Seriously just watched it, yeah and I know by saying it's the best I'm gonna ruin it for you but fuck it.
For a fantasy/kids movie, it was pretty dam good.

Was going to watch it but honestly looks real dumb :-\
-
i want to watch it but i need to wait for a day when i have the attention span for that kind of shit
-
Just wasted 2:36 of my life watching the trailer. Not going to compound that mistake by watching the whole movie.
-

Nah looks is the word, I was watching it just for the cgi, was pretty surprised. It's like forest gump meets castaway.
I donno how great it is because I despise family movies, any I've tried to watch in the last decade have been shit

If I wanted to watch Indians telling improbable stories, I'd set up a webex with my colleagues there. I'll pass.

Sitting down and watching a movie is a big commitment to me but I managed to sit through the whole thing even though I had my doubts. The cgi was sick and the story line kept me interested. But not the best movie of the decade...
-
It really was a great movie. If you can, see the 3D version in a theater that was amazing.
And then when you leave think about it and ask yourself which story did you believe?

Wheelchair broke down? ;)

I disliked the "special effects" on the ship and how they all got together in that lifeboat but other then that it was watchable...
-
Isn't it annoying listening to an Indian accent for two hours?

Yep, and not just in movies either... :-X
Full disclosure: I sound like Goldmember, so who am I to complain?
-
Is that the dumb movie about a tiger in a lifeboat? That tiger would eat that bitch in a second.
-
Is it on dvd/ Blu ray yet?
-
Movie doesn't look all that appealing to me. It's a children's movie.

What was serious queston? keep in mind I mean for a general audience.

There's a lot of uproar right now in the VFX industry because this film won the oscar for best VFX and the company who did the CGI tiger, water and environments just filed for Chapter 11.
I haven't watched it personally but heard it was pretty good so I might check it out at some point when I'm not working 80 hours a week.

They took care of that perfectly. There was even a line that alluded to that.

Just checked IMDB.
Looks like this movie is filled with indians.
How can you even bare to watch this drivel.
Good thing movies only come with stimuli for vision and hearing these days, if smell was implemented, the stench of curry would be unbearable.

Do the 3D glasses work on your slit eyes?

I enjoyed it, good show. Didn't see any of the other Best Picture noms this year.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!!!!
RAT! We had to leave the theater at that part of the movie where the tiger walked off into the jungle but I have heard that those sequence of events that occurred between the kid and the animals is explained and clarified at the end.
(Something like the 'animals' in the life-boat were not really there at all but were simply a figment of his imagination which kept him from going insane.)
Or something like that! ..... which would certainly mean that this was NOT a kid's movie.
I'd appreciate it if you could elaborate on those details.
I gotta admit that the tiger looked very real and especially when he lunged at the kid while the kid attempted to climb back into the boat.
I've participated in some 'green screen' productions but how those tiger scenes were done, is beyond my understanding.

Dude you don't even understand it well enough to give a proper spoiler. If your an actual movie dude why are fucking anyone reading this?
-
lol at you fags who watch this kiddie movie.
I'd rather watch Silver Linings Playbook or Argo.
-
great movie better than argo
-
I would not really say it's a kids movie. The previews kind of made it look like he's on a magical adventure with his friend Mr. Tiger but really the tiger is trying to eat/kill him for most of the movie.

If not a kids movie, did you find it to be a realistic movie?

It was done by extremely talented artists at Rhythm and Hues, which just filed for bankruptcy a few weeks ago.

It's in a way uber realistic, you need to understand that the movie is told from the perspective of a person and not a lenses.
Which is one of the reasons the movie works.
The beauty of the movie is much like shawshank redemption, or forest gump, it's a very very simple story done well.
-
mediocre, argo was very overrated too
where was looper, dredd?
::)
-
Argo was the worst, it was good because it was a true story, and happened to have alot of big name actors.
If it was about any other country, and didn't have the name's it would of just been an indie film.

Life of Pi sucked, but it does confirm one thing, that GOD isn't real, it is just a fictional story told by those who prefer it to the reality of life. The story showed believing in a god as fantasy – indeed, as extreme gullibility, or even the inability to distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking. Poor deluded God Botherers, unable to deal with reality on it's own terms.

Lol leave it to the flaming libtard to ramble on such a trivial issue. The film is open ended.
-
Pretty good. Visual stuff over narrative stuff.

Trivial issue - You fail to see the depths of life don't you. The whole movie was about the concept of GOD, and even if GOD isn't real it is better to believe in him anyway, because the reality of life is too much to take. The film isn't open ended, it starts with the premise that the storyteller will tell a story that will make the listener believe in God, it ends with the storyteller suggesting that Life is better with a belief in a higher power regardless of whether or not it exists.
-
I saw this movie last night with my gf. The movie was better than I thought it would be. It's more than simply a movie about a guy in a boat with a Tiger. I would say its the most authentic looking CGI I've ever seen in a movie. It sets the bar IMO.
-
2 hours of a paki on a boat with a tiger, no thanks.

Lost interest after reading the title of the movie

And immediately after stating this belief in god, it shows the guy asking the question to be exceptionally open minded on the issue of religion(dude named himself after a math symbol, had a atheist father etc etc). To the point that it's obvious that the writer isn't forcing the issue.
The movie could said to be about a lot of things, the need to survive, god, belief, existence, whatever.

I think Haider was on the boat for several months ... like 221 days or something.
-
I agree with e-kul on this one.
If the point is that we need delusions, well that is a good point that goes over a lot of peoples' heads. But there's a difference between people who are deluded for good reason, and people who keep believing in thoroughly debunked concepts (like Pi did). The latter aren't "profound" or "open minded"... they're just retarded.
