any better than anyone else, but at least I'm not assuming he blew 15 million dollars on steroids and food ::) Fucking people say the stupidest things around here
-
Did anyone else bother to look at Ronnie's hands?
What is going on there?
Poor soul can't even indulge in the basic pleasures of picking his nose or ears.

My guess is it's some gh related inflamation.

People like to live in a world they feel is orderly, a person becomes famous for epic drug use we expect him to die for that shit, just the same with steve irwin. Order in the chaos, anyhow insert fathers and sons and all that.
-
SAd.
Somebody did mention on this board that he was taking meds (besides roids) just can't recall who was it.
WOOOSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHH
-
Does he look happy Booty? His bloodshot eyes is the ones of a dug up corpse!
-
Does he look happy Booty? His bloodshot eyes is the ones of a dug up corpse!
His eyes are bloodshot from crying, when they put that 22 gauge 3.5 inch needle in between in disc space and injected that dye! :o
-
I wonder if he has a pension from the police dept? if so, they usually get insurance for life if they've completed their 20 years.
Not sure how long he was a cop though?
he started to work for the APD around 1988-89 i guess
he once told in a intervie that he s still working a few days a year for the APD to maintain his reserve officer state, what will give him continued insurance

wrong noob, ronnie is a man ;)
Your probably right! I stand corrected! :)
-
To me...this is the price you pay for decades of heavy steroid and GH abuse. He's still HUGE, I'm sure if you saw him in person you would be like "Holy shit!!".... but he looks TERRIBLE.
Here's a guy who was the greatest Bodybuilder to ever walk the planet, the freak of all freaks.... and I can say with a straight face I'd rather look like me than him now
EDIT: not to take away all of his accomplishments, he's the greatest ever.....I'm just saying it must suck to have been the greatest ever and now you're all torn up and your body is just SHOT from all the drugs

Nothing is for ever! we all goin die anyway so what the hell, he made history won the Mr O many times plus arnold classsic etc ! At least he left his mark on this world and did something with his life! Who wants to get really old anyway? Its a shit life being old fuck that! :(
-
Yeah that's why I never became Mr Olympia, because I knew later in life I would regret it when I was still over 200lb with veins getting a minor hospital visit to check on problems that I probably would have gotten anyway from general training.
-
We all reap what we sow.
I wonder if the slut will stay with him when he s 150 lbs again, no money or most of it going into hospital expenses, no job, no more travels and "guest posing".
Fuck you are an idiot, what have you accomplished???
Ronnie is going down as one of, if not the top bodybuilder in history.
while you might go down as the most annoying poster an an anonymous message board...
You truly are a fucking nobody, a nothing, insignificant... Your life is meaningless. You will not be remembered.
-
.... and I can say with a straight face I'd rather look like me than him now
Even if he was still in his prime, I think most would much rather have your physique over his any day.
The size Ronnie had was inhuman and quite frankly not practical in a functional manner and certainly not aesthetic pleasing.

So just because he was motivated to read couple of books during his youth he can't possibly be (financially) an idiot?
-
Live for now be the best you can be and then die! If coleman dies tomorrow it doesn't matter he lead a life of a living god on earth and loved every minute of it!!! Life is about the quality not the quantity!!! :)

The obvious, he's king of the freaks, hardly something worth dieing for, he's like an old sideshow act on his last lag of his tour.
-
his hands are still massive.
-
I injured my low-back 30 years ago & i still have a slipped spinal disc, caused by heavy T-bar rowing and doing too many dead-lifts.
do you also compete in powerlifting,Musclecenter?
what's your deadlift PR?
-
yes, I'm sure the drugs screwed up his back...

"read a couple of books" ::) Listen i'm not a member of the Ronnie Coleman fan club, but you're assuming quite a bit here. Who's to say he isn't financially very smart ? at least my assumption has a basis in fact, the man has an accounting degree, and he's generally regarded as a down to earth person.
What are you basing your assumptions on? because he talks funny? ::)
You don't stay at the top of your chosen profession for over a decade by being an idiot, no matter what you do. thousands of "next big things' have come and gone...and the dude is still pulling a nice salary from bodybuilding 13 years after he won his first title. he's doing something right
-
ill always remember Ronnie as the 315 pounds with abs and veins in his legs freak that i met in person 10 years ago, most muscle BY FAR ive ever seen on a human being in my life, muscle literally HANGS off of this guy, had the hardest hands ive ever shook hands with as well, most pros have big squishy GH hands, Ronnies were like 100 year old Oak.
-

