Good stuff. I sometimes think about the home gym I could have built with all the years of gym fees I've paid.

It helps that I basically can't stand to be around people when I am training. I like to blast *MY* music too.

Hot chicks in shorts are still a huge reason to go to a commercial gym. Awesome equipment nevertheless

Absolutely. I really started pouring on the gas when I realized that the only time that I can consistently train is in the early morning, and having a home gym was the only realistic way for that to happen.

Several grand, at least. Counting the pool, the cost goes parabolic. Lets just say that I am a concierge customer at Rogue.

The Rogue is about $300. The T-Nation one is freaking $600. I thought about getting the slightly cheaper one from New York Barbell, but the Rogue has rackable arms, which sealed the deal.

Should probably give more of a shoutout to my adjustable dumbbells from Iron Master (http://www.ironmaster.com/Quick-Lock-Dumbbell-System-75-lb-set-with-Rack.html)...

They are solid as a rock and with the additional weight pack go up to 120's each. The center lock:

Is made of solid steel as is the handle. They are the only adjustables that you can drop and nothing will happen.

I do interval sprints with it and the Airdyne for about 30 minutes before I hit the iron. Sunday is all intervals and I almost always find a way to work in row sprints. The Concept2 is totally worth the extra $$$.

I have been working in (2 minute -  500 meters ) sets between my other sets and the results have been great.

Make sure to rotate your shoulders back and down on each stroke. I have a friend that has scapular problems from closing up on each pull. Once you get the motion down and your shoulders are set, you'll notice the efficiency going up and the split times going down.

You men have been misled into believing this materialism will hone your physique. In Karate we turn the human body into a weapon with very little equipment. All that money spent and I,a simple Black Belt, have the capability of destroying anyone on Getbig with my hands and feet.

i've got a concept 2 as well, are these top of the line or something?  i thought they were commonplace, as my gym also has two (well, one remaining after i broke the other ;D).  dunno much about it since my brother just dropped it off with me one day.

I don't know if they are top of the line, but they are the gym standard. The Concept2 D runs about $900 new

There is a wooden thing on the left. It is nothing but a block of 2 2x4s nailed to a small sheet of plywood. I use it for one-legged, DB-weighted calf raises. Just above it, you can make out my chicken-leg in the mirror, so it is pretty clear that calves aren't my genetic strength.

There's a Crossfit about 3 miles away, a Gold's about 7 miles away and a "health club" (where we have a membership for the winter pool and the social aspects) about 5 miles away.

All of them bow before my home awesomeness.

The hoop is a Sports Authority special. The 48 port monstrosity is a Cisco 27xx series that I picked up at salvage at ebay. With the dual 750's the lights dimmed when I turned it on, so I got the "green" Netgear 16 port GigE which is good enough. Every stationary node in the house is on the wire. The wifi is reserved for mobile devices (of which there appears to be more than 20).

It does lower to 7' right?

My son is 10, so it is set at 8 feet. When he can jam, I will move it up to 9 feet.

Coach still can't jam, even though his is only set at 6 feet.

He is hilariously short.

Half the basement is finished (the 70's wood paneling). That's where the rower and the Airdyne is. Along with the wet bar and the pool table. The unfinished half is where the iron is, along with the server rack, the washing machine/dryer and the armory.

By armory, you mean two non-functioning air rifles and a broken crossbow you got for $11.50 at a yard sale.

Hot chicks in shorts are still a huge reason to go to a commercial gym. Awesome equipment nevertheless

But hot chicks are a minority. Usually you'll find out of shape fatties with a sickening lack of discipline. All they do is move a lot of air and use a lot of space.

2948G. But again, I am not using it as it uses a shitload of power and sounds like an airplane taking off. The NetGear 16 port gigE above it is my current switch.

LOL.....tell me about it.....these  2900's switches are loud as shit.....I'm not used to Netgear switch too much, But the model you have  here is pretty good.......I have a 32U rack at home with four 3750 switches, all running together. it's quite as a corpse...I'm thinking of getting a Netgear with Gigabit ports to host a couple VMware machines

That is a nice set up, the greatest thing I ever did for my lifting career was open my own gym. I trained at many YMCA's and local Commercial gyms only to be told that we can't do this or we can't do that. About 4 years ago I partnered up with a guy to open a weightlifters only type gym that I managed til Jan of this year. In Jan I ventured out on my own and opened the "Exile Barbell" association here in my home town. Again the greatest thing I ever did. I'm at about 40 members and we keep it rough and rugged, no bitchy soccer moms, no old folks gasping and pointing, and no one telling me what I can and can not do. Cause it's all mine and if you don't like it get the fuck out. All my shit has been bought and paid for with cash money so no loans no credit cards and very very little overhead!!!
