China has embraced the challenge of putting up the world's tallest building in only 90 days. The 838-meter skyscraper, dubbed Sky City, is set to house 17,400 people as well as a hotel, a hospital, several schools, offices and apartments.
Construction workers from the Broad Sustainable Building company are expected to build at a rate if five stories a day to meet the deadline

It's all modular... pre-fab... all they do at the construction site is snap it all together. THAT takes 90 days. But putting together the pre-fabricated units probably took much much longer.

On the other topic China's wealth comes from exports. They pay their workers crap and no other country can compete with this slave factory wages. If the US ever wakes up and realizes that they should be manufacturing their own crap and puts heavy tariffs on China imports, the China economy will crash. Look at Walmart, Costco and Bj's and the percentage of Chinese goods they sell. The stores would be empty without China. GM is making their car parts in China. Hell even many Gibson guitar models are made in China.
Once a can opener factory in the US realizes they don't have to pay union wages, medical, taxes and rent along with every other expense they go to China to make them. Now they pay pennies on the dollar to have them made in China leaving all the employees involved in the can opener factory unemployed. I know some would say who wants a can opener factory job. The factory employs secretaries, accountants, security guards, janitors, factory workers, truck drivers and pays taxes. These workers pay taxes too. The economy needs low level job as well as mid and high level. The economy can't rise without all three.

the company i work for gets fined 3500usd a day per working sector on the site.
from each company that cant start their work in said sector.
as we work in 10sector at the same time, the fines can be brutal.
the chinese houses are plug and play, though, like lego.
We have liquidated damages here, but are job dependent. Some are as little as $600 a day on small dot jobs, I've been on base facility jobs where the LD's were over a million dollars by the time it was all said and done.

Funny, how the Japanese in terms of some of their products, like cars, bikes, motors, have been criticized for taking too long for the development process, yet when the product comes out, they are praised for the high quality...It pays to take your time.

Speed of construction isn't entirely a political/economic issue. Standard concrete isn't regarded as having developed most of its strength until 28 days. Companies like BASF try to find ways to accelerate it but High Early Strength stuff that allows quick progress often sacrifices later development of full compressive strength.
As for 'liquidated damages' ::) if you tell me you're going to sting me if I'm late then I'm going to double or triple my price. Who would accept a far greater liability for no greater profit?
Imo unions are as exploitive as companies that unions are supposedly there to counterbalance. They just want your money, same as anyone.

Actually, those buildings are more durable than our own. They use a process called cellular construction to create and assemble these buildings so quickly. However, they are even more durable than a standard building because every piece is interlinked together.
Here in the US, there's a company in Florida that uses the same process to build homes. They can assemble everything in a few hours

If an arrangement reads like a list of reasons why they don't have to pay, particularly with things that aren't under my control like completion dates, I'd rather not be involved. It's a red flag that says the only way you'll get a check is when a court orders them to write one, assuming they haven't funneled all the money elsewhere by that point so they can claim bankruptcy. I'm not interested in playing someone's shell game.
I don't even extend credit to new clients since I see no upside to putting myself over a barrel for the privilege of financing someone else's project. Even if someone seems like they're going to be a bit difficult, or expects me to jump through a hoop or two to win a job, I bail. These are reasons why I'm small potatoes and will remain so, but if my gut doesn't like it I'm down the road.
Playing by someone else's rules, slanted to favor them, is a losing proposition. Do shit on your terms or not at all.

swiss is a mecca for all east european people,cause in their own country they earn 1/10 of the swiss paycheck,and then when they got home for holiday all the home boys look to them like they are richie rich!

Again, whatever industry you're in is nothing like commercial construction. LD's are assessed by state/federal agencies as well. These agencies, take the lowest competitive/competent bidder. You prequalify for the job, then bid, low number gets it, simple as that. Now, you can apply for things like rain days, and other things beyond your control, but if you don't finish because you are in over your head, or didn't get the proper material, you have to pay that. What would be the incentive to build a road in a shorter amount of time if there were no recourse from the state?

I wear heavy clothes works 10 to 13 hr days in summer. Literally speed walking all day carrying heavy shit in steel toe boots n all I drank all day was chocolate milk. Always had a cooler with a gallon in it lol.
