Due to a slight shoulder injury I have moved to closer grip decline benches and don't really feel it on my shoulders.

today i did 8 reps with 120kg decline bench press
it was the most amazing feeling
because at my natural peak i could only bench press 120kg for 3 reps (flat bench)

Im hardly in any case an advocate for getting spotted. Many times had to roll a ''decent'' weight over my gut after failing because i hate getting spotted. However doing 4 plates in decline seems kinda gnarly :-X
Imagine that weight on your throat.

my heaviest was 155 kg for one rep at 83 kg bw.. i am 72-73 now and can do 140 for 2 reps..

Ya no doubt, i got stuck once with 3 plates and a 25 on each side on the flat bench, it was like 3 in the morning and I was all alone, was up rep 6-7 then missed my lock-out and the weight came down hard and I was like fuck... tried to roll it down my belly but I couldn't and I was running out of air then i started teeter tottoring it side to side, it took a few tries then the weight flew off one end and flung me completely off the bench and made enormous noise. This would have been youtube classic bench fail.
I laughed afterwards all the way home but fuck that was scary shit bro. lol ;D

Dude you pre ped lift was pretty weak. Sounds like you hadn't even built a basic foundation.

I have managed to build my physique with moderate weights and reps, no need to be lifting huge weights for me.
I guess its just that some people have it easy due to good genetics while others have to almost kill themselves to gain anything.
Im just lucky I guess.
