Are you saying that he should be able to go for his 9th?
I wonder if he gets a plaque, or a trophy (featuring a mangled car and drunk man throwing up)?

I'm saying life in prison for his crime is cruel and unusual. There's no denying that.
-
It's an interesting story. Not sure how I feel but under the three felonies rule, he is eligible for a life sentence..
Shit just got real..

it's definitely not cruel, and they should do it more often so it won't be unusual.

lol
-
Ridiculous and should be appealed....just take away his drivers license and its settled.
-
I'm saying life in prison for his crime is cruel and unusual. There's no denying that.
Whats cruel and unusual is the countless drunk drivers that kill innocent people, especially children.
I am glad they threw away the key. Now this idiot will never get the opportunity to kill anyone in a car accident.
-
Ridiculous and should be appealed....just take away his drivers license and its settled.
Youre stupid. yes because people who drive drunk only drive when they have licenses. You moron. Go away.

Ha! ;D

::) ::) ::) Yeah, he really is going to be too scared to drive without a license. Hell, they should just take away his insurance policy and he'll never dare do it again..
-

Look at my response to that moron. People drive without licenses all the time.

has he hit anyone? Injured anyone? He is definitely a danger to himself and others.
Unfortunately, you can take away someone's license, but you can't take away their ability to buy a vehicle.
People like him, will do what they want to do, regardless. Jail might be the only place where the public is safe, because he has no regard for himself or others.

please execute him...
costs money to store meat in jail

well said
milton and the kum swallower are both wrong on this one
if the guy had gotten a 9th dwi for running over and killing a dime piece tranny he wanted, milton would be screaming that the pos should have been locked up for life long ago
-
Look at my response to that moron. People drive without licenses all the time.
Yeah, I think Melvince was trolling. This guy has already served two years of a six year sentence for this shit and then came out and did it again . Taking away his license wouldn't do shit.
In fact, he probably doesn't even have a valid license anyway.
-

After that many times, you think the state would have taken it away by now :/

I'm not trolling....a life sentence for drunk driving??? I can understand if he's killed someone or even injured but this isn't the case. Take his license and seize his cars because you can't drive if you don't have a car and prohibit him from buying a car or motorcycle....then order him to attend an alcohol treatment facility
Its cheaper than paying 50k a year plus food and medical expenses to imprison him for life. ::)
-

Did you watch the news report? He did two years of a six year sentence for this shit. He has done drug and alcohol programmes and carries on doing the same thing. Taking his license - assuming he even has one after the felonies - won't do shit. They've given him a bunch of breaks and he has even done time, nothing has worked.
Aren't you supposed to be a former cop or something? You should know how many people drive with no license, insurance and steal/buy junk cars for peanuts.
It's too harsh until this guy slams into a family, kills everyone, and then the public are outraged he was still at liberty to do it.
Fuck him.

Deport that POS back to Mehico and let them deal with him.

Youre stupid. yes because people who drive drunk only drive when they have licenses. You moron. Go away.
Bingo.
He's a threat to society. He's had 7 chances to get his shit together. Ask any family who has had a member killed by a drunk driver if this is fair or if this cat deserves his 9th try.
-
holy livers batman. a .446? thats a fucking drunkard. how do you live through that?
anyway. hes an idiot and will never stop drinking an driving. but life is too harsh imo. Judge 'sol says 1 month for every point. so 44.6 months. hopefully he'll shit out his liver and die by then
case adjourned

A buddy of mine is a cop, said they got a call about a dude crashing into parked cars on the street. Dude hit 5-6 cars. They pull him over and said he literally fell out of the car. My buddy said the dude looked up at him with hollow eyes and let out a "fock you", he was from Boston. Anyway, they took him back to the precinct and he had a .53 BAC. And this dude was able to get into a car a try and drive. Shit is crazy. I don't smoke weed at all, but I'd much rather get on the road with someone who's been smoking than drinkin.

Its all fun and games until a close relative or friend is killed by a drunk driver. :-\ :-\

In our country, we typically do not incarcerate someone based on the potential to commit more crime.
I can understand a state prison sentence, especially based on progressive discipline, but a life sentence is ridiculous.

Yes I was a former officer but you can't imprison someone for life because of a crime he could "potentially" commit....especially since our laws allow the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
The punishment has to fit the crime and in this case, it certainly doesn't and it sets a bad precedent. Can you imagine people getting arrested for weapons procession and then getting the death penalty for "potentially shooting someone". Or maybe we can arrest a crack addict and sentence him for life for having the potential to traffic kilos of cocaine from Columbia ::)
-
Actually, you can lock people up for crimes they will potentially commit. They are called Habitual Offender Laws. Most states have them and they are used quite regularly.

There is the argument that alcohol is worse than weed...

