I'm currently dieting on 1900 kcals a day, 90g carbs. About 10 weeks in, and so far haven't noticed any obvious loss of muscle.
Diet is simple, I cut out ALL refined sugar, and count how many grams carbs im eating per day - the other 1540 kcals by default come from protein and fat........how many grams protein? I don't give a shit!
As long as I'm eating 1900 daily, doesn't matter.
When i'm down to 8%, i'll keep the carbs at 90g, but try to get the other 1500kcal from mostly lean protein sources - that should get me down to 5-6%.

I thought that this thread had a chance of GB-epic hilarity before it got derailed (admittedly, Ironmeister was slow on the draw for max epic-ness).
In all honesty, I love BOTH Cswol and Gal (no homo, well, maybe a little homo with Gal) for different reasons.

Good point. There is a classic meta-theme to so much of GB and BB in general: the permabulker versus the permaleaner. What I think is great is that it transcends so much -- training, diet, gear -- and makes for interesting conversation. Probably because I came from one camp slowly and am in the other that I am so interested.
Anyway, carry-on with whatever flogging is necessary. I shall remain hopeful for other threads.

This is an awesome physique at any age.
I have known Wes for a very long time and he is close to the number one spot for people I respect for everything. He is probably the most knowledgeable person someone can go to for any kind of training or diet advice if they are looking to get ripped, strong or add muscle. He has done it all and has his own methods of doing so that will work. Anyone who has anything negative to say about Wes is fooling themselves and I don`t understand the root of any animosity towards him or where it would come from.
I only wish he would stay around this place more!

I retired in 2009, my kids are grown and my other responsibilities are few, so really there are no excuses left for not hitting the gym 6 days a week. I did just resume training after a year and a half of irregular gym visits, mainly because I was bummed about being diagnosed with prostate cancer and having surgery to remove my prostate and fortunately all the cancer. Now I am back on TRT and feeling more like my old self.

There are two "old timers" even compared to me at the gym where I work out. Both men are 79 years old and both me look great. Earl unfortunately had a stroke so his wife has to drive him to the gym each day he works out, but heck, he's still there everyday hitting the weights. Gene is nothing short of spectacular looking for a man of any age much less someone who is 79. Unlike Earl, he enjoys excellent health. These are guys I look up to. If I am where Gene is in ten years, I'll be a happy camper.
Like you say, one just gets better and better with each coming year so long as they actually train like you appear to do and don't just talk about it.

My short term goal is to improve enough by the end of twelve weeks to post another photo (probably not in orange skivvies, since a few jerks jumped on that right away). My arms are already up almost an inch. My clothes fit better and my stomach looks tighter, but still no abs showing. I am 208 most days at 5'11" and holding. The folks on the Mature thread are both inspirational and very supportive of one another. It doesn't seem like the usual Getbig forum at all.

I don't get this puritanical idea of eating food that tastes like dry shit, that makes it suck even more when dieting
I get 1600 cals a day and my meals are great, today I made an amazing microwave chocolate sponge that has 450 cals, 60g of protien and tasted like a real cake with vanilla sauce.. I spend literally hours tweaking recipes until they taste good for the lowest carb and cal counts. Food can taste good and be ultra low cal/carb and its rewarding to discover how to drop 50 cals here and there without losing flavor
To be honest, I`d rather bake a chocolate cake instead. :D

Any sort of censorship can seriously inhibit the dynamic of good communications. It is easy to want someone to censor/moderate posts which are intentionally hurtful to others. I admit that there have been times when I was under fire from unfair and untruthful attacks. I thought about reporting the attacker. I quickly thought better of this because all I had to do was not log on to Getbig and in an hour or so, all would be forgotten. As a result, I have never cried to the moderators for help. I figure I pretty much brought anything that is said to or about me upon myself at some point regardless of the fact that it may be untruthful or irrelevant to the subject at hand.
Personally, I had a lot of fun in high school. Sometimes it is fun to relive those childhood experiences via some Internet chat.

But there is something very strange, creepy and bizarre about his whole persona. I really believe that he is a very deeply disturbed person. He also seems utterly clueless as to how he comes off. He really believes there is something deep, profound and witty in his posting style. But I like that he still keeps plugging away blindly passing judgments and analysis on others. It's interesting watching someone so detached from reality perform. It's like when you see a homeless person that has lost their mind carrying on a conversation with an imagenary person.
