Title: BREAKING NEWS -- Another Shooting Incident
Post by: The_Hammer on December 21, 2012, 11:48:15 AM
A series of shootings along a stretch of road in rural Pennsylvania has left four people dead and three state troopers injured, according to WJAC. Three men and one woman were killed on Friday about 70 miles west of Harrisburg, Blair County District Attorney Rich Consiglio said.

Today President Obama announced his intent to pass gun control.  Finally a president with common sense.

The NRA held a press conference today to address the rise in gun violence.

"The only way to stop the violence is to arm more good guys" was their solution...

As one reporter asked, "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" There have been a number of shooting incidents, over the last four years, including a congresswoman getting shot nearly 2 years ago.

This is nothing more that Obama, exploiting a tragedy, to advance a political agenda.  Gun control doesn't stop criminals. What part of that don't liberals get?

Obama's home town is arguably the murder capital of the country. Where's all his gun control flap about that?

OH! I forgot. Black people's shooting each other doesn't make good political currency.

it's insane to think you'd put 800 kids under age 10 in one location without one police officer for $40k a year.

Aside from the shooting risk, you also have very soft target for terrorism.  You also have custody disputes, 5th graders who can beat up teachers, car accidents in parking lot, etc.  I've been saying for years - you NEED one cop at every school.  Middle and high schools already have them automatically.  Cut one of those admin assistants who carry around a clipboard all day trying to look busy - and put a cop in every school.  Easy enough, common sense.

I think common sense agrees with NRA here.

sheet, Hollywood's violent movies can be one of the reasons why many countries (who'd want us to fall) haven't made sure we kick the bucket. Damn near everybody (men) like Stallone's, Arnold's, and other actors movies---in many parts of the world, violence is part of life.

And you know what happens in American culture, once we curb stuff, it either goes to the cornball "My Little Pony" way, or to the reality show way---due to greedy execs wanting to make fast cash, and a turn a profit.

Good plots and writing, that's a British trait.

Violent Video games, who do you think buys them for their (many times fat ass, mentally unstable, and socially inept) kids? The parents!

as you have said in the past. there is usually more to the story when one ghetto thug shoots another, drugs, money whatever. he probably had it coming.

when a madman kills 20 little kids in the first grade, there is no "more to the story"  except why the fuck would someone do that.

of course, because alot of the shootings in Baltimore Washington or Killidelphia are black on black, in the poorer areas and most importantly gang related where the victims know they're killers. Different when some dude blasts a bunch of women and children in suburbia. Cops dont put gang murders on priority.

Also, because shootings in said cities are ubiquitous, they are "expected",gives job security to police and judicial system, and takes the attention away from politicians, who really don't do jack for the cities, except take bribes.

A vicious cycle---Jalil gets shot, because Jalil might have shot someone else, or was selling on another dude's turf.
The saddest thing, is when you see a dude at 11, and you try and talk to him in the time you have, and you hope you don't see him in the same path, and you see him at 20something, and he has screwed up his life---with the same look in his eyes that he had at 11.

Too many liberals are quick to use the "personal responsibility" argument, when you go after their favorite form of entertainment, which might contribute to someone doing what Lanza did.

But, they don't do that with guns. They think that the instruments MUST BE BANNED (or heavily restricted).

They hide behind the first amendment, to protect their sacred cows, all the while they go after the second amendment.

Oh, there's is more to the story:

- Kids pick on him for having big ears in school.
- His mama didn't give him enough gummy bears, when he was little.
- He couldn't get a date for the prom.

they might claim 'posse commetatus', or however they spell it - cannot use military against civilians.   We'd need someone to take police reports for accidents, deal with restraining orders, etc.  Soldiers are trained to kill shit.  Typically, particularly in elementary school grades k-5, where they DONT have a cop now - ONE COP would probably be fine.  Attackers would stand out like sore thumbs.  Wearing a vest, it's a good chance he'll at LEAST hold off an assault on the school.  More likely, he'll shoot the attacker.

they already have 2-3 cops in high schools and 1-2 cops in middle school.   They're too cheap to put one cop in every elementary school - it only makes sense.

