the new IPad is nothing new. What they put in better resolution and added is to 4G network. The new iphones have siri which is the most annoying thing ever.
Has this company reached its peak?

are you retarded

Valid question. How long will they be innovative.

Valid question. How long will they be innovative.
They're not innovative and haven't been for a long time.
Their problem is complacency. They restrict the user experience and create a walled garden. They also exploit consumer loyalty by releasing tiny little updates to all their devices instead of bringing out something new and revolutionary. They can polish a turd until it shines like a diamond but they have easy problems that hold the company back.
I know the company isn't doing BAD per se, but they could do so much more if they wanted. I'm a super loyal Google/Android fan but I admit they could CRUSH the Android platform if they wanted. But instead they let Google embrace nerds and give us the ability to create our own user experience. They've given us a home and Apple's attitude is "like it, or fuck off"... well, until they stop using proprietary cables, stop releasing small updates and try pawning them off as revolutionary, until they get rid of iTunes, until they stop being anti-competitive and until they stop being hipster douche bags I'll continue to support their greatest rivals.
Like many others I WANT to like Apple but they make it really hard. Good thing there are billions of idiots in this world who'll eat their products up though. They don't have much to worry about.

every time apple comes out with a product, they revolutionize an industry, even windows is copying mac nowadays

Uh....no. Steve jobs was a manager, and had nothing to do with the tech/innovation side of things for a long time. he had a great mind for deciding where to allocate their funds for research and production (like the imac, then ipod, then iphone, ipad, etc...), but he wasn't the guy figuring shit out. His greatest contribution to the world is revolutionizing the music industry with itunes. That's his baby, 100% (which is funny, because he was a vinyl enthusiast and hated the way mp3's sound).
I think we are in the midst of a slow period for tech advances. This always happens before the next big thing. I have no idea what the next great advancement will be, but google "ray kurzweil," and that will get your brain wandering for a while.
-

They did, but their recent upgrades to the iphone and ipad are very laughable. Now they are just nickle and diming their customers by holding out on certain features they are saving for the next release
-

You have no clue my little furry friend. I will name you george and hug you and squeeze you and love you forever.

so dont get the new ipad lol, what is the big deal

Yeah, they're great at sensationalizing things.
Remember when the Cut & Paste features came to iOS? They acted as if they resurrected Jesus from the grave or something. The unfortunate thing is that people actually get hyped up about this shit... and then you've got fuckin' twinky nerds like me just melting down over it LOL jk
Apple's chosen their path and unfortunately there's no room for nerds like me to hop on board. It looks like a fun ride but it's just not for me. I'd sooner buy one for my parents and get an Android tablet for myself.

Forget this brand loyalty crap. How is it going to affect their stock? ???
I think it's going to level out for a long while.
-
I don't think it has peaked. If it starts to sink I will sell it., but this stock has made me some very nice bank. I bought it at $79. I would love to see it hit it target price of 710.
-
apple will peak with the iphone 5, the apple television that they are going to come out with is just not going to be practical for people in this economy to buy when they can get a regular hdtv with much less money at the same quality.
-
nope. The world is moving to post pc, and apple owns the only music/video player the matters, the iPod. And the only tablet people want.
talking about phones tho, android 4.0, or ice cream sandwich as the losers call it :D, is almost as good as iOS 5. one more update and i might trade in my iPhone for a htc one X. :)

mp3 players cost very cheap compared to the over priced ipod, why on earth would someone get an ipod when they can get a 30 - 60 dollars mp3 player for the gym or whatever and not be worried about banging it up? People will and are going to realize apple is just shit wrapped in a shiny blanket.

itunes or a real form of media management.
iPod touches do why more then music. I'm guessing mostly kids or people that want a contract free iPhone buy the touch.

exactly, there are tons more and I don't see how anybody could pass them up for some big ass ipod that is twice or three times expensive, I don't even know the cost of them now, but they are stupid expensive, plus iTunes slows down your computer to utter shit.
-
they are expensive because apple took the risk of reinventing mp3 players so others could copy them
hope this helps

I still don`t understand how the majority of you morons manage to browse the internet with a screen size the size of a postage stamp and with a phone of all things.

