I can think of another way of providing more resistance, while building those hard-to-reach neck muscles and still getting a little pleasure while at it..

What will they come up with next?

Doing it to the other direction (curl) makes more sense since it's the weaker plane of movement and most of the time (atleast you would think) the force you need to resist comes from the front of you.

My dad has something like that at home. He was always injuring his neck straining it. He swears it doesn't bother him anymore. I should prob start doing it because mine hurts all the time. The littlest thing tweaks it.

It worked for Jeff King.....he did 4-5 sets,3 X a week.

I have neck and lower back issues and it`s helped my neck pain decrease immensely.

Interesting. Explain what was wrong with your neck, what helped it?

My own neck screams at me in the am especially (have cervical disc arthritis)
