i saw one that said big by choice
i remember thinking to myself at the time
that he was obviously making a statement re the contradictory nature of man and the inner turmoil we all feel while pursuing the bb life style
pretty deep shit

this is too much grammar for me bro, cant understand shit
do you mean that we wish we could just look like bodybuilders without having to juice, workout, eat right, and watch our lifestyle?
no kidding

A very thought provoking shirt for sure.

Not really. But when I'm cut I'm gonna wear one of those ironically, since I'll look like I barely worked out.

the man was clearly pointing out that while we all pursue the ideal, the battle that rages in our soul and the twisted self perception that can anchor our optimism in a sea of self doubt can mean that we can never be big only bigger

it's so fluctuating tho
i can see a big pumped up bber in the gym and be in awe
then i can overhear an average looking guy talking about his job, and clearly he's making big money
and i know that bber is a poor chump pretty much
then suddenly i look at both of them all differently
i see a juiced up moron who will never amount to anything and a rich successful ectomorph living the good life
then i get real sad and confused
and my workout is spoiled
-
I've always been slightly disturbed by individuals who post pics of dumb shit like "i pay my dues in the gym! do you?" like it's a badge of honor.
Trying to relate the gym to being in a warzone. ::)

The bodybuilding war metaphor is truly one of the lousiest that ever came about. The origin can only be an attempt at attributing seriousness and masculinity to an arena which lacks both.

I usually run across 3 categories of people who lift:
1 - the "try hard". usually this person is new. wears the latest of fitness gear/apparel, all the new supplements. follows magazine training. in awe of the lifestyle of it.
2 - people who throw numbers at you. i bench ___ and squat ___ therefore i'm better (even though physique sucks). guy once told me he's stronger than ronnie coleman cuz he can leg press 1000lbs at 19 years old. "ronnie was old when he did 2300". these types usually just on perma-bulk
3 - people who just don't care what others do. they have their own way/beliefs and just tune everyone else in the gym out. i like to think i'm in this category. its just a hobby. i wouldn't sacrifice real life experiences just to get the gym in.

far too common
they always get in the squat rack in between my sets, because there is a big mirror there and they admire themselves in the squat rack between my sets

thank you Nails
this is my point on the try hard. dude will buy everything Animal. then walk around like he's sponsored. people can freely spend their money but these are usually the guys who buy into "supplements over food bro" "gotta hit that anabolic window".
-
I avoid wearing any of these stupid shirts as much as possible, and if I do its because I just need a gym shirt and got it for free. I've seen people wear them out to the bar and I just shake my head. Really, you think you are gonna get laid going up to a girl with one of those stupid slogan shirts.

no it's because they are usually still living with parents so they can blow half their pay cheque on supplements and still feel like they're easily getting by
-
i have always felt weird wearing shits with slogans on the front of them at the gym, i got into the habit of always wearing my gym shirts inside out

lol @ wearing it to the bar
I got a shirt from a protein store once and used it to play tug of war with my dog

never saw somebody that delusional to wear a "bb" shirt to a bar

I haven't been to a bar in years except in the day time to eat. And yeah, I've never seen someone that delusional.. yet. I saw a drunk guy eating wings with what looked to be a brand new white hat. Well his head just musta been itching cuz those saucy fingers reached up to adjust the hat. hahaha