People generally assume that people with Southern accents are slow and dim-witted...having family from the rural South, I can tell you otherwise.
If you remember the stereotype of the Southern Lawyer (like Matlock), who wore searsucker suits, and suspenders, and talked in Southern Euphenisms---slow, deliberate, and very folksy---people loved that, and warm up to it...just like Ronnie Coleman...always had a smile on his face, and kept it simple when he talked---actually it is harder to make something simple than to make something complicated...
The man lives in Texas where property is cheaper than other parts of the states, had a few cars like a Bentley Continental GT, and a 90s Viper (The Bentley was quicker), has a few kids...he wasn't very extravagant. He's probably invested his money

Yup...and i first wrote "talks country" but most people don't know what that is. Like I said, this ain't rocket science, but at the very least, you have to be disciplined and a professional to stay on top as long as he did..these things translate into all aspects of your life. the man is no fool

I hope he recovers, and is OK.

I met Ronnie around the time at the Missouri BB Championship, he was out of this world!!

Ronnie Coleman almost died for you bitches.
-
Hope he's still healthy overall.
His well set - with or without a greedy woman at his side.

Few guys made good points here. Most people mistake being eloquent with intelligent. Intelligence is an ability to solve problems, that's it. I know guys far superior to ANYONE here who even in their mother tongue use simple, sometimes even vulgar language. I'm sorry, but you cannot become intelligent by reading few fucking books and copying "smart" words and phrases like monkeys. It's an ability you inherit and then develop in youth, once you are mature it's over, you're stuck with your brain for the rest of your life.
Back to Ronnie, from people that work for MD I hear he's indeed kinda slow and suffers from serious financial problems. It's not due to drug usage, at his level you get gear and gh for laughable price. He didn't invest his money too well and spent most of his winnings on cars and stuff like that. He was blessed to have people around him that contributed to his success. Of course, his alien genetics came in handy as well. He's one of few guys who really have good genes, not only brag about them.
-
I wonder if he has a pension from the police dept?
no, he got fired and had to give up his pension

and what exactly are the ill health effects of using lots of hormones?
Not very christian of his to disrespect his body for so long for money. At some point you ve got to expect a backlash. He traded health for money. Let's see if it was worth it.
the teachings of jesus were based on being honest to others and treating them with love and respect. not preserving your life for as long as possible.

thing is, he didn't have that many cars---and I don't know if he bought the Bentley (which is sold) used. And I can't really go off what the people at MD say---as it was Flex who burned thru cars (multiple Benzes, SUVs,Dodge Chargers, Harleys, Cadillacs).

Haha, I have read Flex really rolled with sum' style back in da day 8)
Dude had cars like sum' F1 driver LOL
I remember in one of his videos, he came to gym with two cars because he "couldn't make his mind which car to take today".. HAHAHA Big Money !!

Ronnie should stick to 1.5 myelograms per lb of lean body weight...

Nothing personal but i don't put too much stock in that. For one Ronnie only bought a couple of cars, so the facts are off right from the jump...sounds like someone is talking shit over at MD

So says you, perhaps the greatest follower of the Christ to ever grace these pages. I'm in awe of your wisdom. Your grace, your munificence exceed the combined wonder of the Apostles. Nah. Fuck your noise, you butt monkey. Coleslaw is no Christian. He's a fucktard drug user.
But then this sort of drivel is what we have all come to expect from you. You're just wishing Coleslaw would fuck your ass so your life would be complete. FTN.

Oh lawdy, how could you? You said that Ronnie is "kinda slow" and "suffers from serious financial problems". You have insulted The Legend. How dare you?
You should be sent to Banned Camp. Don't worry, they don't teach you to play the skin flute there. That's tbombz Camp Minidcokaindabooty and I doubt you want to go there. "you should be banned"... FTN.

Ronnie was cool as fuck when I met him at the toronto pro show this year.
I was shy as I personnally think it's fucked up asking a complete stranger for a picture but I still did since I will probably never see him again as I won't attend bodybuilding shows much in the future 8)

I'm talking about something very obvious and real. his physique is shot from all the years of megadosing...one look at the man will tell you that.

