yeah..a lot going on in there. First thing I noticed (charity spar or whatever) mike came out and established he was the boss out the gates, touching him early, turning him..basic stuff to show you are the boss during a spar and you can turn it up if you decide too.
Love the head movement , advancing inside off the slip, counters to the body, simple shit he's doing in there burning zero gas...man you can learn so much from this guy. I'd pay to spar with him and get some of that knowledge.

Destroy him in the ring boxing?

Exactly a lot going on there to the trained eye

Yes.

Yes.
You must have the IQ of a ceiling fan to think fedor would take mike in the ring.

He looks old and slow.
I think Fedor would probably punch him in to a ceiling fan.
-
Ok "A professional" you realise Fedors well past it himself now dont you
-
Mike pissing all over him there
-
He still got it.
-
That's not 2010 against Sanders. He was 40 years old in 2006...
-
Still great to see such a big champion moving around like that in the ring.... :)
-

Yep still got all the moves
-
It would be fun to watch him spar a few rounds with Junior Dos Santos or another big name mma heavyweight. It would be great experince for them maybe they could learn a thing or two.
-
Yep still got all the moves
Lets just say...i wouldnt step in the ring with him even if they paid me a million dollars... :-X
He can still seriously damage your brains with one of them big power shots...
-
He was purposely going at a sparring pace. Its obvious he could have turned it up and ended this at anytime. He hit the guy and held him up for god's sake. Great movement and agree with above posts, those skills are still with him.

You don't loose skills. You loose speed power and all of that before you loose skills. Tyson will be able to knock people out until he's bed ridden or dead.

this. no epic beard man shit for iron mike.

Fedor would destroy him. Hope this helps.
You just lost all credibility you may have once had regarding fighting.
-
SMM gimmick with statements like that........... ::)
-
Still moving like the champ.
-

That's a contradiction, that makes no sense whatsoever. ??? Anyway the reason Mike peaked young is because his skills eroded, no big mystery.
No shit he will always be able to bang.
-
I am a blue belt in BJJ and I would take him down and choke him out, simple as that.
-
I'm a black belt in origami and I'd fold Mike into a paper crane in 3 seconds...
God damn idiots on this board.
I'm 41 now, when I was 17 Mike was in his prime. We'd spar at the club for 10 minutes and talk about Mike for an hour. The guy was a hero back then.
But sure - youse could all take him... ::)

His main skills were actually his speed, overall defense and ability to get in his opponent's guard. That degraded once Kevin Rooney got out of the picture. Everything was linked for Tyson. As it is for all champions, only to an even greater extent with him.

Tyson was quicker with his hits than any MMA fighter I've seen...I mean his combos were nasty...
I feel sorry for any dude in the club or on the street who mistakenly tangles with Mike...that is one dad you don't want a piece of
And nobody mentioned the Michael Steele shirt---his ex wife's brother.

Junior cant even handle a WW
-
Power is well preserved, its one of the last things to go. Reflexes and speed (and recovery from training/injury) is why most guys are done at 40.
-
What is he going to do with his boxing skills when I put him on his back?
-
In his prime, Tyson would punch Fedor into another dimension within seconds of a fight.
Hope this helps.
-
Tyson was beautifully aggressive and fast. Punching often lifted him partially off the ground.

he was a pure beast

Yep...guys like him made me stay up late to see him fight ....to bad it lasted more or less 1 round...
-
Remember what a great boxer Michael Spinks was......Tyson made him look like a scared ragdoll who never boxed one round in his life.........reduced him to nothing even before the "fight" started.
Guy was a fucking animal.
-
Tyson was and is the best ever.
here's mike tysons oppinion on mma (not so serious)
and since people here are compareing mma and boxing here's bernard hopkins giving rashad evans some pointers
Bernard's oppinion on mma
Bernard said it best, mma vs boxing with boxing rules and boxing would dominate, and vica versa, but both are legit! But I think olympic level boxing could knock most pro level mma fighters if they can't get a hold on the boxer.
-
Yep...guys like him made me stay up late to see him fight ....to bad it lasted more or less 1 round...
True. It compare that to the bore fest that is now heavyweight boxing
-
If you watch mikes sparring videos when he was in his best form, it's like the sparring partners were better than his actual opponents... it's only sparring, but they allways seemed so high quality/level, dunno.

