Riight. ::)

BFD - he was talking about the 2008 campaign
shall we all watch the videos where a Romney says he is pro-choice and more in favor of gay rights than Ted Kennedy. How about the one where he says a blind trust is just a "ruse" and you can still tell the trust what do.
It seems Romney has decided to make his entire campaign about creating a lie about a poory constructed sentence and eventually the smart Repubs are going to get tired of this lie and want him to talk real issues but the problem is that he can't.
It's the same stupid tactic as Palin constantly talking about Obama "palling around" with terrorists. The majority of voters were smart enough to realize how stupid this was and quickly got tired it of hearing it and yet Palin kept flogging that straw man until the bitter end.

Right, don't worry about Obama failing to deliver on his promises or for being the most partisan President in recent history. And don't mind the fact that it's been the Democrats who have been running a distraction campaign based on Romney's job creation record as a businessman and when Romney might have quit from Bain Capital.

He's delivered on some and been stymied on others and if you recall he started out with attempting to be partisan with the only result of having Repubs turn against their own sponsored legislation in an effort to never do anything bipartisan, even if by their actions they harm the country. When you've got Mitch McConnel saying their partys primary goal is to make Obama a one term president it's pretty obvious who is more to blame for partisanship and deadlock in this country
Obama has and will continue to run on his record and Romney will attempt to run by distorting Obamas's words and then trying to run against the lie's he's created and pretend he is actually running against Obama and that will only workd for a certain segment of morons who are too stupid to see through it and the longer he does it the smaller that group will become

repubs aren't talking about that record. They're talking about how much libs are mad about an anti-gay statement by an old man.
that's what matter to the base, who probably can't read that chart to begin with.
-
Here is the only record that matters.
wrong but it doesn't even matter because that's not what Romney is even going to be talking about
he's going to focus on fighting against a lie and by doing so pretending he's actualy fighting Obama
the problem with that is only handful of dopes will actually believe it and be influenced by it

Knee-padding talking points. All of it.
2008-2010 Democrats had 57 seats in the Senate plus two left-wing independents and 256 seats in the House.
The only things Obama and the Democrats got done was more wasteful spending, more bailouts, more corporatism, more violations of our civil liberties, and more unconstitutional wars.

how exactly is telling the truth knee padding
Obama is and will continue to run on his record and Romney will continue to run away from his own record
Romney is free to talk about actual issues and yet is seeming to have chosen to run against a straw man argument instead of his own record (which of course he can't because it's toxic) or even Obama's record (which only highlights the divisiveness of his own party)
btw - please go look up the record of the current Congress (run by Repubs who have been stymied by the teabad contingent) and tell me what they have done
hint - they have been the least productive congress ever and this is just from the perspective of the basics of their job such as passing appropriations bills, etc..
If you want to know why nothing can get done in this country and who is to blame that would be the place to look for your answer and those are undisputable facts
-
Of course Reid is blameless in all of this too. ::)

mostly yes.
Obama's idea of compromise is to give Repubs 80% of what they want
Repubs idea of compromise is to vote against their own sponsored legislation if/when Obama and the Dems get onboard.
These are not my beliefs - these are actual verifiable facts

Come on now!
Reid won't even bring up budgets for a fucking vote!

Obama is and will continue to run on his record and Romney will continue to run away from his own record
If you've been watching any of the TV ads, none of them go any further in favor of Obama than to say "he TRIED to protect our jobs." LOL. Whereas the ads hitting the airwaves against Romney have been far more numerous.

He has been talking about the issues and he does have a plan - unlike Obama. See, for example, the Paul Ryan budget plan. Where is Obama's proposed path to fiscal responsibility? Oh right, it doesn't exist.
btw - please go look up the record of the current Congress (run by Repubs who have been stymied by the teabad contingent) and tell me what they have done
For one, passed an Audit the Fed bill with 3/4 majority and bipartisan support, yet Harry Reid in the Senate vows to kill it.
Furthermore, here are 30 jobs bill passed by the House but stuck in the Senate:
What's happening is relatively simple: the Democrats are refusing even the minor long-term spending controls and tax reforms offered by the Republicans. They are completely uninterested in anything besides pushing their far-left agenda on the country.

why should he
at this point Politics at the federal level is solely about the polictical parties
when you have one party saying their only goal is to defeat the POTUS (and at a time when we really need the two parties to work together for the benefit of this country) the only sane thing to do is have tghe same fight that your opponent is bringing to you
This country will remain in gridlock until one party has all the power and I blame that about 95% on the Republica party

Right, don't blame the Democrats for not putting forth a SINGLE budget that sets us on the path to fiscal responsibility, right? Or for proposing any Medicare or Social Security reforms, as the Republicans have done? Or for proposing bipartisan tax reform plans (lowering tax rates while broadening the base for a revenue-neutral plan)? Or for moving forward on their promise to lower corporate tax rates without killing our competitiveness overseas?
And don't blame them for the fact that they had a 59 seat majority in the Senate plus a majority in the House and a President in the White House for two years and didn't do jack shit.

shouldnt that number have turned around in jan 2011 when repubs took over congress? ???

