STella, the closest I've come is a needle aspiration. I know people who have had it done and they report it's quite uncomfortable. Is it something you're considering, or that has been recommended to you? Did you find a lump?
-
I've had it and they are more uncomfortable and painful
I wish there was only non painful ways to totally explore breast tissue but I don't see that happening
TBH I think mammograms are tortuous and outdated in our day and age of technology

TBH we don't need to know the answers to such personal private things :o
we only should add what we can to answer the topic and that's all

It does seem to be a crude and primitive technique, but I think it is still considered the "gold standard" for initial diagnosis. I have several friends who perform ultrasound exams of breasts, which is much, MUCH less invasive. However, I don't believe that they perscribe that examination until after you receive the mammogram.
My friend had fibroadenomas years ago, on which they performed routine ultrasound imaging to measure, further assess, and monitor.

I'm in total agreement with you there. Not to mention it's also slightly sadistic.

She is free to respond openly in the forum or in PM if she chooses, ...as well as free to not even respond to the question at all, if she chooses.

I would think everyone's first choice would be ultrasound.
The mammogram as the "gold standard" diagnostic tool is actually now beginning to be challenged (Thank God). Research a while back was actually not only challenging mammograms as the first tool, but rather suggesting frequent mammograms could indeed be playing a significant role in the creation of breast cancers. It's still all very highly controversial.

I look at it like something that has to be dealt with and I bear thru it .. not fun .. but necessary
I sometimes wonder if since this way serves it's purpose it's become more or less a non issue for technology to improve upon it really .. like they say
if it ain't broke ?

That reasoning is quite possible.
But, consider this: at least you ladies don't get the "finger-up-the-ass" exam!

I'm sorta glad for you guys they don't use one on you instead of the finger/glove snap visit

I'd love to know who came up with the protocol for that exam, and exactly what they were doing when they thought of it. Then again...maybe not.
Seriously, how accurate can it be? What, do they count "how many knuckles deep?"

Yep, I can see it now; the slang term for it would be "the nutcracker!"

I am a sicko when it comes to funny scenarios that can "crop up" when I'm thinking of these "exams" for both women and men
it is totally funny to me thinking of it
what would a Dr's face look like if a big burly guy walked in and he's thinking oh noes I gotta what ? to him ? oh gawd
then when the speech is over and the second before the big guy turns around to bend over .. he touches the Dr's cheek and says don't worry little guy .. it's OK then blows a kiss
LMAO ;D
like whoever was the very first person to eat an egg ... and the timing of when they ate the next one .. was the first one in embryo stage and did they try one and have it feathered ?
omygosh .. some things do make me laugh ;D

How was it?
I've had it and they are more uncomfortable and painful
I had the regular one and started sweating and almost passed out. They made me sit down and brought me cold water. How is the diagnostic more uncomfortable and painful than the regular? Do they take a bunch more views or squish them harder than usual? :-[
I would think everyone's first choice would be ultrasound.
I think that is ordered too.
-
How was it?
She is a nice girl. But not my type. Also, I have this weird rule that I can't be the skinny one in the relationship. I rather have spent the $100 on dinner/movie and some cheetos for myself.

I've been told that I have very gentle hands and am very thorough. In case this helps you out any. ;) :-*