Is that Ribalta? He gets up from that...
Ribalta ate bombs all night, tough guy.

Wasn't Spinks a glorified cruiserweight?
-
Ribalta.......had a lotta` fucking heart to take that kind of punishment and still hang in.
-
Wasn't Spinks a glorified cruiserweight?
Yeah,I believe so.....great fighter at one time, nothing like his brother.
-
Wasn't Spinks a glorified cruiserweight?
He beat Holmes twice, close fights. Unbeaten going in to Tyson fight, seen as Tyson's biggest test, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
He was steered at heavyweight to be fair, but it's a legit win over an ATG.
-
Ribalta.......had a lotta` fucking heart to take that kind of punishment and still hang in.
I agree
-
He could still give the current top heavys a run for their money from the looks of that.
Many say Ali was the greatest boxer of all time, but for me Tyson in his prime was a machine.

Tyson's big issues happen after the 6th rd when he couldn't get iron chin guys out early like Holyfield. The theory holds the same that Ali would push the fight late like he did against Forman. And I think it's safe to say that Ali's chin for his generation of fighters was better than Ribalta's and equally as solid as Holyfield's. Ali for the win against Tyson.

Fair comment, we will never know that one, either way they where the best two boxers to walk to planet
-
What is he going to do with his boxing skills when I put him on his back?
You move in for one of your take downs, he lands a lightning fast right to your temple, you die.
Simple.

You are lumping in post prison Tyson with pre-prison Tyson. Very different animals.
Ali beats post-prison Tyson. Prime Tyson, I don't think so. My opinion.

God damn that shot has Broken jaw all over it, i recall that fight and if memory serves right that crazy SOB got STRAIGHT back up...for more and MORE punishment...Like alot on this board i grew up when Tyson was in his Prime (back when you could watch it FREE live on NZ tv1 back in the 80s) i recall the Tyrell Briggs fight....absolutely punished him round after round....after round til he knocked him the fuck out...and Larry Holmes although long past his Best @ the time (1988) Holmes was a Proud Champion and went out swinging, i recall in the Pre-fight Conference Tyson said "Im going to beat the old man up" Holmes @ the time was 38 and already a Grandfather replyed back...."im the one going down in History" not Mike Tyson....He will go down as a SOB...."if he do (mike) happen to win the fight....down the Line he will DESTROY HIMSELF...............I recall laughing @ the time saying WTF is this "oldman" on about.........LOL :o :o :o
Tyson fighting a Prime Holmes (1978-81) would have IMO had his Toughest Challenge of all when still Tyson was @ his peak, Holmes IMO would be the One NOT Ali to Potentially Beat a Prime Tyson....Maybe...

Holy Shit!!!! Mike fucked him up.

Prime Holmes was a very technical fighter and also very athletic. He could take a punch (remember his fights against Ernie Shavers). So I tend to agree with that assessment. But still people will keep on wondering forever what an Ali/Tyson fight would have been like. First, because no matter how great Tyson was in his prime, he didn't face the same opposition Ali faced. But on the other side, if Tyson was pretty similar to another great HW, it wasn't Foreman but Frazier (short with the ability to get low, terrible hooks at close range). And we all know how those Ali/Frazier fights went. Tyson though more powerful and even faster than Frazier but didn't have Frazier's condition. So it would have been a matter of how long the fight would have gone probably.
-
Speed kills. Prime Tyson hit hard and was way faster than Frazier.
-
Yes.
boxing, Fedor against Tyson, both in their prime. Hypothetical... Tyson destroys Fedor in less than 2 minutes. That's a fucking no shit no argument.

