I'm dissapointed by this year's olympia.. last year was tough as i loved jay but phil brought it on...
This year... i gotta admit kai shoulda won when i rewatched again and took away my hate bias against kai (i hate him). Kai did have better conditioning and size... and being taller always looks better.
That being said.. I am unimpressed with this year's olympia... but Shawn Roden impressed me with his physique.. if he can keep the gut in check and magically retain the same symetry and condintiong in his physique but add size he may be the real contender of next year.
What do you think.

Dreams are dreams, but I believe that he will place 3rd again next year if Jay cutler will not compete. (gifts you know)
Victor martinez is also possibility to get 3rd spot.
Flexatron and philsuline are best looking olympia contenders of this year.
Kai still needs to bring his waist little bit more down.

YES. If he can get the funds to up his dosage and come in harder, he will win. Phil has maxed out his frame already.

Proportions, symmetry, overall aesthetic is fine but he lacks density. Which is why his conditioning looks like shit probably. He can only come full but soft. He'd shrink otherwise. The judges will rather give it to some rubber monster with veins popping out of nowhere.

I don't get the fascination with Rhoden at ALL. He's vaguely reminiscent of Flex Wheeler from an angle or two. He has a small waist and pretty big arms.
He's also smooth, lacks "pop" as others have said, and in some poses his arms go, in the immortal words of $20 Louie, "Go doo nuffin'." That hands-on-hips MM is a perfect example. I think if Cedric McMillian ever gets his head out of his ass and gets in contest-shape, he'd school all but the top two guys.

I know practically everybody here likes to think Kai won the last Olympia, but I still think Phil had it. Break it down by compulsories. Just how many did Kai actually WIN? Front biceps? BZZZT. Puny forearms, smooth abs, flat chest. Rear biceps? BZZZT. Arguably better legs, but good as Kai's back is, his traps are ridiculously weak.
I'd like to see a pose-for-pose comparison between the two. As noted, it seems like 90% of Getbig just hates "Philinsulin," and I do understand at least some of the reasons why.
Hatred for him aside, seriously: where did Grapefruit really BEAT him? And what do Grapefruit's supporters say about his very, VERY weak poses, like the traditional most-muscular? Overlooking Yates' torn biceps is one thing, but disregarding an entire pose is another.

Phil. Looks bigger and thicker in the arms department. Also better chest depth from the side.

Feel like just giving this one to Phil since it's close but to be honest I think Kai's looks more peeled and wider in the most muscular. Displays his leg striations better too.

if he has the potential to win I hope he changes his posing. it screams arrogance ( which is completely different than confidence) and makes it looks like he thinks he is way better than he is. I don't care what he looked like coming into a show, if he posed like this I would be pissed if he won

He looks alot better in video than in pics. I'm might have to change my mind about him. One thing to note though he is 40.
He put on alot of size since he's turned pro. His legs are fucking sick especially with great calves. Best abs in the pros now. Chest needs to be fuller, biceps aren't as bad as I thought but they do need more separation between bis and tris. His back is good in lat spread because he's a decent width. But his back needs to be more dense and detailed. Other than that. I take back what I said about him he could shake things up at the O. Phil, Kai, Jay and Rhoden, I might have to buy front row seats for this, it will be a legendary Olympia.

Make no mistake he is gunning for the O with every intention of winning it. You don't skip the Arnold when you are the favorite to win the Arnold unless you have your mind on a bigger prize.
Why can he win?
1. His income has quadrupled and money goes along way in bodybuilding
2.He did like 8 shows last year yet he still placed 3rd, with a whole year off?
3. Momentum, he jumped leaps last year and was the biggest rising star
4. He came in 3rd without even being as shredded as Phil or Kai, so just imagine if he nails his conditioning.
5. He has the best insertions in bodybuilding, he also has the smallest waist and joints in bodybuilding. He has insane separation.
6. Ronnie is in his corner, for those who think this counts for nothing, hahah lol.

I disagree. Joints and insertions means jack in modern bb and it is easy to say "if" he nails it. Kai and Phil are consistent guys.
Too many ifs. Between Kai and Phil and a 2009 version of Jay - until Rhoden can show more size and conditioning.

We are only discussing possiblilities so ``if`s`` is all we got to go by but these if`s are not far-fetched. I do agree with you on joints and insertions count for nothing since they gave Branch 2 Arnold titles though.

Also I believe Rhoden will either win/get close 2nd or place far in the top8. Thing about Phil Heath that everyone seems to miss is that guy is CONSISTENT. Apart from the year with food poisoning (or whatever that was actually) he was always in shape and improved, year after year. Yet now, due to his obvious sctructural limitations I see no room for improvement.
Rhoden is no Wheeler like many people seem to believe, he has many flaws but there's no one better than him right now. Martinez was way more talented but he ruined it and it's over for him. Cutler? He's in the same league due to size but I don't think judges are gonna be as blind as they used to be this year.
No one else really stands a chance, everyone who thinks Kai has real chance to win anything more than yet another AC is delusional.

Eh, I dunno if I can agree on that count, Mes. Kevin Levrone's biceps weren't peaked, but they were huge and very impressive IMO.