In Canada you can murder someone or an entire family and only get a few years...which a disgrace!! But in the US, your criminal justice system is worse then that!! The US puts their people in Jail for the stupidest things!! The US will continue to crumble!! The USA better bow down to the new super power in the world...China!! They own the USA!!

So you are okay with this guy possibly killing someone on his 9th DUI? Obviously this guy is not going to stop,
and as such he is a danger to society. I don't want this idiot driving on the same streets I drive on. Fuck him.

The offense he committed was drunk driving. He didn't potentially drunk drive. He did it repeatedly. I can't believe you were a cop. If you were you were they fired you for some reason. Letting a person who will get behind the wheel drunk with a weapon being the car is fatality waiting to happen.
Using your logic if a guy gets drunk and repeatedly gets arrested for shooting out windows in houses he should not be dealt with harshly cause he didn't hurt anyone. We should wait until he hits someone in the house next time he gets drunk and starts shooting.
-
Dude must have gotten quite resistant to alcohol with those levels!

Think real closely....you are putting someone in prison for life...for drinking and driving. Even if he's done it 8 times, that's not the solution.
-
Funny thing is - it may well be that the guy was not drunk.
Alcoholics (which he obviously is) can function quite normally on booze. In fact, they cannot function without it. It would be interesting to see a vid of this guy getting pulled and how coherent he was.
If he goes cold turkey in prison, his sentence could be very short indeed if he is reliant on booze to function.
Alcohol is quite the drug.

Yep. Alcohol and benzo withdrawal can kill a person. All other drug withdrawals the person just thinks they are going to die

I was one of the first few motorists on the scene in 2007 when I was living in Calgary at the time and saw the after effects of an accident involving a drunk man named Daniel Tschetter, who was driving a cement truck when he plowed into the back of a car that was stopped at a red light and killed 5 people. The impact was so hard there were pieces of the car spread a quarter mile down the road. The guy served about 3 years in prison then was granted day parole, which allows him to serve his remaining sentence in a halfway house in the evenings. Guy was in denial the entire time. After he rear-ended the car killing the 5 people, he climbed out of his truck and threw the bottle of vodka he was drinking in the back of the cement mixer. He refused a breathalyzer test. When the police asked him why he smelled of vodka he claimed he must of mistook the bottle of vodka for a bottle of water. This guy was the most hated man in Calgary. Probably still is. What I saw with my own eyes that evening will be burned into my memory for life. The worst accident I have ever seen.
-
8 times he's taken other people's lives, willfully, into his own hands in negligent fashion. He has no regard for humanity or society. He does not deserve to live in a functioning society.
Life in prison is appropriate. I only wonder why it took 8 strikes. Three and you should be out.

This.
I don't understand the bleeding heart liberal mentality to keep giving this guy his 9th chance to get out and possibly kill someone. He is a ticking time bomb, the fact that he hasn't killed anyone yet is a MIRACLE. It's irresponsible to let him out.
I swear people don't fully fear and respect what it means to get behind a wheel of a car. You're driving a 2 ton missile through the streets. And this guy has been caught 7 times doing this!
You'd think by his 7th time he would have "gotten it." They gave him his 8th chance, and he f***ed that up too. Sorry, but he deserves this. I don't even have kids of my own yet, but the first concern I have is how is this guy gonna possibly hurt one of YOUR families one day.
Meltdown over.
-
wait , he killed 8 ppl while driving drunk?
he should be decapitated then
No, he's been caught drunk driving 8 times.

Fuck the wetback.

This. Fuck him. In the joint he can't breed or contaminate the rest of the world.

Perhaps Taco can bunk with this person.
"A woman accused of driving drunk when she hit a pedestrian and who allegedly kept going for more than two miles while he was stuck to her car is a substance abuse counselor, officials said today.
Sherri Wilkins, 51, is accused of hitting Phillip Moreno, 35, with her Mitsubishi Eclipse, causing him to roll onto the car’s hood and then through the windshield. Moreno became embedded through the windshield as she continued driving for 2.3 miles, according to Torrance police.
Bystanders who saw Moreno on the hood of the car called police and eventually forced Wilkins to come to a stop.
Wilkins told police she “panicked” when she hit Moreno Saturday night around 11:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Robert Watt of the Torrance police department. Her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when she was tested after the accident, Watt said.
Wilkins, a recovering addict, was working as a “chemical dependency counselor” at Twin Town Treatment Center, the company’s president David Lisonbee told ABCNews.com. He said that many counselors are recovering addicts. Lisonbee called the situation “tragic” and noted that Wilkins had not worked at the treatment center in the days leading up to the accident.
Moreno, who remained alive while embedded in the window, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He had been crossing the street when he was struck. Moreno’s family declined to comment about the accident.
Wilkins was charged with driving under the influence, felony hit and run, and manslaughter. She is being held on $100,000 bond and awaiting her arraignment, Watt said.
Lisonbee said that the situation highlights the need for counselors to prioritize their own recovery.
A similar case occurred in 2003 when Chante J. Mallard, who was 27 at the time, had been drunk and high on marijuana and Ecstasy when she hit Gregory Biggs. Biggs was partially thrown through the windshield. Mallard drove with him to her house, afraid to call police while she was intoxicated. She parked her car in her garage, apologized to Biggs and left him. She and a friend later dumped Biggs’ body in a park.
Mallard was convicted and sentenced to 50 years in prison."

