Nope. The whole point of being a vegetarian is for the improved health benefits (along with some misguided notion that humans aren't meant to eat meat and it's morally wrong to).

people abstain from animal products for a variety of reasons and even those that do it for so called "health" reasons can still easily consume more calories than they burn, especially if they are sedentary

I have seen other fat vegetarians... I chalk it up to too much processed cheese.
Vegetarian and Vegan are two different things... Let's not forget that.

I imagine their lack of protein means they have little muscle mass which equals a very slow metabolism. They eat all kinds of almonds and shit which actually add up faster than they realize.

More like processed foods, simple sugars, fats, and a sedentary lifestyle.
Plus, you also have to ask WHEN they became vegetarians. Growing up as a kid, I saw plenty of ladies at my church, preaching and becoming vegetarians.....after 20+ years of eating hog maws, chitlins and every part of the pig but the squeal. Once they ended up with every type of "-itis" known to man and were well over three bills, they became vegetarians.

Many times when people's witch to being a vegetarian they often over compensate with increased carb and fried foods intake. If you don't exercise, don't watch your portion size, and eat too many empty calories aka white shit you get fat. No meat required, just add ranch dressing.

a diet higher in protein keeps you leaner than a diet with lower protein.
it only makes sense that as one cuts out meat from their diet that they would start to add on the fatty tissue.