Joe Frazier was a Great Champion one of my Favorite Fighters, to be fair Joe had Better stamina, Left hook was one of the best ever and Def (IMO) had more heart than Tyson and was as Proud a Champion as any b4 him or after him....Tyson IMO had More Tools than Joe Frazier...Devastating Right hand...Right and Left hook...Devastating.... Body-shots....Devastating....awesome uppercuts, and had Faster hand speed and Foot-speed than Joe, but the Main Difference between the 2 if both in there Primes would be Defense....
Thats what separated IMO Tyson from MOST the great Champions Before and after him....Defense...back in the 1980s when a Challenger actually managed to Hit Tyson.....it was a Big Deal....like when Tucker lifted tyson off both feet with that uppercut from hell...Tyson just smiled @ him and came forward more....Point is it was Very Difficult to actually nail Tyson Hard with more than one Punch in the 1980s Tyson would have IMO No trouble hitting Joe or 99% of the HW Greats Ali included he would of gotten to Ali ALOT faster than Joe with both Foot-speed and Hand-speed and all the other tools just Mentioned..... but again Guys like Joe and Ali had that MENTAL STRENGTH that Tyson didnt have on their level so that MAY HAVE been a factor....Thats why ive always beleived and said Holmes....He had a Very Tight Defense @ his Peak along with the other tools and he also had that old school mental strength....as in he would never quit....or never give up til the absolute end....as in Knocked out Completely.... the last Great HW in my view to have that Mindset was Evander Holyfeild.
-
Still got the moves
My thoughts exactly! Didn't think he was still able to move like that.
-

That Lower back. Guy finally had some time away for that to heal. The upper body and head movement in that video is more than he actually moved about 2 fights before he even fought lennox lewis.
Haven't seen movement like this from him since as far back as the him vs holyfield days.

Me Tarzan

::)
to be fair i had tyson winning the second fight till holyfield head butted tyson.... and cut him
-
I think Tyson would of had big problems George Foreman though. He has that granite chin and you can't bully that guy. He doesn't fear anyone.
-
Why do people think old Foreman beats Tyson?? Old Foreman lost to Tommy Morrison and struggled wth the lkes of Crawford Grimsley and Axel Schulz for Gods sake
-

Old Foreman would get speed blitzed by Tyson. Old Foreman feasted on cans and got outboxedby guys like Schulz and Morrison.
Young Foreman has a high chance of pushing Tyson around and really causing damage at mid range with uppercuts.
-

The guy could take a hit to the head with a sludge hammer. Tyson preyed on people who feared him. Foreman would never be afraid of him.
-
Tyson preyed on people who feared him.
That's the narrative that Teddy Atlas and douchebag sports reporters have been passing off as the truth the last 15 years. They have an axe to grind with Tyson and they have been trying to find a way to diminish his career. Prime Tyson preyed on anyone he damn well pleased to devastating effect.
-

No everyone just randomly feared him, Career fighters who grew up on the streets, years of pro experience, found his haircut intimidating ::)
-
Tyson was and is the best ever.
here's mike tysons oppinion on mma (not so serious)
Just finished watching this, I am a few years younger than mike and was a huge fan as he was ripping up the heavyweights in the 90's - Followed all his dramas, watched all his docos, the man is truly a paradox - a brutal warrior and a deep compassionate human being - the way he talked about Fedor, and why he started to lose, and the way Mike said he wanted Fedor to retire as he didn't want to see him get hurt anymore - the dude was sincere and genuine - the guy definately has charisma - or sumpin'

Man Tyson through that uppercut from way downtown, and you can see he put everything into it - it takes a lot of confidence and focus to attempt to throw such a powerful uppercut with absolutely everything you got on it. I always remember when I watched Tyson fights that he had a menacing look in his eye, like that no matter who he fought, some shit was going to get fucked up, win lose or draw Tyson just saw a boxing match as a way to vent some pent up anger - Tyson fought with more pure HATRED in his heart than any man I have ever watched fight before or since. Someone really pissed Tyson of when he was younger! Thats for sure!
-
Fighting with HATE!!
