Title: Recognized nutritional and training certifications?
Post by: a_ahmed on March 14, 2013, 05:32:45 PM
I've been wondering. I am in Canada and if I wanted to get some legit certs what are the most recommended/valuable to go for and what is the process/cost?

Yeah in the end I agree to that with any form of formal certification or education. Experience>all... but still 'accreditation'  ::)

Get a real job.

And worship a real Savior instead of following the "teachings" of an illiterate pedophile.

The address contains a "suite" number   ::)

Ashworth College
6625 The Corners Parkway, Suite 500
Norcross, Georgia 30092

Nothing like a college in a strip mall

Looks like the kind of "school" Sally Struthers would endorse   "You can major in business management, or accounting"

Ashworth College is a low cost solution for people who cannot afford to go to a public university or don't want to spend 6 figures so that anyone can utilize to fulfil their careers in life.  I still owe 19k on my first degree and I didn't need anymore debt which is why I chose Ashworth

lol only getbig can deliver such useless responses :)

I have a career and not just a job. However bodybuilding is my side hobby :) For heck of it I wondered what kind of certs are recognized or accredited out there on nutrition and training but meh. I personally believe in experience above all else, but I guess no one can give me an answer to the original question oh well.

If you can make side cash as a personal trainer, go for it. Cant hurt. Plus, most gym you train at will let you work out for free.

Back in the day, I remember Coach telling me ACE was a good certification program.

Just court fatasses at the gym and in the work place. CERTs aren't worth the money they're printed on, and to pay for the drivel they teach is just ridiculous.

You need a certification so you can get proper Personal Trainer Insurance in the event one of your clients get injured.  In addition, most bank loans for gyms and training studio will require a person to be capable of performing the job...meaning that you'll need a certification.

The big thing of course is to LEARN how to do your job properly.

Not ACE (they're good as well) but NASM or NSCA. Specialty certs are becoming more recognized as well if you're coaching in High Schools or college. General pop could careless about what you know or don't know, thats why we work primarily with athletes.

ACE is ok....little on the easy side.  There's a bunch of them out there but I feel that the key to personal training is that the person is educated, insured, and motivated to provide quality service to their customers

The only reason why I keep my NASM-PES and NSCA paid is for the sole purpose the coaches I work with want it. Other than that they are pretty much useless in the general population. However, our specialty certs carry a lot of weight in our private business. FMS, NKT, USAW have more use than a PT cert even a CSCS.
