More like disgusting. How the fuck do they justify paying these retards that much? Just in the past year, they have signed Pujols, C.J. Wilson, and Hamilton for over 400 million dollars!!! No three players are worth that much. Yankees are finding out the hard way about long, guaranteed contracts.
-
will be running wild in Orange County fucking all the Lonely Millionaire whore wives, hope Vanessa Bryant is on his list to do
But that Angels Line up will be Great, give the yankees a scare, and they already One up on the Rangers when they play next year
Artie Moreno will make even more moves before the end of next season

Yankees are the New England Patriots of baseball dude, in it every year. how they do it financially is irrelevant.
back on topic...Trout, Pujols and hamilton as your 3,4,5, hitters? jesus christ.

It sounds good, but will they all stay healthy? Will Hamilton stay on the wagon? Is Pujols closer to 40 then he admits? You are wrong about the Patriots being the Yankees of football. The Patriots are notorious for being cheap with contracts. They are still an elite team. They don't buy the best for the most every off-season.

will anybody stay healthy ? that's sports.
and you're missing the point...it's doesn't matter HOW you win..as long as you win ... The Yankees always win, The Patriots always win..it's that simple
plenty of teams with huge payrolls don't do shit

Well there was the 80's where the Yankees took a big Massive shit and were dead for a decade, but nobody really remembers 80's baseball isnt important when the yankees suck
Angels are hoping Pujols Doesnt have the kinda start he did last year, Trout is an amazing young player, exciting, cant hit , field and steal , guy is all around, i never saw mickey mantle play but alot of old timers say Trout is a player identical to SEVEN "7"

But you have to admit that the Yankees big boys ( Cano, Rodriguez, Swisher, Granderson etc...) Choked the big one. All that money wasted.

Yeah that's a pretty lethal string of batters. I'm not entirely sold on Hamilton, but it'll be nice having a left power bat, particularly in the later innings. Hopefully Morales bounces back a bit this year, too, because he certainly showed a ton of promise at the plate before his little mishap.
-
the Angles still have to pay Vernon Wells 21 million dollars for each of the next two seasons :-\
-
Perfect example of Yankees overspending: They sign that fat bastard Youkilis to a 1 year, 12 million dollar contract. Just to fill in for Arod who will get hip surgery. Yankee fans wonder why ticket prices are so high ::)
-

Yankees got cold at the wrong time, and ran into a hot team...that's baseball. the same players have won the world series.
everyone talks about payroll. like their team plays for free.

What is it with New England fans that they have to bitch about New york teams every chance they get ? This thread isn't even about The Yankees.

Yes Groink, but why guarantee a guy for 10 years (like Arod, Pujols ?) fucking stupid!!!! Sure they were great when you sighned them, but they will be horrid towards the end of those deals.

Baseball Union ???
i saw about 15min of money ball on cable last week, but the girlfriend ask me to go with her Christmas tree shopping >:(, seemed like a good flick, time to get it on DVD and finish watching it

Because they can get the money, the market is what it is.

I'm actually an A's fan 8) The A's are a perfect example of what a smart G.M. can do for a team. They went to the playoffs with a fraction of the payroll as the big boys. I personally think they could use a few more stars myself. Cashman is a perfect name for that reckless G.M. in New York.

Thing is Cashman CAN'T do what Oakland does. Players know the yankees have money and hold them up to play there. And use the Yankees to get better deals elsewhere.

the Yanks will finish below the Blue Jays next season.

No, they won't.

Perfect example of the Yankees using their money wisely - signing a third baseman who had a good line drive % combined with an unusually low BABIP, which should correct, to a ONE year deal, which is perfect for getting them on goal with 189M for 2014, resetting the luxury tax clock, and saving them about 100M.

Where was he reckless?

Where was he reckless?
I guess he was reckless in putting together a team that goes deep into the playoffs year in and year out

Dead before 2014

Exactly, and, if anyone's been paying attention, he's shown nothing but restraint since he got full control, only splurging after 2008, which led to a WS in 2009.

IM an angels fan that is excited but who cares anway, according to wiggs the world is gonna end in a few days anyway so why worry??? :-\ :-\ :-\

Anaheim's lineup is indeed nasty.

Vernon Wells? ???

mike trout is the shit tho!!!

Vernon Wells? ???
Yes its awful. But they only had Wells for 4 years. And they will most likely cut him lose after this year with only one year left. Easier to eat the money with only a year left. They got 9 more years of Pujols. That's insane.

Any deal that long is insane, but the problem is that there's most likely more than one GM willing to go there, so it becomes necessary.