(as pic)
http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/myelogram-16147 (http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/myelogram-16147)
He's wrapped up like that for a back INJURY? As in, result of just lifting too heavy?
Or is this something that is a result of sensitive things in that area growing unnaturally late in life?
Is this just a standard operating procedure for back issues from training?
-
Hoping for a speedy recovery Ronnie. Stay Strong...

Ronnie's a cool dude - Met him back in the mid to late 90's @ the Mrs Olympia in Chicago. He was massive - also a real nice guy. Man - his hands don't look good @ all. I hope he gets better.

That being said, I don't know any better than anyone else, but at least I'm not assuming he blew 15 million dollars on steroids and food ::) Fucking people say the stupidest things around here
Lets say Ronnie is the only legit Black millionaire of the IFBB today. And you say he made 15 million. I myself say its probably closer to 5 million but Semitics. Its not like Ronnie is some sort of Republican uncle Tom. This Negro spent a shit load of money over the years. Basketball players have just about everything paid for and they still go broke. Its not hard to theorise why a close to 50 year old ex Mr. Olympian is still doing boat loads of gear and sweezing into women's thongs that are 3 sizes to small while he poses to music that that 90% of all cops hate with a passion :-\
-

Yes they are giving him fluids in a IV in the Left arm, and could cause some swelling in the hand. He does have some big gh paws. Remember he just recoved from back surgery and this looks like a anterior cervical fusion surgery.
-
Get well soon Ronnie.
-
Money is irrelevant here. He's a legend, he accomplished something huge in his life. All those morons here who criticise him are useless internet nonames who spent 90% of their times on internet boards becouse they have no job, no passion, no money, nothing.
Lets be honest bro. The only reason you think being Mr. Olympia is "something huge in life" is because Arnold parleyed that into a movie career. If Arnold didn't exist, the Mr. Olympia title would still be seen only from the homosexuals who went to the contests. Its a queer sport! Its always been a queer sport. Arnold made it some what Unqueer. But most everyone knows why Arnold was given his Hollywood acting gigs. ;)

The obvious, bodybuilding is for fags, or dude that can`t handle team sports but still wanna oggle a superstar.
No one here is gonna know his finances he made some money and spent alot of money, my guess is he ain`t broke, but I doubt he`s planning any big purchases in the near future.
P.S. business people are the lowest form of students, they do what they do because they don`t have any real interest but go with the simple fact I need something that will make me money, hardly the recipe for genius. I know lots of business students who debt ridden just like anyone else, poor self control, or ego centrism, will lead anyone to ruin.
-
LOL
You wanna calculate what he spent on drugs and food to get there? I guarantee you, at least 70 % of his prize money.
Ron would not have payed for drugs for a very very long time at least since he stepped his toes into the pro ranks , maybe extra gh but notAAS type drugs , he would of been sponsored.

He has a lot of money, many cars..etc.. but I can't see the point if his health is failing.

I'm assuming that whenever Ronnie goes to the hospital he's being fairly honest about his cycles to the doctor.. I'd love to see the face of said doctor when he/she hears it.

Homosexuals? I'm straight and watch every bodybuilding contest. I perceive bodybuilding as a form of art. Of course, there are hardly any artistic values in today's bodybuilding shows, but well... That's completely different topic.

Not to bust your balls but why would you still watch every Bbing contest if it lacks what you're looking for.
No problem man, that's great question actually. Once in a blue moon there is a competitor that looks somewhat different and artistically OK. He's not placed high most of the time, but well... That's the only bodybuilding we have, it's far from what I wanted it to become, but whatever. People who took over have no taste, they think that shredded glutes and big muscles make someone impressed, they don't. Arnold was step forward compared to everyone else not only becouse he was bigger, but becouse he was so unique. Level of presentation is also laughable now, most people suck at posing which makes them look even more grotesque... But still we have guys like Melvin, you know.
Honestly in my opinion Ronnie was far better when he was young. I've seen his early pictures, he was outstanding. Incredible muscle density and quality, he lost all of it later in his career. Ridiculous as modern bodybuilding standards are, his 2003 physique was in those standards better by far than everyone else in the history and I do acknowledge that. So even though his 2003 physique ruined bodybuilding and made everyone try to resemble him I still admire what he accomplished. You know, sometimes you just have to separate personal opinions from facts.
-
I'm going to go on a hunch here and say that he wasn't in the hospital just for "back problems".
Instead, I am going to wager and say that he instead went in to have some sort of orthopedic surgery and judging by the neck brace he is wearing, I am guessing he had a procedure done to his cervical spine (Probably a decompression). The brace was probably used to provide immobilization pre/post cervical spine surgery and that gauze pad you see immediately to the right of that brace is probably the entry point as many cervical spine surgeries are approach with an anterior incision.
Also, he has two things on that bed directly next to his hands, one is the call bell/remote control (Which has a button to call in the nurse and a few other buttons to control the TV above him) the other button which is conveniently gripped with his huge left hand is a Grey button that is used to control a PCA (Patient controlled Analgesia) pump.
Typically after minor same day surgeries, there is very little need to have a patient on a PCA pump, as a few narcotics would do the trick.
My guess is that big Ron has a few spine issues that have recently sent him in for surgical work.
Good luck big sexy!