Lol thats the type of thought that your government needs from you, preemptive sentencing.
Hey, you had a gun with you - You could have killed a lot of people - LIFE IN PRISON!!!
The punishment has to fit the crime, and unfortunately as fucking revolting as this subhuman was, he did "only" drink and drive.

First of all 7 prior DWI, obviously he didn't have a licence, ya take away his license, good one Vince, you know the license he DIDN'T have.
Second his last sentence was for 6 years in jail, so where do you go from here. If someone Rapes someone and gets 6 years and does it again, he will probably get life or if someone gets caught with 10 kilos of cocaine and gets 6 years and gets caught again he probably get life. If someone gets 6 years for robbing a bank and does it again, he will probably get life. This is the way it works, he already got 6 years so life is appropriate.
-
Good! Before he kills someone! Selfish SOB!

He was let out early....give him 12 years and make him serve all the time. But 35 years minimum before a chance at parole is too extreme

The jury of his peers had options like that. They chose to give him the maximum available.
-
The jury of his peers had options like that. They chose to give him the maximum available.
Yes they did....but I still think its too extreme and it will likely be overturned on appeal. There's a limit on the amount of prison time you can give for certain offenses
-
Texas is one of the toughest states out there. Getting a sentence reduction is not easy. Judicial procedure has been followed and ,under habitual offender laws, the life sentence is perfectly legal in the state of Texas.
Looks like speedy Gonzales is staying in the big house for some time.
-
Fuck this piece of shit. Most right-minded people couldn't give a fuck about this waste of humanity. The guys crying about this are an unemployed weed smoker that has declared he will never pay taxes again and some unemployed ,compulsive-liar gay guy that lives in a trailer. Big lol@ people thinking Goodrum was a cop; he did a training trial as a jail warder under affirmative action and got kicked off after two weeks. This was dug up by Keith and exposed on here.
-
Faulty logic:
Give him life for what he MAY do.... Same theory behind most drug laws : " dope fiend MAY steal for dope money, so hammer them."
Stupid
-
Good riddance!
so your ok with the government paying $40 000 per year, and possible private companies using citizen tax dollars to house him?
-
Faulty logic:
Give him life for what he MAY do.... Same theory behind most drug laws : " dope fiend MAY steal for dope money, so hammer them."

No, give him life for his third felony. Three strikes and you're out. It is NOT about what he might do; it is what he has already done.
-
Ive been on both sides of this when it comes to family/friends. I have had a 2nd cousin, close family friend, and someone I knew pretty well killed by a drunk driver.. My neighbor is also serving 15 years currently for killing someone while drunk, from killing a girl and severely injuring her boyfriend literally a block away from my parents house two years ago.
This guy was a piece of shit, I feel no sympathy for drunk drivers and his irresponsibility. It is only a matter of time before someone is hurt.
-
Being in Texas, he's lucky they didn't execute him.
-
I'm not defending the Dorito bandito here. And if he hurt some one then bing bang boom gone for ever. But dwi is a non violent crime. Not even a felony until you rack up 3 or 4. At least in california
-
The relatives of the people this asshole may have killed are glad he's locked away for good. He would have continued to drive no matter what.
It's harsh but not a harsh as taking an innocent person's life. Who knows, they may have actually saved this nut from killing himself.
-
Fuck this piece of shit. 8 TIMES?! When you have a friend who was killied by a drunk driver who has already been arrested for 2 dwi (as you call it) you'll understand why i talk like this.
One of the things on everyone's mind when someone dies because of a filthy piece of trash like this is "why the fuck isn't he locked up from previous dwi's?"
Well i'm glad he didn't kill anyone and he's not getting a 9TH CHANCE!!!
Hope he gets ass fucked in prison!
-
there is nothing fun about a fucking Drunk head behind a wheel.....I think the punishment for drunk drivers should be Harsh in all 50 states.....if there are casualties, Life in Prison should be Mandatory
-
This guy is a POS, but at the same time, there are convicted rapists and murderers getting shorter sentences.
-
True. Titus is doing less time for destroying a jaguar.