Either evolution will help humans develop amazing eyesite to make this possible or turn everyone in blind fucking bats. time will tell

Smart phone screens are around 4-5" and tablets are double that, so it's more than sufficient for checking frequented forums, grabbing a recipe, etc. You can also hook these up using MHL/HDMI out and use BT keyboards. Hell, I just threw Ubuntu on mine and it runs flawlessly for what I need using a BT keyboard and mouse.
The smart phone scene is only starting to blow up right now. Big, big things on the horizon. Any time there's a hurdle, problem or setback in the Android scene there will be 100 amazingly talented hobby developers who will resolve the challenge, guaranteed. My phone does more than I could ever ask for. But if there's something more I need, I can simply ask another nerd and they'll happily fix the bug or include the requested feature. The Android community is truly amazing.
On one hand I hate to be so technology-dependant, but on the other hand I don't give a flying fuck because I absolutely love all my handheld devies! ;D

Apple hit $500 billion this month. Hardly think its hit its peak ::)

anyone figured out one good reason to own a ipad yet? i mean, something you cant do your phone or your laptop?

steve jobs is dead = apple is finished. The real question is how long will Apple last on Job's legacy and all the money generated during his reign.
-
they are expensive because apple took the risk of reinventing mp3 players so others could copy them

What are expensive? Apple's mp3 players? They didn't invent the mp3 player lol. Most mp3 players worth buying look nothing like the ipod, they are quite the opposite just like they were before the ipod came out.

Yes Jobs was the creative mind behind the products, he was a visionary like an artist, make you want to own the phone because it is "sexy", no one will buy apple hardware in the future if it just has updated specs, people will catch on. Jobs was a one of a kind though person.

Yeah, there are only a limited amount of homos in the market! And pretty much all the homos have their apple fix by now, so I would say it is all down hill from here unless Apple start to Target the heterosexual market they may go down the tube relying on the gay dollar.

there are so many other options now as well. iTunes is a resource hog, now full of bloatware that apple pushes down your throat just to update your firmware on your phone. The iPhone does not do what it has in its name, is be a phone, it absolutely sucks as a phone in voice quality, connection, etc etc, compared to other manufactures of phones that actually know how to make them properly.
-
Valid question. How long will they be innovative.
For as long as their advertising can persuade us they are innovative. Same as always.
-

I have been involved with computers for 30 years, my dad was an engineer and had one of the first computers in our neighboorhood and I have been hooked ever since, but I never got on the Apple bandwagon, in the beginning it had some creative advantages, but once microsoft caught up, it was pc's all the way. Apple do not produce anything technically superior to anybody else, they just know how to jazz it up for all the middle class wankers.
-
even if they did nothing but ride the patents they currently have and make zero innovation or progress i think they could continue being one of the industries leading companies for another decade. but without jobs... that may end up being the case. time will tell.

exactly... my wife got me an ipod touch last year... it's collecting dust now cuz i used it twice and threw it somewhere to go back to my $20 mp3 player that's about 1/8th of the size and i can change the songs by clicking a button... not to mention that i won't blow $200 by accidentally sneezing on it while using that piece of crap...
regular cheap ass mp3 player = a battery life of 10 days, just drag the damn songs you want to get them there, costs practically nothing, won't ask you for updates every 3 minutes, you don't have to spend another $100 for accessories to make it half practical to carry, it's actually SMALL!
ipod= piece of crap that dies out in 2 hours, you need to basically split the atom with your bare hands to move a damn song on the piece of crap, costs a fortune, have to spend 8 days to change a song while working out, you can't buy a cheap ass $2 USB chord to charge it or use it if you lost yours... you're gonna have to shill out >$10 for a damn wire.
but hey! it's awesome cuz steve said so and it's so revolutionary and uberamazing cuz you can play angry birds on it!

exactly that is what I don't get about the whole ipod thing, if you sit on a couch and listen to music while you treat it very carefully it could be useful I guess, but iTunes makes it so hard to get and transfer music to it and scroll to your music. A regular mp3 player you can just drag and drop and it is much smaller and no worries of dropping it.