There is nothing wrong with the male physique my dear child. Why tarnish something so beautiful as that of a well built man with a beautiful penis by trying to physically morph it into appearing like that of a female body?
Why I have many friends that are transsexuals, I do not necessarily agree with their decision to surgically and chemically alter their bodies to resemble that of women.
I am a fan of men. I am a fan of cock. I am GAY.

The procedure they did is a Anterior Cervical Disectomy and Fusion (ACDF) of C4-C5 C5-C6 and C6-C7.
i am lazy n i don't have time to write up an explanation. This is the wikipedia explanation of the procedure
Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a surgical procedure to treat nerve root or spinal cord compression by decompressing the spinal cord and nerve roots of the cervical spine in order to stabilize the corresponding vertebrae. This procedure is used when other non-surgical treatments have failed.
Anterior cervical discectomy
The nucleus pulposus (the jelly-like center of the disc) of the herniated disc bulges out through the annulus (surrounding wall) and presses on the nerve root next to it. This nerve root becomes inflamed and causes serious pain. The problem can also be caused by degenerative disc disease (spondylosis). The disc consists of about 80 % water. When one grows older, the disc starts to dry out and shrink, causing small tears in the annulus and inflammation of the nerve root.
The neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon enters the space between two discs through a small incision in front (= anterior) of and at the right or left side of the neck. The disc is completely removed, as well as arthritic bone spurs. The disc material, pressing on the spinal nerve or spinal cord, is then completely removed. The intervertebral foramen, the bone channel through which the spinal nerve runs, is then enlarged with a drill giving the nerve more room to exit the spinal canal.
To prevent the vertebrae from collapsing and to increase stability, the open space is often filled with bone graft, taken from the pelvis or cadaveric bone. The slow process of the bone graft joining the vertebrae together is called "fusion". Sometimes a titanium plate is screwed on the vertebrae or screws are used between the vertebrae to increase stability during fusion, especially when there is more than one disc involved.
The surgery requires a short stay in the clinic (1 to 3 days) and a gradual recovery between 4 to 6 weeks. However, the technology has advanced and it can be performed by 'Endoscopic Micro Discectomy" with the patient able to continue his normal life in two days.

Homosexuals? I'm straight and watch every bodybuilding contest. I perceive bodybuilding as a form of art. Of course, there are hardly any artistic values in today's bodybuilding shows, but well... That's completely different topic.
I'm straight also. But the Arnold factor can't be denied. Arnold made it ok for straight guys to look at other guys in thongs. :D

So you forfeited a job helping people to look for one in a soul destroying, immoral industry, all because it payed better?

P.S. Not all financial firms are soul-destroying or immoral. My firm has many divisions that work towards the creation of jobs in society. We also invest heavily into pharmaceutical companies. It's not all bad and, like you said, it compensates much better than the rate at which your average internal medicine physician gets paid at.

