I think he did one full pull up towards the end. Still impressive though, but what's the point? I was doing 190+ push ups when I was 17 yrs old. Only did that because I had no fucking clue what else to do.  ;)

If you can do half pullups or even worse, kips you can brag you can do 30 plus pullups. Same with dumbbell shoulder presses or dumbbell incline presses. If you do half reps by not going all the way down you can grab those 120lbs plus dumbbells to show everyone how strong you are.  ::)   Don't get me going on leg presses.

I saw 2 full pull-ups at the very end of that video.

Those looked like partial pull-ups in that the individual didn't go down any further than mid-range.  It's comparable to doing push-ups with your knees raised.

you guys are idiots.

this guy is working the exact correct range for back.

the full hang only means that you engage minor muscle at the start, its a pointless waste of energy.  Furthermore this guy doesnt give his back any rest at all- its in constant tension the whole time- making it even harder. The body of the muscle is used from about 1/3 up to 4/5 up.

its the same as for bench, biceps curls and a whole load of other movements.

the form is fine.

Hey relax, in fact I do the chins in the exact same way but the question is how many chin ups in a minute, those are not real chin ups from a judgingh criteria point of view, get it. ;)

pressing movements yes i can agree with onnce th range is PAST 3 1/4 of the move however for me chins I think stretching the lats at the bottom is very important
..
So HELL no that isnt harder than going all the way down

I used to knockout that rep range from a dead hang, chin over bar. You didn't do one full rep that was about a 2 inch rom.

Jesus fucking christ.

I'm thinking that i am going to see something impressive and i see this shit.

Before you did your set was the purpose of that set to work the muscles or was the purpose of that set to see how many chinups you can do?

......If the purpose was to see how many chunups you can do then you should have used a full range of motion...

....if the purpose was to work the muscle then you shouldn't have labelled the video "how many chinups you can do".....

As far as I am concerned you are in a no win situation here, remember this is getbig. 8)

When I started doing weighted pull ups and by going all the way down and only half way up, the width of my back exploded compared to doing what this kid is doing.

Someone needs to do an experiment.  Juice for 3 months while only doing pushups, situps, Pull-ups, and bodyweight squats.  Then, take 6 months off from juice and training all-together.  Then, start the same cycle but lift heavy with weights.  It would be very interesting to see the difference.  I think there wouldn't be much.

you guys are idiots.

this guy is working the exact correct range for back.

the full hang only means that you engage minor muscle at the start, its a pointless waste of energy.  Furthermore this guy doesnt give his back any rest at all- its in constant tension the whole time- making it even harder. The body of the muscle is used from about 1/3 up to 4/5 up.

the form is fine.

So what you are saying is that you tell everyone you are capable of 30 pull ups knowing if you went from dead hang to all the way up you couldn't do 10.  Any one want to know what I run the 100 meter sprint?  I only do 90 meters but hey  it's the same thing. The premise what was put forward was how many pull ups in a minute. You can't have one guy doing partial reps comparing to a guy doing full reps.
