why take a full day off and do nothing
if you dont have purpose for that day and are merely "resting" then why should the program that is YOU not be deleted?
The earth is a breeding ground for potential good progams, taking a "rest" day makes you look like a "virus" thus you might be subjected to deletion
as ive been getting stronger ive been slacking on my pullups and one arm pushups
but thats fine because i havent taken any days off, im now doing lunges with 98 pound dumbells in sets of 2 and 4. Im probably getting stronger for 3 reasons
1 learning better technique , muscles firing off faster
2 paying my dues by never taking a rest day forcing the body to adapt more rapidly
3 slacking on other exercises gives more power and psuedo rest for your and my favorite exercise (lunges)
but the 3rd reason isnt really a positive it more or less cancels each other out, if you DONT do an exercise to GET BETTER at another exercise then your simply just trading one for the other
-
I consider your threads worthwhile.............b ut now ?

do you believe that there is such a thing as over-training?
or maybe you follow the barbarian brothers old motto of "there's no such thing as over-training, only under-eating"?

I tried that one, got fat as a pig....

How many pull ups can you do Johnny.

You're a good bro, Johnny, but I can't agree. As I see it, the training portion of bodybuilding's only the catalyst that sets growth into motion. For it to happen, at least in my experience (natural and not-so natural), rest is needed to complete the process.
Besides, look at animals like hibernating bears or the alpha lion of a pride. He sleeps about 20 hours a day, so you could say all he DOES do is sleep, eat what his women bring him and, from time to time, fight up-and-comers like hell. And what about babies? Sleep, eat, shit, sleep a lot more and they grow at exponential rates, including in developing muscle mass.

Don't overlook the fact that "slacking" on the pullups and pushups frees up resources for you to train more frequently. I'm also dubious that never resting literally forces the body to adapt faster ... it sounds nice, but that was the basic tenet of that moron Steve Michalik's "Intensity or Insanity" training, and I've never seen any of his trainees look like anything. There was a dude at Ironage who followed him like Luke did Yoda, and his physique was the same for years. The minute he got away from Michalik he gained a shitload of muscle, naturally. He was just beating himself to death day in and day out that his body was STARVED for rest.

Why not do all three, wait a few days, then do them again?
Let me put it another way. Back in your heydey, when you were big and quite lean before that first Mr. Getbig, what was your training like?
-
dorian cutler man ill answer the last question just for now im pressed for time
my training back in the day was every day full body , but i had more time to train back in the day and worked less, i spent a rediculous amount of time obsessing about how lean i was and how often i should train
i was more of a high repper cardio fanatic cause thats what melted the calories if i were to overeat
i was no more muscular than your average basketball player, i was just pretty lean. taller people look more muscular than a short stocky dude
-
How many pull ups can you do Johnny.
i could do a max set of 8-10 reps at a bodyweight of 325
-
your thread is pure utter bullshit. Your cns needs to relax at some point. So keep pissin in the wind and train every single day...

For it to happen, at least in my experience (natural and not-so natural), rest is needed to complete the process. think of all the people that rest alot but maybe train hard here and there. are they impressive? i think not bro? i dont want to train and think about needing so much rest like everyone else, afterall look at everyone else
Besides, look at animals like hibernating bears or the alpha lion of a pride. i think there is some potential to lessen muscle gains and bone density gains when you eat meat. since meat contains steroid like hormones. not sure if you are aware of when a child consumes steroids his growth plates cap off i could be wrong but thats just a thought of diet related muscle gains coming from an expert

im sure 99 percent of people have ample "cns" relaxation there muscle king. Since this "cns" relaxation is the key then everyone should rest more
-
before someone argues you need a "BALANCE" of hard training to CNS recovery, I disagree i think 99 percent of people have that perfect balance. The problem is people trying to find the BALANCE whereas the PROPER way to go about it is to go all out one way and that is to TRAIN everyday.
This balance is whats fucking everyone up
BALL-LANCE
cut off your man hood
cut off your balls
be less manly with BALL-LANCE when you dont go ALL OUT seeking to train everyday
only pussies train a few times a week because they need "BALL-LANCE" they have already lanced there balls in doing so thats why they dont make cool threads and are stuck in progression or result to steroids or pathetic arguments about resting your "CNS"

