Why I will never train at a commercial gym again...
« on: May 18, 2013, 10:58:03 AM »
Because I love my home gym.

DB's that go to 120's. Kettlebells, foam and PVC rollers...

Chains, extra plates, rings...

This rack, with safety arms (saved my ass yesterday)...

Specialty bars (safety squat, buffalo bar)...

Trap bar!

Plyo boxes...

This bench

100 lb. bag

Pullups and ring mounts. Dips in the background...

The view from my C2 rower and Airdyne

Chalk!

50 Mbit in, WiFi, 10Tb of NFS storage and a DLNA server that transcodes all content to all devices (TV's, iOS, XBox, Computers). Public Minecraft server.

Sled...

...and 500 feet of driveway with a nice incline to drag it...

and a cement hole in the ground that is my lap pool awaiting its new liner...

Epic 1970s wood paneling on your walls, reminiscent of the brady bunch household.

Good stuff. I sometimes think about the home gym I could have built with all the years of gym fees I've paid.

Yes, came with the house. Didn't feel like replacing. But, yes. It is dated.

It helps that I basically can't stand to be around people when I am training. I like to blast *MY* music too.

More and more people are building home gyms and opting out of commercial "box" gyms.

Hot chicks in shorts are still a huge reason to go to a commercial gym. Awesome equipment nevertheless

Absolutely. I really started pouring on the gas when I realized that the only time that I can consistently train is in the early morning, and having a home gym was the only realistic way for that to happen.

My son is 10, so it is set at 8 feet. When he can jam, I will move it up to 9 feet.

Wish I had a net. I gotta brave it with the bums and drug dealers in the park if I wanna shoot around

Surprised the cops haven't closed it down for being so hardcore with those chains.

Cool setup though. How much do you think you've put into it?

Several grand, at least. Counting the pool, the cost goes parabolic. Lets just say that I am a concierge customer at Rogue.