Armed guards at schools are all well and good but if they can't occupy effective defensive positions it's all for nothing.  At minimum we need to establish enough towers to provide an uninterrupted field of fire, as well as maintain a razor wire barricaded no man's land.  Remember: if you cannot hit the enemy, you cannot kill the enemy.

yes, but they ALREADY have cops in the higher grades - to break up fights, deal with accidents, deal with weapons, cutsody disputes, etc.  There is NO debate on if we need cops in high school - they are already there.

The only debate here is whether the smaller kids need them too.

school bus, i dunno.

daycares should have a cop - we're talking 300 to 400 kids.   VERY soft targets.  If a group of 3 people decided to take the door and kill, there would be hundreds dead.  The only defense is "well, people probably woudln't do that..."

you have mall cops, and people are way older there and can run, etc.   Why not require daycares (many of which are charging $175+ a week per kid) to pony up $40k a year for a cop?

Hi! Sounds great. How about a ssg with a machine-gun at High-school central?     ::)

In all seriousness, what are the statistics on this? There are plenty of other countries around the world with gun control laws, how does gun violence in those countries compare to that of the States?

Having to put armed officers at schools and daycare's, that is pretty radical. You think that is a better solution to stopping people opening fire on kids then just making it a lot harder for them to source the means to do so?

I understand that gun control isn't addressing the underlying issue, but what will? are there just more nut jobs in the states then everywhere else then?

Actually, it's not - it called being a human, and being civilized. Schools should be places of education and socialization for our young - now they are vehicles of politicization and fear. Things are so going off the rail.
Things have been worse.  :-\  Overall, violence is on the decline despite an ever growing population.

"The only way to stop the violence is to arm more good guys" was their solution...

He's dead on. At that shooting, a teacher saw the shooter coming towards her class. She got the kids out and hid them. he came in, the kids escaped but she got killed. Now....if she was armed and saw the shooter coming, she could have shot the shooter, END OF GAME. But since liberals are more concerned with an agenda instead of the actual safety of people they would and DO know this. They have no trouble ignoring the all of the guns that Obama put out there from fast and furious that are killing people now do they??

Here's an idea, how about Obama's security all go without guns when they run around protecting his sorry ass? Someone made a great point today..we have armed security at airports, banks, large venues, etc. How come they have armed guards protecting money but have no one protecting our kids. Earlier in the week, there was kid caught at my sons school and a credible rumor that there was to be a shooting on his campus today...needless to say, more than half the school didn't show up. the kid that was caught had a hit list he was keeping since the eighth grade. There's cops at schools all the time. Friend of mine was a school cop (LA Sheriff) in the Altadena school district. He was all during school hours. You'll fine them in more oppressed sections of town. But not in the Distinguished (it's a school ranking)areas.

x2Also, because shootings in said cities are ubiquitous, they are "expected",gives job security to police and judicial system, and takes the attention away from politicians, who really don't do jack for the cities, except take bribes.

A vicious cycle---Jalil gets shot, because Jalil might have shot someone else, or was selling on another dude's turf.
The saddest thing, is when you see a dude at 11, and you try and talk to him in the time you have, and you hope you don't see him in the same path, and you see him at 20something, and he has screwed up his life---with the same look in his eyes that he had at 11.

gang members and scumbags arent born Parker, they are created and developed, jsut poor products of their environment. people know the solution to these things, but they cost money and aren't worth fixing. like you said , public sector benefits from this evil machine.

not alot of ghetto areas and Windsor has a lucrative border crossing controlled by pretty serious organized crimes groups which put a damper on the low level black drug dealers who go to toronto to shoot eachother.

I had a friend stay with our family in High School.  His parents owned a large Construction Company and were very well to do.  He had a brother and sister who graduated with top honors and he was smart himself.  Well his parents "kicked" him out and he was staying with us as my mother always took in anyone who needed a place, plus he was a good friend of mine.  At the time, he was into breaking and entering cars and would go out at 11 am and then break in a lot of cars and then come back to my house at 3 am and go to school the next day.  I never went with him and I never bothered to stop him.  No reason that he liked to do it other than he liked doing and and he would sell all the stuff. He even once stole a car beat it with a baseball bat and then drove it into a lake.  He never got caught for that.