Its good to see such a stable guy get tons of money! By the way Baseball is beyond boring I have not spent a dime on these greedy bastards since 1994!
-
Hamilton for whatever reason strikes me as a guy that I would not want to invest alot of money in :D. Reminds me of manny ramirez when he was with the dodgers....very hot cold type player dont get me wrog when he's on he's amazing but once a headcase always a headcase
-
Will be fun to see Anaheim vs. Blue Jays next year...
BTW, I have the Jays going to the World series in 13'

Toronto doesn't have the pitching yet. They've improved, but the AL East will still be tough, outside of Boston.
-
Oakland will still win that division

not many teams in the A.L. have a better starting three than Johnson, Buehrle & Morrow. (and if Ricky Romero bounces back into form then watch out.)

Two teams in their own division have a better three.
Buerhle gives innings, but he's average. Johnson was a beast in 10/11 but mediocre in 12 and will have an AL adjustment. Morrow's on pitched 124 innings last year. I like the moves Toronto made, but they're not there yet.

Hamilton complained of blurry vision last season. Reported that his blood sugar was way too high. Pre-diabetic. Probably has been on HGH for close to a decade straight.

There is an obvious solution to this problem: hire Johnny Falcon as the team's nutritionist.

Sounds almost as terrifying as Steve Nash, Kobe and Dwight Howard.
Or Gary Payton, Karl Malone and shaq.
Or Scottie pippen, Charles Barkley and Olajuwon
Better go ahead and jump on those 2 to 1 odds for the Angels to win the AL just like last year ::)
-
Athletics still bouta pound that ass
-
You would think he already had tons of money from all those blenders.

if the Blue Jays acquire R.A. Dickey from the Mets (as is rumoured could happen) then might as well start planning the World Series parade down Bay Street right now.

Lol! That won't even make them a lock for the division, let alone the WS.

they are Anaheim Angels or I'll even give them the California Angels.. Not LA angels or even the los Angeles angels of Anaheim.

Grandpa could have gone Pro in Baseball, but chose to serve his country instead during World War II. He never regretted that decision.

Of course nothing ever is a lock in sports. You gotta play the games. And things are even more unpredictable in short playoff series. But I'm fairly confident that (especially with two wild card teams now) the Blue Jays will be playing meaningful baseball games in October for the first time since Joe Carter's blast 20 years ago.
the latest MLB Odds in Las Vegas:
Toronto Blue Jays 15-2
Los Angeles Angels 17-2
Los Angeles Dodgers 17-2
Washington Nationals 9-1
Detroit Tigers 10-1
Cincinnati Reds 12-1
Texas Rangers 12-1
New York Yankees 14-1
Atlanta Braves 16-1
Philadelphia Phillies 16-1
San Francisco Giants 16-1
Tampa Bay Rays 22-1
Boston Red Sox 25-1
St. Louis Cardinals 25-1
Oakland Athletics 30-1
Milwaukee Brewers 35-1
Baltimore Orioles 40-1
Chicago White Sox 40-1
Arizona Diamondbacks 45-1
Kansas City Royals 50-1
Pittsburgh Pirates 50-1
Cleveland Indians 75-1
Minnesota Twins 75-1
New York Mets 75-1
Seattle Mariners 75-1
Chicago Cubs 100-1
Colorado Rockies 100-1
Miami Marlins 100-1
San Diego Padres 100-1
Houston Astros 200-1
As for the American League East?:
Toronto Blue Jays 3-2
New York Yankees 19-10
Tampa Bay Rays 5-1
Boston Red Sox 11-2
Baltimore Orioles 10-1

We'll see. Anaheim had Weaver/Wilson/Greinke and Puljos but missed. It will be all about a Johson bounceback, Dickey's AL adjustment, etc. And I'm not hating, just my thoughts. The AL east is as open as it's been in a decade. Every team has a shot, outside of Boston, although I believe Baltimore will regress.
-
Looks like the Jays are pulling a Miami marlins move back when they were the Florida marlins, stock up for a serious run and try and get a ring under your belt....and then have a fire sale in the next couple of years
The AL east is going to be fun to watch, and it is nice to see the Blue Jays making moves instead of being a glorified farm team for the rest of the AL for a change.
-
Yeah (Grape Ape, Groink), the A.L. East is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year. The core Blue Jays (except for Josh Johnson) are under contract for the next few years and so if they're successful this year I don't think it'll be a "one and done", but rather they should be in the mix for the next 3 years anyway.

Probably did that after two seasons.

Same has being said for the SF Giants in the past 3 years....... I guess some baseball fans just never learn..
You'll see this loogo a lot in 2013.....

Will be like 1993 all over.

he looks like someone with erectile problems due to drugs hes probably around 50

Toronto on paper looks really good. But will it translate to wins? Baltimore won way too many 1 run games last year. I'm thinking fluke. Yankees are very vulnerable this year. When will 320 pound CC start to break down? If Red Sox pitching sucks again this year, they have no chance. If they can get some decent pitching out of there starters, their lineup looks pretty good. Rays pitching is really good. But that's all they have. If their pitching doesn't hold up, they have no chance. So the East is wide open. However it looks like the wild card will come out of the West.
