I have long arms so I'm not a great bencher--in fact my bench is weak for my size! (362 1 rep max)
But I've always had naturally strong biceps. I can curl 75 pound dumbells with only slight momentum for a 1 rep.
(I don't ez curl)
How much can you curl?
-
45's DBs no cheating for several reps, been working with BB for 95 now, almost no momentum.
Never tried anything near a 1rm, for it is pretty useless.

That's pretty good.
How much do you weigh? Bf %?
-
Seated, no cheating clean for about 6-8 reps can do 65-70 pounds, depends on the day, weakest part is my wrist so I use wrist wraps. Hammer curls can do 90 standing but those require some swinging.

Around 80 Kilos, around 9 bf, 1.75 meters.
Estimated because Im always interrupting my "bulking" so I really cant keep track.
Oh, and natural as Pat Banana. Only use/abuse EC stack.

Goddamn man! Impressive.

I'm trying to see if there's a correlation.

My wife's using 35-45 lb dumbbells.

Very respectable numbers @175.

In an hour or so Ill be curling, Ill think of you and get inner strength in order to curl BB 100. Ill probably fail.
Also, I have decent curl numbers because I have also very good rowing numbers, back work is by far my favorite part of training.

I am a little under 300 now. Flexed right now they are an even 20". Weight is not the issue. In college at about 250 lean I was easily doing about 75's. My wrists are too fucked now to go heavier.
-
Have done seated alternate DB curls with the 70`s in decent form for 5 reps.
-
For me - 70's super strict and 85's with momentum.
-
Not sure haven't done curls in ages. When i was about 165lb 6% i was doing bodyweight barbell curls, my arms were about 14 and a half lol.
I have been doing chin ups for bi's for years.
-

That's a woman? Why the long face?
-
Based on the numbers it seems someone that is a muscular 240+ can almost be expected to be able to curl 70s for a few good reps.

Not falling for that shit, thats a MAN BABY. No I would not hit it.

I'm not sure how anyone would find that thing attractive? It's really odd looking.

Never understood it. Maybe they get off on it ???

i have serious elbow tennis nowadays .. but used to do 75-80lbs for about 6 to 8reps seated.... nowadays i go up to about 40-45 and keep it strict for about 10-12reps
-
Recently I've been starting my workouts with (after warm ups) a few sets with 50's - 55's on a low incline dumbell curl for 6-10 slow reps, focusing on just squeezing the bicep. Then higher reps on barbell curls and machine curls with similar form.
If you want to show how much you can lift- full squats, deads, benches, overheads, in good form. Worrying about curl poundage is ridiculous and usually leads to shitty form.

just did 45 pounds for 8 reps till failure, and i'm hoping to make it to 60 pounds for 8 reps within the next 2 months or so
-
I need body weight along with numbers for the purpose of my survey. Arm measurements too would be helpful.
A 250 pound man @25%bf that curls 45s is different than a 175 pound man that curls 45s for reps.
-
I rarely go over 55...i keep the reps perfectly controlled, and always do my curls seated...no swinging. sets are 10-15 reps. I could go heavier...but it's not needed
-

It's important for the purpose of bragging rights (what sounds more impressive to the uninitiated? I curl 60 pounds for 10 reps or I curl 80 pounds for 1rm??) and also practicality:
If you are left in the wild with one armed pinned under a tree, and the other free...
it doesn't make sense that you would lift the tree off your arm multiple times; it would require one feat of great strength.
And again, I must reiterate: Post weight/arm measurements.

I think bi's are a real feel the movement muscle, applicable to all movements of course but some more than others.
Chest, tri's et cetera i will load up the weight, never seems to heavy, but on bi's past a certain point it seems ineffective.
Bi's are a very small muscle, people forget.
-
I went up to 85lbs but can't remember if I really did it right or it was just my ego talking !
But I usually and always use heavy reasonable weights, usually little more than the guys at the gym and do between 8-12 reps.
The moment I use light weights is the moment I lose mass and i look so flat like now lol.
-
I don`t usually go past the 50`s for 10 reps these days and usually not past the 40`s.
On cable curls I can use a ton of weight, but I actually feel it more in my biceps if I go with about half the weight instead.
All about feel and getting a good pump for me these days.............got no better results using the 70`s than I do using the 40`s!!
-
since when are curl considered a power movement, i guess when the curlmonkey stepped into the squat rack
-
most of those 80lbs you curl are done by your front delts
-
40-45 for real clean higher reps. 50-55 for 8-10 reps when I'm feeling good.
-

No lower back bro.
-
40s incline seated curls for 10-12 strict with 2-3 second negatives
5'10 173 7-8%
15.5" cold flexed right
15.25" left
-
No lower back bro.
secondary muscles FTL

You're incredibly weak. Quite now while you're still on top of the game.