He got more and more bold and started calling in bomb threats to the school.  One every week.  Keep in mind this was Pre-Columbine.  One night he attached a note to the front door of the school which stated that he planned to kill as many people at the school as possible.  He wrote it while staying at my house, with his left hand and pulling the letters to the opposite direction to disguise his hand writing.  Then came his next plan.  In the chemistry room, there were little gas jets that you could open for experiments at each work station.  His plan was to open all the gas jets at night and then place light bulbs which he drilled out and were filled with gun powder so when the lights were turned on in the morning, the whole thing would go boom.  Well he got the light bulbs in and turned the gas on, but it didn`t work the next day because they smelled the gas and cut it before anyone went into that room.

It didn`t really piss him off that much because he planned to burn the school down.  So a little while later, he breaks in and sets fire to the school.  Burns a good portion of it.  I remember him crawling through a window of my house after he did it (I used to leave a window open for him so he could come and go) and was super excited.  He even showed up to school after that and a few of us knew.  He couldn`t keep his mouth shut.

The year went on and he was breaking into more cars and finally he got caught.  Somehow or another he admitted to burning the school down as well and then went to jail.  Just for a short time though.  A few years later he got work release and I got him to sign up to my gym over the summer, I was done that semester in College and he would come in every now and then, but we weren`t that close as we used to be.  Then I go back to school, which was over 100 miles aways, and I happen to go to a club and what do you know, there is my friend again, working the door to the club.  Never would have thought I would see him there of all people.

Anyways, he is now in charge of his own Construction Company, despite his record.  But yeah, at one point in his life, he wanted to kill as many people as he could and I saw it all first hand, the thought processes and all of it.

My friend, the one above who burned the school, used to steal his parents guns as well and shoot them.  I never went with him, but he and a few other of my friends used to get all of his guns and go driving around and fire indiscriminately, even at random houses.

I wonder if Columbine would have been earlier, and he had saw it all- the media sensationalism, if he would have tried something like that being moved by it all.

446 school age children shot in Chicago so far this year with strongest gun laws in country – media silent

The cesspool known as Chicago probably has the toughest gun laws in the country, yet despite all the shootings, murders, and bloodshed, you never hear a peep about this from the corrupt state run media. In Chicago, there have been 446 school age children shot in leftist utopia run by Rahm Emanuel and that produced Obama, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, etc. 62 school aged children have actually been killed by crazed nuts in Chicago so far this year with almost two weeks to go. So why isn’t this news worthy? Is it because it would embarrass those anti second amendment nuts who brag about Chicago’s tough gun laws? Is it because most of the kids who were shot and killed were minorities? Or is it because the corrupt media doesn’t want to show Chicago in a bad light? Amazingly, no Obama crocodile tears either.

For those of you too dense to get the point of this post, it’s to make the point about gun laws. No matter how tough the gun laws are, the crazed, nut jobs will find a way to get them and if they so chose, use them. No draconian law can stop this, no matter how well intentioned the law is, or if it’s just about leftists grabbing power from citizens and taking away their constitutional rights.

What did grandpa think of this young man?

Elementary school mass shooting = 1 in 100 years
Bank robberies  nation wide =  4699 in 1 year (2011)

Do the math ,I hope this helps.

I was merely agreeing that in some countries, money can be valued more than a childs life.

You stop with your logic. We all know that when a child is a victim, we automatically suspend reasoning and move straight to screaming emotion.

it's insane to think you'd put 800 kids under age 10 in one location without one police officer for $40k a year.

Most schools around the world get along just fine without permanent police presence.

If you ever rode the 4 train in NYC and seeing the monsters and savages on that line you would think differently

No I wouldn't - most schools around the world still don't need armed guards.

true, but the toothpaste is already out of the tube here.   there are 300 million guns in the USA.   There are millions of vets who would never give up their guns, millions of crimninals too.  They're never going away.  The only way is a slow and gradual reduciton thru laws like these.  But it's a gun culture.  Same way you could never just walk up to the afghans or iraqis and say "hand em over".   it's just built into the culture.