do you believe that there is such a thing as over-training?
or maybe you follow the barbarian brothers old motto of "there's no such thing as over-training, only under-eating"?
Food has no effect on the CNS.
I have obliterated my CNS into the ground a number of times, completely screwing up my adrenal cortex leading to a bunch of other issues
that carried over to my life outside the gym. This was when I was doing a lot of compound lifts and strongman stuff, all very taxing on the CNS.
I have tried eating my way out of being overtrained many, many times with absolutely no success.
It took me months of recovery and special medication to solve my cortisol issues from being so horribly overtrained. I did all of this thinking that
my hardcore ethic would make me more successful than the average gymrat.
I have done so many different routines and variations with my lifting over the past ten years, and I have learned a lot about what my body can and
can't handle.
Over the last few months I have done almost no compound lifting, just a couple sets at the beginning of my session followed by many, many sets of
isolation exercises with short or no rest periods in between. Training in that way is almost like cardio, I noticed increased recovery, lower HR and BP, and
other benefits that I normally get with regular cardiovascular training.
Another thing I noticed training in this manner was that it made me feel energized after each session instead of fatigued into the ground. That max effort
heavy compound HIT style lifting always left me exhausted, beat down, tired but restless, and hungry but unable to get the food down. It felt like I had been run
over by a truck the day after each session, and that was on an EOD lifting schedule.
Since switching to higher rep, higher volume isolation work, I can train back to back days and actually feel good after each session.

so have you progressed on your iso moves? ie. increased training loads?
-
food is everything
the hindus kept there ancient knowledge more intact much better than westerners. food was just as important as god to them...in our society it is only important if a food tastes good and to bodybuilders how much protien is in it
without food you wouldnt have a central nervous system
-
so have you progressed on your iso moves? ie. increased training loads?
gained 2 reps per set on pullups
nothing noticible gained on one arm pushups
definitly increased poundage on lunges

i think he was talking about when you were diesel, and not the time when you got too skinny ma man

i fluctuated 20-30 pounds and still was ripped, still trained the same. i took creatine aswell

Yes pseudo-rest and contractile harmony are the keys.
-
yes, I do your mom at least once per day
;D ;D

Excellent advices. I'm going to go do some squats, deads, and bench presses upon this suggestion.

What are your thoughts on pre-workout supplementation chunk?

What are your thoughts on pre-workout supplementation chunk?
Four 200mg caffeine tabs an hour before. Water is good too I guess.
Really it's all about focusing mental powers and casting spells on the weight.
-
so have you progressed on your iso moves? ie. increased training loads?
I'm either adding a little weight, doing more reps, are adding sets.
It depends on the muscle usually; I have a hard time progressing with biceps and delts with weight or reps, but
adding more sets seems to be making them grow. I noticed that after just a few weeks, my muscular endurance
had improved, each rep of each set felt a little easier and it allowed me to focus more and really control
the negative. I am having an easier time controlling my breathing during sets, something I always struggled
with in the past.
I'm thinking I might train like this the majority of the time, then do a short period of strength based compound
movements again, then back to this type of training before running my CNS into the ground.

If you are natty or dosing too low (w/ hgh) then yes, there is such a thing called overtraining.
-
just remember to post a pic of the hugeness you gain from this...
-
that is obviously more than you weight Jay Cutler
i am also much taller thus i have much farther range of motion thus im moving 325 further than Jay's 310 bodybuilb
i am certain i can do more reps and more range of motion that Jay
ill even step on a scale to show my weight
the winner gets a nice programable keyboard to make music and 1000 dollars to spend on hoes
-
Just got off the phone with Jay.
He's considering the challenge and will throw a mouth guard and some of his special bread into the prize pool.
-
how many more lifes have i changed with me

hahah jay is a pussy isnt he
-
Jay should do this, if he has any plans to keep being relevant
you might have to lift him up to where he can reach the bar, I think jay might hurt his bicep though?

Imagine during a thunder storm little Jay curling up in falcons right bicep

maybe jay's beats could be playing in the backround during this challange, what you think falcon?
-
Jay wouldn't take up this challenge. He wouldn't have the stamina needed in order to do 20-30 pullups in strict, proper form, while moving 275-300 pounds.
Johnny, you have him beat even before trying.

Experts are paying more attention to athletes' recovery since the sudden deaths of futballers from heart problems. Don't overtrain!

na thats because they OD of caffiene happens all the time people die from caffiene use
-
he is such a child ain't he
what kinds of repercussions would happen if Jay loses to a fat outof shape falcon natural doing pullups is because fat failcan has redneck truck strenth while jay wil have to return some fake supplements to some fans
-
The man just had open bicep surgery , no way he could even do a single pull-up!!!
But I bet he has no problem lifting heavy boxes full of t-shirts off the floor to the selling table
-
U really tipping the scale at 320lbs johnny??? Big dude all the way big dude

I'd love to see you do 30 pullups at 200lbs.

I don't think he would take the challenge. Man has t-shirts, videos, and thongs to sell no way he'll put that at risk.
Jay wouldn't put him self at risk of looking bad compared to you or a Georgia boy like this.