Ray,
Money is a means to an end.
While the idea of becoming an "honorable" physician that works for the sole purpose of healing the sick and bettering mankind would have been great in a fairy tale ending kind of way, I realized early on that physicians are sadly but puppets catering to the agenda of the larger pharmaceutical companies.
Pharm companies do the majority of the research work that goes into developing new drugs that cater to their needs. They spearhead these studies by paying off a few physicians that will eagerly place their name on an IRB study (in order to give it a little credibility by way of credentials) alongside a few actual scientists. They then release a drug that rarely ever cures a disease, but instead masks the common and bothersome symptoms that the disease sparks on its own. They market these drugs, push it onto patients by way of your basic doctor visits (You go in for a physical, your doctor magically connects your random symptoms to the probability of you having something possibly malignant, BUT that can be reversed if you try this new drug. Bingo, there goes your sample and their also goes the doctor's monthly kickback from the pharmaceutical. Tada!) In turn, they just potentially earned a lifelong addict to a useless drug. The doctor's purpose in all of this? He was just the tool used in between the exchange, a fancy, white-labcoat wearing, eloquent individual who you should trust due to societal stereotypes deeply implanted from youth.
The body has an incredible way of healing itself, don't forget that.
My entire point being that over time you realize that what is important is how you decide to live out your life. I don't want to be a perpetual slave to the money that will meet a sad end. Instead, I am happy in knowing that doing what I do for a living provides me the pleasures I've always wanted to indulge in and will allow for an early retirement.
So instead of practicing medicine, I help to invest in the companies that come up with *cures* to diseases, companies that then, in turn, keep your doctors employed and your modern day patients "healthy" and "happy".
That's what I would do for money..

Oh, I know, but this is a sensitive issue since I had to hear the same from two overbearing parents that cursed me to no ends due to my picking investment banking versus medicine well after getting accepted into med school. Now, in their old age and while living in a beautiful, Fort Lauderdale elite community within a home fully paid (by me) by the beach, they thank me profusely for having picked what I did for a career.
Ask me what they thought of my being gay and marrying another man and I'll tell you another story.
If it were anything else, I would have answered with my typical, pro-gay response, but you touched a testicle, I got hard and had to reach as such.

-
Good for you man.
Although it would have been far more honest of you to spare me the rationalisations and just admit that you changed careers like that because you didn't feel like waiting until your 30s to make starting money as a doctor, when as an investment banker, at the same age group, you already be in a position to make very good money.
Essentially you traded working in a field connected to a partially immoral industry to working directly in a much more immoral one.
And we may analyse the iatrogenic nature of the pharmaceutical industry all you want, but the fact remains that where I live we've been in a recession for more than three years which your industry bares a massive responsibility for creating, and as for the c*nts in the City who brought it on, not only did they not get penalised, they got bonuses.
The whole economics model that the English speaking world modeled their financial systems after, was proved to be a sham in 2008, and regulation has only now started to be implemented, and your industry is resisting in every way it can.
(rant over)

;D i'm only kidding around

Went back and got a BS in accounting and an MBA in Finance.
@Raymondo - "Essentially you traded working in a field connected to a partially immoral industry to working directly in a much more immoral one." ~ That's a matter of personal opinion and you know that. What you find highly immoral, could very well seem tame in comparison to others.
That said, where do you live?

There is nothing wrong with the male physique my dear child. Why tarnish something so beautiful as that of a well built man with a beautiful penis by trying to physically morph it into appearing like that of a female body?
Why I have many friends that are transsexuals, I do not necessarily agree with their decision to surgically and chemically alter their bodies to resemble that of women.

Ive had disc replacment at 3 levels in cervical spine,( resulting from compression injuries playing rugby then compounding it with heavy weights for a decade) the resulting nerve damage from this type of injury is unforgiving whilst i have improved in certain areas on my right side the muscles furthest away from the area that was compressed are gone, im 3 and a half years post op and my right lat especially the lower section is gone, upper back is okay along with the tricep to some extent and the pec is 50% what it was once, but spinal injuries are the end of life as you once knew it, I tell all young lifters at the gym to slow down, life is a marathon not a sprint. Big Ron has had this problem for years, Jay also has issues with spinal compression, after going through it myself i can identify it in others better than any doctors, the telltale signs are there, you need to pull up asap, to preserve your spine for the rest of your life, I cant train like I used to but I pulled up early enough so that im still able to live a fit athletic life without pain.

Only an absolute idiot would think epic amounts of gh and muscle mass would increase the risk of disk compression, again this is just an ordinary injury, that happens to all men in their forties, stop trying to make this about the dangerous of body building.

