The 9 grain wheat bread might look and smell freshly baked but it contains close to 50 ingredients including refined flours, dough conditioners, hidden MSG, refined sugars, etc. Could bread this processed ever be real food? Certainly not, when it includes a chemical ingredient called azodicarbonamide, which is banned as a food additive in the U.K., Europe, and Australia, and if you get caught using it in Singapore you can get up to 15 years in prison and be fined $450,000. Azodicarbonamide is more commonly used in the production of foamed plastics, however, it is allowed in the United States as a food additive, a flour bleaching agent, and a dough conditioner that improves elasticity of bread. The U.K. has recognized this ingredient as a potential cause of asthma if inhaled, and advises against its use in people who have sensitivity to food dye allergies and other common allergies in food, because azodicarbonamide can exacerbate the symptoms. Let’s not forget it only takes 4 or 5 simple ingredients to make REAL whole-wheat bread including flour, yeast, salt, water, and maybe honey.

This was the shocker!  :P

I once in my life eat at Subways and to be honest the "bread" is about the most disgusting thing IO ever had, I am coming from a country has a very rich tradition in regards to bread, Subways "bread" doesn't even taste like toast, it has this weird fluffy light feel and taste to it.

Never again.

The only thing real are the calories, it's like the Macdonald burger that looks the same after a year in the fridge, it's dead food.

No wonder people need TRT and a bunch of pills for their bodies to work properly these days. It's a self-induced hell by choosing to eat it.

I sometimes wonder if I even should tell people this, or if I really don't care to help some people because they chose to be ignorant and arrogant about it.

^ true, stupid thread indeed.

theres people starving without ANY food, and here we have people debating whats "real food". Subway, McDonalds, even things like cheetos and fruit loops are ALL FOOD. there is no fake and "real" food. i HATE when people complicate things, especially so called "organic experts".

food= Calories and nutrients.

I dont eat Subway often but if i am in a rush and cant cook or theres no other fastfood/restaurants around i dont hesitate to get some. Protien+ Carbs = good to go.

Subway is the McDonald's of Subs. Which is quite fitting, as there are more Subways in America than McDonalds.
There are several sub franchises that are better than Subway, like Blimpies, and I would say even WaWa's subs are better---and you can get them all through the day.

Subway is ok but not really great if dieting. You bros are right, Chipotle is good. Usually get chicken or Barbacoa burrito.  Guac is a little pricey at 1.90 but still keeps a burrito under $8 with guac.

When i'm dieting (like now)

It's an option if I need something relatively tasty, and quick when i'm out.

I get the meatballs, on a salad bowl (usually I pick tomatoes, cucumber, olives, JALEPENOS (lots), carrot and grated cheddar) top it of with some chipotle southwest sauce.

Very low carbs, tasty as hell and I get to look at bread.

No reason to be alarmed as it just increases the Flour strength which improves the dough’s ability to retain gas and makes the bread more elastic.  Its nothing sinister really.

Now if you make bread at home, you will only have a few ingredients-Flour, Yeast, Water, Salt and thats about it.

One of the owners, I guess it's the husband's wife, she can't cut a sub right...how hard is that? And I cringe when she makes the sub, because she doesn't know how to make it. Corporate had to come down and see why there was constant shortages in money. The owner wasnt ringing people up correctly. Under or over charging people. And when you asked for a certain breakfast sub, they didnt know how to make it, and had to look on the wall at the chest sheet.

Organicly grown foods still use heavy pesticides and insecticides, just not synthetically made.  Its not any safer and the quality of organicly grown will be equal to or more times less than conventional.

when people mean "processed" they usually mean that ish like mystery meat Chicken Nuggets, lunch meats, all that stuff that goes thru cycles, and processes.

Not, the tomato that you take off the vine. Or the peach off the tree. Or the chicken that you just chopped off it's neck (grandma used to be really good at that)

Whole wheat bread = absolute garbage

Burgers have veggies too. Even Wendy's has fresh veggies.

Saturated fats are phenomenal for a bodybuilder.