I alternate every week between seated alternate dumbbell curls and seated alternate hammer curls. I pyramid up to 100s on both. My sets typically look like this:
30s x14-16
50s x10-14
70s x8-10
100s x4-6
The 100s involve some momentum, but it's still very controlled and I do the negatives nice and slowly. Naturals simply aren't going to get great arms curling 40s and 50s for 8-12 reps week in, week out. They need to be demolished, pyramid style.
I'm away at school, and my school gym's dumbbells only go up to 80s, so I've been finishing my last set with 80s for 8-10 reps. I'll be home for spring break first week of April where I will have 100s and I'll get my brother to film me, because it's probably pretty worthless saying you can curl 100s without a video to back it up.
-
No way I could do good 100īs, did BB 95 3x6 tho
-
40lbs at absolute most, since I am not a micropenis'd retard who needs to impress the permabulkers and twinks in the gym by swinging up heavy weights with shit form.

Unreal these numbers alot of people here are posting up; so full of shit. Doing incline dumbell curl letting your arms hang back with a proper negative, full rom using just the bicep, I'd be surprised if many could go past 50lbs for 8 reps.

This is getbig where the real strongmen come to talk numbers twink.
Just because you dont lift doesn't mean the rest of us don't

i see guys every day at my gym "curling" 70s and 80s and they have hardly any arms at all.
maybe 17" at best..the odd 18"er. mine are and have been for years now, around 20"...im 6'1" and am about 275lb at 15% bfat.
i work with 50-60lb strict concentration curls for my work sets. a weight that those same guys cant come close to. i can barely do 70lb for 3 reps standing db curls.
my arms are my best bodypart...but when people talk strength, form has alot to do with the claim. ikm sure those guys at my gym swear their form is perfect. thats not what i see.
-
My form`s not too bad with the 70`s and I`m not a big guy...........slight cheat to get it going, followed by a pretty slow negative.
Definately not strict, but I`ve only seen two other guys in my gym use them and one`s a powerlifter weighing over 350 pounds and the other guy weighs at least 250.
-

I only go heavy on dumbbell curls every so often and when I do, I'll go up to 85's using a little momentum. Otherwise, I usually don't go past 60's and I focus more on pumping the blood into the muscle.
I used to love doing heavy barbell curls. I could get up to 185 for a good 8-10 reps, but now I have tendonitis in my right forearm which prevents me from gripping the bar well and even with wrist wraps, I won't put more than a 25 on each side now.
-
Some big numbers here. Wonder how many is lying. :-\
I very rarely go above the 20kg dumbells with the 22-24kg's being used when I feel exceptionally strong. Super strict form with slow negatives.
-
100 lb db comc curls 225 cheat barbell curls course that was years back when i was stupid now 50 lb dbs and no more than 100 or so bb curls.
-
Never tried anything near a 1rm, for it is pretty useless.
this...
I curl enough to give me nearly 20 inch guns
maxing on arms is dumb
-
Im all for feeling the curl too then going heavy. Fuck ego lifting
-
meh, 45 lbs maybe, alot of reps.

;)
Jesus Christ, are you somehow bragging with your wife?
THAT FACE is a mess, that is a manlike face with one big nose and ducky punchable face.
And those implants they look like absolute shit.
My advice would be:
KILL HER WITH FIRE!

Your wife needs to stand further away from the camera and wear her hair 6-7" shorter.

curling and heavy weight dont mix i have been able to curl 135 for a lot of rep and 115 for around 20 or so really gained nothing if your tall its my opinion your prolly better just doing 35-50lb precher curl and incline curls and hitting the muscle good and controlled chest, back grow a lot with heavy weight sloppy form bis not so much.
-

I agree,I`ve done those 70 pound dumbells on a few occasions just to see if I could do it..........I think I get as good or better results going lighter where I can focus more on the muscle instead of moving that heavy shit from point "A" to point "B".

Agree. Biceps are all about feel and smooth movement. Not a heavyweight exercise.
-
some impressive lifts in this thread. Now let's see the "impressive" arms behind them.
we'll start with the weakest. Groink you're up.
-
I can curl 135 barbell with light swinging 6-8 times now, arms feel hormonized like big fella.
-
Im all for feeling the curl too then going heavy. Fuck ego lifting

I will never put down another man's woman but...you could do much better steve. Her nose is almost as masculine as mine
-
Translation: your wife ran off with a bodybuilder
and then I was left hurt,
so I ran down to the corner where your mom works and deep throated that bitch hard to make myself feel a little better
-
i do either 55lbs or 60 lbs for 12-15 reps, but i immediately follow with 35lb dummbells for another 10-15, depending on how im feeling that day.
i know i can do more, but i rather do it with strict form, instead of ego-lifting... i get much better results supersetting bis and tris
-

You deep throated 'her'? Unlikely.

Lots of people full of shit in this thread. :D
-
throwing heavy weight on rows and benching produces much better results then with curls.
-
biceps are all feel more so than any other bodypart as has already been said.......
ive never used more then 25kg dbell which is around 55lbs,,,, most days a 45 or 50 will do, soon as you up the weight it goes to the front delts for me, ive had my arms upto 19", i find some of these claims bs, they must be mainly dbel cleans were talking about here
-
My wife does 95lb bb curls for 8 and 40 db for 8. The best curls I've ever saw a friend of mine did strict no swinging 90's for 8.