@MikMaq: yeah all men in their forties have a disc replacement ...
-
Sooo.... upright rows. Yay or nay? ???
-
What exercises should I avoid?
bump for responses... good stuff, honest.
-
Best advice I could give you would be get an MRI every few years to check the disc height, especially as you get older there is no doubt in my mind that my heavy training over almost two decades contributed to teh problem, I have identified it in a lot of guys who have trained a long time, infact a type Palumboism could be a side effect of the narrowing of the distance between the cervical spine with disc wear and tear, that COULD be one reason why a lot of guys lose arm mass in their forties, as you will never see a muscle shrink quicker than when the nerve to that muscle is impaired. Be careful with the position of your neck when lifting do not move your head in position mid lift, easy to pinch a nerve this way. The condition would definatly be a genetics thing with some more prone than others to getting it.
-
Definatly avoid the yates style bent over rows with your back standing more upright than the conventional row, when you contract your lats pulling your elbows back , you tend to tilt your head back to contract the traps,I honestly believe this excercise is a disc killer, just an opinion.

i got nerve problems myself, are you saying I'm fucked for getting any bigger :-\
-
would depend on the amount of damage, if you identify it early enough and avoid excercises that cause it, you could be okay, but nerve damage is the most unforgiving type of injury you can have.
-
What exercises should I avoid?
I injured my low-back 30 years ago & i still have a slipped spinal disc, caused by heavy T-bar rowing and doing too many heavy low-reps dead-lifts.
so you should avoid heavy deadlifts, barbell squats.....
switch to using cable upright rowing, smith squats...
and butts against wall to take the low-back presure off while doing barbell bent-over rowing.....
-

That's gotta suck so bad to see your own body slowly wither away and knowing it's never gonna come back.
-

this reminds me of shrugs. when i do the shrug motion, i feel like i'm pinching my neck and can't feel shit in my traps. with your compression / nerve problems, did you also have trouble feeling the muscle (the "mind muscle connection")?
-
That's gotta suck so bad to see your own body slowly wither away and knowing it's never gonna come back.
It was a lot easier to deal with as i had retired from then sport and had other priorities in life with my business and family, but as a guy who loves to train it devastated me, but I have never given up and the recovery is sufficient for gym rat, certainly wouldn't be able to ever think about competing again, but even without the injury, my bodybuilding days were behind me.
-

No, but with shrugs becareful not to move the position of your neck during the rep, easy to pinch a nerve, quite a few guys have done similar injuries doing standing calve raises by moving their heads with the stack leveraged on their shoulders. I would think the mind connection could be achieved better by contracting the traps at the top the rep, but be careful not to move your head mid rep, peak contraction training is excellant at turning a muscle on, I have used it with my calves in all my traing days as i had no mind muscle link there only a burning feeling from the pump, mind muscle is important, in my opinion.
-
how do you train around it ?
@MikMaq: yeah all men in their forties have a disc replacement ...
I also have severe low back problems. I cannot do squats, leg presses, seated cable rows etc. I train around it as follows:
1. I do one- leg leg press and lunges for thighs, as well as leg extentions. One leg exercise works very well and I get no back pain from it.
2. All seated rows are done with machines having chest-pads for support. One arm dumbell rows works well
3. I do overhead presses seated, without arching my back
4. I do hyperextentions for lower back. Works well. Feels like it gets blood into the lower back and decompresses in the low part of the movement. Also keeps up low back strength.
NN
-
wouldn't light deadlifts be good for your spine? I always heard keeping the lower back muscles strong was good for the spine, as long as you can strengthen them without ruirning your spine. I rarely go above 740 usually keeping the reps above 15. I'm young and already train like an old fart due to my dad being run down from lifting.
-
i read in a ronnie coleman interview, a rcent one, where he said he doesnt squat, deadlift,do t-bars or bent rows anymore and a few other exercises that were his mainstay.he has had 2 surgeries on his back and said a third one is necessary,to fix what is wrong,he also said he would love to vcompete again,if he could do these exercises again,as he would need to do them to look the way he once did, i doubt he has any regrets being that he won 8 sandows, only lee haney can say that.
-
Is Ronnie in the Methodist Dallas Medical Center ?
-
everyone beliving that coleman will ever be on stage again presenting a decent look is a complete idiot
his body is faling apart , and that s just normal at nearly 50yrs old
he was great , but that s it
lights out!
-

That is how I injured my back 8 years ago. It hurt really bad for about a month, but thereafter I've been more or less fine.
However, there are flare ups once or twice a year. dI don't know why I decided to experiment with Yates style rows. Should have just left well enough alone.
I avoid squats, deadlifts, and bent rows now. It seems those are the most dangerous exercises for me
-
Yeah Buddy

Poor Ronnie I'll pray for him :(

Given the size of his gut, is he pregnant with Bay's "muscle baby"?
