By losing 9% of their audience in 2011, Fox News’ prime time lineup now averages fewer viewers than Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show.
According to TVNewser, Fox News averaged 1.868 million total viewers in prime time compared to 2.3 million for The Daily Show.
The audience erosion continued over at Fox News as the network lost 8% of its total viewers and 14% of their viewers in the 25-54 demo. The total number of daytime Fox News viewers slipped to 1.073 million.

Fox News 2011: Tops In Cable News, Top 13 Programs in Cable News, But Down From 2010
By Alex Weprin on December 28, 2011 4:50 PM
2011 was another strong year for Fox News Channel, with the network home to the top 13 cable news programs in total viewers and the top nine programs in adults 25-54. The network handily topped both CNN and MSNBC in both categories, in both total day and primetime. In total viewers FNC topped CNN and MSNBC combined. In January, assuming the ratings hold up (and there is no reason to think they won’t) FNC will have been the #1 cable news channel for 10 years.
The news was not all positive for FNC however. While the channel was still a commanding #1 in the ratings, CNN and MSNBC were both up from 2010 in total day and primetime, and FNC was down.
•Primetime: 1.868 million total viewers/ 427,000 A25-54
•Total Day: 1.073 million total viewers/ 274,000 A25-54
2011 marked the first time that FNC had the top 13 programs in cable news among total viewers. It also secured the top nine programs in the demo.
As usual, the #1 cable news program in both total and demo viewers was “The O’Reilly Factor” — while “Hannity” was #2 in both Total Viewers and viewers A25-54. FNC’s news programs anchored by Shepard Smith and Bret Baier cracked the top five, showing that news remains a draw for the channel best known for its primetime commentators.
“Red Eye,” which airs at 3 AM, had its best year ever, making it the only daily FNC program to see ratings gains compared to 2010.
Among the channel’s weaker performances was at 5 PM, where “Glenn Beck” and “The Five” combined to be down -27% in total viewers and -35% in the demo compared to 2010. FNC argued in the recent New York Times story about “The Five” that the program has been more successful with advertisers than Beck’s program was, so that may help offset the declining ratings in the time period.
In primetime, “The O’Reilly factor,” “Hannity” and “On the Record” were all down in total and demo viewers compared to 2010.
In the morning, “Fox & Friends” performed relatively strong, remaining essentially flat in both total and demo viewers.
Really ur a retard...they quote their own numbers, and those they link from another site compares them to CNN and MSNBC only.

It must kill this kid to have to live with the fact that Fox CRUSHED CNN and MSNBC in the ratings. In-fact, HLN routinely crushes MSNBC in some of the time slots. Most people just aren't interested in fictionalized, far-left sitcoms like Tingles and Co. bring to the table.

What has happened to the audience of MSNBC, CNN, etc.?
TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if all of these eroded as much if not more than Fox. The simple fact is that most people are getting their news from the internet now. Newspapers, TVs, radios don't matter.
-
The net can be just as bad..blogs in place of hard news etc.....twitter news has become very popular....
-
I've watched FOX for years. It's changed a lot this year. IMO, as it moes further right each year (just as msnbc does) -
It gets a little 'dumber'. Just like msnbc.
Anytime you have to aim for the trailer hillbillies (on the right) or the crybaby liberals without logic (far left), you sorta have to remove the HIGHER LEVEL thinking from your stories.
knowledge, comprehansion = dumb people on political extremes can do this. Simple repeating things like "obama sucks" or "bushs fault"
analysis, application = somewhat smarter viewers who make their own opinion, and use the advice to invest. Think CNBC or fox biz.
synthesis & evaluation = higher level thinkers that get their news from sources not on cable news ;)
-

It has its benefits and its costs. Definitely a lot more conspiracy theorists running around thanks to the net. But hey, the free exchange of information is what you want in a free society.
-
Yeah...if you dig that deep. I like Drudge or RCP...I check all the major left sites as well. I hit Daily Beast and Politico as well as some of the milblogs I post and write for. I also like Ace of Spades...

Ozmo's post is still the best.

-
No....but Kilmeade said that walking around the Fox Offices with all those chicks is ridiculous.
-
yeahhhhh ok ::) ::)
While Getbig is full of degenerates and deadbeats like yourself, you are clearly on the bottom of the barrel. There are only a few people on here running 12+ gimmicks and talking to themselves with them. :)

they do have the best looking women,i'll give them that ,that's probably why the ratings are so high

You sure do seem to watch an awful lot of TV. Between that and your dozen gimmicks, it's clear as day that you're jobless. Fucking deadbeats. :-\

Waste your tax dollars......we will be in overall charge of getting all the shit out of Afghanistan. Now I don't mean actually move anything...we track numbers and file TPS reports. I've been in 19 years and its the first non-combat unit I've ever been in.....which makes my job near impossible.

I'd rather watch O'Reilly and Hannity than read a thread about how Jon Steward is beating them in ratings.
I'm dumber for even clicking on this stupid ass thread.

Lmao. Have you watched Fox Programming latley. Its a joke. With their "misplaced" footage and what not. You gotta admit.. they are jokes and should be ashamed to call themselves a "news" network
Same goes to MSNBC. They also disappoint me by trying to "out lean" Fox

I watch portions of Fox all the time. A joke? Hardly. They do a good job. That's the reason they have been killing the competition for so long. They're just better.

You actually think they are an objective news network.. with objective assessment of the political landscape?

I didn't say that, but as far as their hard news goes, yes. Their opinion shows? Not really, but they at least have liberals on their opinion shows.

yes, it's unfortunate but true.

Fox news and Jon Stewart are not news shows, they are politically motivated and biased programs. The main difference is, Stewart is funny as hell and doesn't hide the fact it's entertainment. JMHO

They have a such thing?
Every day. Watched by a majority of people who get their news from cable TV. :)

Are those the same people who are less likely to know about current events than those who don't watch any news? Just wondering...

? People who watch current events are more likely to know about current events. Watching the news isn't the only way to get current events, if that's what you're asking. Not sure what you're really asking?

I was (ironically) refering to a number of studies (the latest of which is by Lauren Feldman of American University) that were reported as suggesting that individuals who get their news solely from Fox News are more misinformed than people who don't watch any news on television.
Interestingly enough, none of the studies made any reference to reading comprehension. A future subject perhaps?

Sounds like a pretty dumb study. Maybe they should do one on composition?
-

I suspect it's less dumb that you think. Granted, the premise -- and the conclusion -- were badly misreported in the news, but that's par for the course really. I think it, and similar studies, are fairly interesting as a commentary on what passes for "news" and journalism in general today (and I'm not "aiming" just at Fox).
As for composition... with a vocabulary size of around 10,000 and the reading ability hovering at the 8th grade level, it's not looking good for the average American when it comes to reading or writing.
-

Trying to do a study about anyone who gets their current event news from one station, whether it's Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc., is really stupid IMO. That kind of "study" is not a commentary at all on what passes for news, when they all report the same news. In terms of major current events, they all report the same stories, for the most part. (Talking about their hard news shows.) The opinion shows are much different and have a big disparity in terms of what is discussed, etc. The only exception is the enormous pass the media gives to Obama.
As for composition, people trying to make veiled digs, when their composition is atrocious, could be the subject of a study, athough it would be a waste of time and money. And writing at an 8th grade level is actually a good thing. Writing should be as simple and clear as possible.
