Rumors have been swirling that Cheick Kongo's departure from the UFC was leading him toward a Bellator contract, and now it appears that those rumors have been confirmed. MMA Weekly reports that sources close to the heavyweight fighter can confirm that he has signed a contract with the Viacom promotion.
It's a little surprising considering how vehement Kongo was in denying his separation from the UFC. Following his exit he initially took to Facebook, looking to dispel reports that he had been cut and/or released from his UFC contract.

Well, its out now i guess. This what I already knew but wasn't at liberty to say. Yes, its true. I knew a few months before his last fight with Nelson. Rampage as well.

You still work with Rampage?

So the loss to Nelson was anticipated? Glad to hear he's being realistic about his skills.

No, haven't for awhile. But I still see him once or twice a week when he's home. He'll be at our grand opening with some other athletes when we have it.

Were talking about China chinned Kongo, right? Boo hoo. I'm sure Dana White isn't losing any sleep over either bum. One has been, and one never was.

Exactly. The fact that they always grab leftovers works for UFC's advantage from image stand point of view.

Contracts, at least for those two, are MUCH bigger than the UFC. Win or lose, they're both a big draw. Contract was offered, Kongo said no. Simple as that.

Coach, do you know Pastor Cary Mejia?

I believe Bellator offered more to Kongo than UFC. Which is not hard - UFC probably offered next to nothing after such poor performances.
-
If he can eat his chin back up to par he can dominate there

Again, he's still a big draw.

I agree. Just not UFC caliber.

If you like i can give you a neck program to help kongo chin, not sure if your neck program is working.

I am not knocking cheick.. But these guys that do this are just trying to be competitive in a lesser organization.. If you can't be competitive in the ufc then just drop out and retire.. Why choose to compete at a lesser org..? Ego ?