Thirty jobs bills passed by them never made it through the Senate.

Romneys plan is lower taxes on the wealthy and less regulation
even though that has never worked in creating jobs and only resulted in larger deficits and more industrial accidents that seems to be irrelevent to the Romney campaign
Dems shold give Repubs nothing unless they get compromises and true bipartisanship
If the Repubs plan is to say "give us exactly what we want and in return we'll give you nothing that you want" then why would the Dems do that?
The most basic part of the job of congress is to pass legislation
from that standard the current congress is the most do nothing congress ever

How about we reverse this monstrosity and they start repealing laws for once?

that chart is an indictment of not only Bush but the Republicans
The jobs fell off a cliff in early 2008 through early 2009 and only stabalized AFTER Obama came into office
The fact that they haven't shot back up in the opposite direction is directly related to Republicans not wanting to do anything to help the middle class..... period
and even though corporate profits have done a V shaped rebound (mostly in part to Obama stabalizing the financial system) the middle class has yet to see any improvement
Romneys plan is to come in an cut taxes again on the wealthly and cut regulations and somehow that is supposed to fix the problem

Spent 6 trillion dollars and we have nothing to show for it.

sure he has something to show for it
he can show that he paid the interest on the debt accumulated under former POTUS's

learn to read
I didn't say he was paying DOWN anything
the last POTUS to pay down debt was Clinton

Romneys plan is lower taxes on the wealthy and less regulation
And capping nonmilitary discretionary spending and reforming Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security in order to balance the budget in the long term.
What has been Obama's plan for eventual fiscal responsibility, which would help bring back confidence to business? He doesn't have one - besides promises to raise taxes, which would be disastrous (http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=432783.0).
even though that has never worked in creating jobs and only resulted in larger deficits and more industrial accidents that seems to be irrelevent to the Romney campaign
The actual economic data seems to be irrelevant to you, such as this econometric study conducted by two Harvard economists (http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=432783.msg6230482#msg6230482) proving that tax cuts are more stimulatory than spending and that spending cuts are a better way to balance the budget than tax hikes.

If the Repubs plan is to say "give us exactly what we want and in return we'll give you nothing that you want" then why would the Dems do that?
Why should either side compromise on principle when both can work on things they agree on? Like, say, the Audit the Fed bill which has bipartisan support and passed the House with 3/4 of the vote. Or, say, reforming the tax code to make it simpler. Or reforming Medicare and Social Security to make them more sustainable. Yet it is Obama and the Democrat-controlled Senate which have slowed progress.
The most basic part of the job of congress is to pass legislation
from that standard the current congress is the most do nothing congress ever
Notice that that graph is for Congress, not the House. The Senate has been controlled by the Democrats and it has been the chief killer of new bills passed in the Republican-controlled House, like the bipartisan Audit the Fed bill which passed with 3/4 support. The Senate even unanimously rejected Obama's budget proposal when the Republicans forced a vote on it.

Did the debt ever go down year over year? Yes or no?
here you go
Now let's look at Clinton's tenure. Using the public debt figures, we see that the debt rose year by year during the first four fiscal years of Clinton's stewardship, then fell during each of the following four fiscal years, from a 1997 peak to a 2001 trough.
So using this measurement, Clinton is correct that "we paid down the debt for four years," though he did overestimate the amount that was paid down when he said it was $600 billion. The actual amount was $452 billion -- which was equal to about 12 percent of the existing public debt in 1997.
But what about gross federal debt? On this score, NewsBusters is correct: In each fiscal year from 1993 to 2001, the gross federal debt increased, because the increase in money in government trust funds exceeded the annual decreases in the federal budget deficit.
So by one of these measures, Clinton is correct, and by another, he's wrong.

you'll be happy to know we have massive spending cuts coming when the Bush Tax cuts expire
don't you think that's a great compromise
your side gets the spending cuts they want which benefits both sides and the left get's tax increases which also benefit both sides

So once the GOP took over in 1994 and Clinton declared the era of big govt was over and they actually worked together to slash spending and do welfare reform things got better right?