For my phone and tablet I use Android, computer is a windows PC all the way.
I could not get into the hype of using a Mac or any iproducts.
Any time I have to use iTunes to help my wife with something on her iPhone, I think of how awful of a software iTunes is.... Seriously, For how easy all the apple products are, they really fucked everything up with iTunes.
To each their own I guess..., the game is about to get more interesting with Windows 8 on the horizon, and windows tablets.
I think its all about the eco system each company is putting forward, and personally, i'm very happy with how Google is doing this.

only if the new world order have their way with population control, imagine how great apple and everyone else will do when we have a human population of 30 billion and half of them were citizens of industrialized "well to do" nations. we would all benefit, for example even if you make low quality music you could easily sell in the millions and become effortless a multimillionaire.
see what I'm saying?

hahah classic
in order for me to buy this shits the screen needs to be some unfolding transformer that folds out into a 24x24 inch screen
-
wonder why they don't make one in the shape of a pair glasses, and you could see it in the glasses instead of having a screen!
I think we will see this soon.
the keyboard and controls could be holographic breamed from the glasses in front of you so you just type in the air. see?
or is this retarded?
-
Seriously how could you find iTunes hard to use?
not so much hard to use than a pain in the ass and slows your computer down, terrible resource hog.

Apple made $1 billion off Google last year by having it as the default search engine in Safari, says Macquarie analyst Ben Schachter in a note this morning.
Schachter wrote his note in response to the fact that Apple seems to be shifting away from Google Maps.
Moving away from Google Maps isn't that big a deal for Google. But what if Apple moved away from Google for search? Would that hurt Google? The answer appears to be no, at least in the short term.
Schachter believes Google searches on Apple devices resulted in $1.3 billion in gross revenue. He believes Google has a 75% traffic acquisition cost associated with that revenue. As a result, Google only gets $335 million in net revenue from searches on iOS and Safari.
If Apple were to abandon Google, the impact to Google would be minor. The impact to Apple might actually be worse, since it would have to rely on search engines that are arguably inferior to Google.
In the long run, though, it could hurt Google since the iPad appears to be taking over the world. If the iPad overtakes the PC in the next 5 years and it becomes the number one way people are searching, then Google will be in trouble.
Here's the breakdown from Schachter on how he got to his number:
Deeper look at the financial impact - We know that Apple TAC is accounted for in the Google.com TAC line item reported each quarter by Google. For 2011, Google reported ~$1.5bn in total Google.com TAC. For modelling purposes, we assume that Apple represented ~66% of this TAC (though we acknowledge that this could be high), or $1bn. At a 75% TAC rate, this means that Google generated ~$1.3bn in gross search revenue through default search placement on Apple devices. In other words, this $1.3bn of search revenue ($335m net search revenue) in 2011 is at risk if Apple moves away from Google. $335m represented ~1% of net Google.com search revenue. Notably, mobile/Apple revenue is among its fastest growing revenue drivers.
The New iPhoto App for iOS Doesn't Use Google Maps
The process of Geotagging our photographs has now become a very common drill for people taking pictures to share with other people. Geotagging lets us see where and when a photograph was taken. iPhoto for the Mac supports Geotagging and allows us to share that personal information with the people we send our photos to. The location of where the photograph was taken will then be shown on a Google Map.
Today, Apple announced, demonstrated, and released iPhoto for iOS into the App Store – compatible with the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 5.1 (also released today). iPhoto for iOS will allow us to Geotag and view the Geotagging of our photographs that we take on the go, however it doesn’t appear to be using Google Maps to show us information about our photographs anymore.
We are aware that a while ago Apple purchased two major mapping companies – C3 Technologies and Placebase. These companies were supposed to have proven useful to Apple as they attempt to dominate the computing world without relying on competitors to make the iOS device lineup great. The absence of Google Maps, which still powers the Maps application for now, in the iOS iPhoto application shows us that Apple has not been slacking on their plans to create their own interfaces.
The maps used in the screenshots above are obviously not of Google Maps and are taken from the iOS iPhoto application. Ironically, iPhoto for Mac OS X still uses Google Maps to show us the information about our Geotagged photographs. It is not yet known what Apple plans to do with this mapping technology, whether they plan to bring it to the Mac or integrate it into the Maps application. If Apple does bring these mapping technologies to iOS and OS X then Google will have more competition to worry about as Apple brings their finalizing touch to the digital mapping world as they have with many other services such as voice dictation.

We cant feed 7 Billion, hell we have to exterminate most of them or keep them in poverty to even have a "First World" - Imagine the wars, hostility and choas with 29 1/2 billion starving people, and one ruling class. Sounds delightful!
