Title: Contest Prep Gurus -are they necessary?
Post by: Caro on July 31, 2013, 02:27:55 AM
The 'contest prep guru' is now a part of every modern day Pros arsenal..
Are they necessary?

Milos, is probably the best known prep guru of the modern era.

Do these gurus have a shelf life?

I dont think prep gurus are a requirement, everything you need to know is available online in some form or another.
Milos never refered to himself as a guru and its disingenuous of you to keep refering to him as such without any evidence.

Shelf life?
What do you mean by that?

No not at all Im offering you the opportunity to give your opinions on the subjects you raised in the thread.
You can either do that or call me a troll, the choice is yours.
Refusal to enter into a debate that you started without offering your opinions will show clearly your reasons for being here.

I don't think so, I think once these guys reach the mid and upper levels of competition, they probably have things well in hand. I do think the Guru serves as a reassuring and critical voice for the bodybuilder at a certain point. Someone to say "hey stupid don't do that, do this", "you need to do bring up xxxx....".

Also many of them serve as drug middlemen, etc....

Look, even if I were getting ready for a show I would have someone train me as far as diet goes especially in the last week or two leading up to the show. I see all of these pseudo nutrition guru's on here giving advice with zero contest prep experience. The last week and days and the day of a show is where the real knowledge comes in. Even though I know what to do, i would rather hire a reputable trainer/contest prep person to tell me, I don't want to have to think, I would rather just eat what he told to and train.

Stop calling Milos a prep guru unless you have some evidence that he refered to himself as a guru.
You are simply here to throw mud at someone who isnt here to defend himself.

Contest prep guru Milos pioneered the use of lighter weights at high reps.  His stable of athletes at the Koleseum initially questioned the self appointed guru in relation to the effectiveness of such a regime.  However, the proof was in the pudding.

Yes, prep guru Milos was certainly cutting edge.

This is true, suppose it goes back to the topic of if insulin helped or ruined bodybuilding.

GH was being used since the 80s from what gathered...

Bro,

Contest Prep Guru Milos popularized the use of insulin.  Sure, like gh, insulin had been used as a staple for the best part of two decades.  It was when the prep guru Milos started his brazen and bold advocacy campaign around his 'insulin protocols' did it then became part of the Pro culture mainstream

Look, to a degree Milos was a megalomaniac.  One only has to look at how he set up his office at the Koloseum -gives a great insight into 'the mind.'

That aside, Milos stands alone as being one of the most creative and innovative 'contest prep gurus' of the modern era.

If you are in denial.... or just plain unable to truly see yourself as you *really* are, you might need a coach. Not sure I would classify anyone as a "guru" unless he specifies just exactly what his specialty is....

Look at yourself in the broad and unforgiving daylight. If you see yourself ripped and shredded but you are really at 12% bodyfat, you are in denial and need a trained and un-biased eye.

Information about juice is based mostly based on empirical data. Have the gurus ALL used what they prescribe or are they using YOU as a Guinea Pig?

I dunno. Subjective, to say the least.

Dyslexic,

Furthermore, i think if prep guru Milos was to be completely honest with himself he would admit that the need for a contest prep guru is totally unnecessary.

However, Milos is a shrewd and cunning business man.  Where he sees a niche in the market he will exploit it!

And let's face it, Pro Bodybuilders are easy prey due to their overt insecurity, meat-headedness and unwavering belief in Bro-science!
