;D
And thanks to GetBig member "crowdshep" for posting the link to Episode 10, for those who may have missed it...

I hope it's not a snooze-fest like last weeks episode was.
-
My wife said I wouldn't be able to stay awake until 10pm to watch breaking bad.
I replied,
""Im not going anywhere but full swing into this show... just ate my fish and potato and off to smash some heavy duty chest today...Im starving, the diet is super tough right now as Im trying to lean out hard the next 3 hours before I add calories back in... kill time!!! Thanks guys for all the motivation...""

The title is "Confessions". My guess is Pinkman will spill to Schrader.

maybe hank has to kill jesse now? so he won't be the thing hank needs - PROOF?

You mean Walter would kill him? Yes, maybe. I can't understand why he didn't do it in season 4. Jesse has generally been an annoying pain in the arse.
-
"My name is Walter White. This is my confession..."
This video confession is one of the best parts of the series. Amazing. Brings it all together.

Walt stole the cig with the ricin in it to poison the boy or to actually manipulate him!
he suspected before, now he has a confession from saul
Jesse was initially worried about the missing ricin cigarette being out in the open for someone to find and get sick from (like "a child," Jesse suggests), so Walt plants it in Jesse's house for him to find later, relieving his concerns

so jesse just figured out that walt was responsible for the kids sickness? fuck, i gotta rewatch some episodes. i just cant seem to piece together the last three minutes.

I'm a little confused about this too. Wasn't it something other than ricin that Walt poisoned Brock with? If so, why would Jesse think that Walt having Saul's guys lift the ricin off of him would amount to Walt poisoning Brock?
-
it was this flower from the garden, near his pool, in a potted plant. he made his own ricin using it, I think? Season 3 ended with him looking at that flower, so we knew it'd play a big role in the show later. I bet "I let jane die" comes out too, when they throw down next week. And I bet he kills jesse.
admit it, we all thought he was going to belly shoot jesse during that desert hug tonight lol.

thats where im confused too. walt poisined the kid with some flower. how jesse connected this now is really throwing me off.

Yes he poisoned him with the folower, but he stole the ricin to manipulate jessie into coming to his house confronting him, then walt would "talk sense into him" and plant the ricin back in jessie's house - it was a really well thought out plan!

Remind me though...what was the reason that Walt had Saul's bodyguard steal the ricin cigarrete in the first place if it was never used?

Ok, I am starting to remember this now. Wasn't he trying to somehow frame Gus as well?

Jessie has always suspected it, but now he is convinced of it and when he went to Saul just now, Saul confessed, so now he knows!

Yes he said it was Gus that did it, but it was really Walt all along.

Saul admitted it after the fact, but what exactly was the "ah moment" that caused Jesse to freak out at the drop off point?

he found the pack of smokes. I think ricin was gone from it. it was in the hoodie he packed for trip that he hadn't looked in. He knew it was planted, he knew that meant walt posioned the kid, i think?

Shit! So much going on in this episode. Wow.

Shit is about to get real on all fronts.

Jessie didn't realize that walt used ricin to poison him.... he just realized that he was being played.....
There wasn't really an Aha moment, Jessie always suspected it... I think him telling walt in the desert to "stop jerking me around" was a nod to the fact.... then as he waited for the guy to get him and change his identity it wasn't so much an "Aha" moment as it was... "fuck this issue has been bothering me for a long time I'm gonna get to the bottom of it and find out once and for all what happened" and thats when he went all roid rage in Saul's office to find out the truth!

http://breakingbad.wikia.com/wiki/Ricin
The first time Walt created ricin it was intended to kill Tuco Salamanca. Walt carried a packet of meth mixed with the poison hoping that Tuco would snort it. The ricin made the meth stink like head cheese, which raised Tuco's suspicion about its quality. Jesse Pinkman said it was a new recipe with his old secret ingredient: chili powder. Unfortunately they learned that Tuco hated chili powder and tossed the packet aside.
Next they tried to get him to eat it. Walt sprinkled the packet into Tuco's food, however Hector "Tio" Salamanca saw what he did and rang his bell to prevent Tuco from eating. Misinterpreting Hector's warning, Tuco simply traded plates with him. Hector knocked the plate onto the floor instead of eating the poisoned food, thus dispensing with the ricin.
For Gus
Season 4
Ricin hidden in the cigarette that's turned around
The second time Walt created ricin it was intended to kill Gustavo Fring. He created a small vial of it in Gus's own superlab, supposedly out of sight, and secretly passed it to Jesse, who concealed it in one of his cigarettes. At the time, however, Jesse was distancing himself from Walt and growing closer to Gus, and thus he never administered it even when he had the opportunity.
Later, Andrea Cantillo's son Brock Cantillo fell severely ill from some unknown cause and Jesse found that his ricin-vial cigarette was missing. He told Andrea to warn Brock's doctors about the possible poisoning. Because only he and Walt knew about the ricin, Jesse suspected that Walt poisoned Brock; however, Walt convinces him that it was Gus who poisoned Brock. ("End Times") Although initially in danger of dying, doctors say that he would survive, and tests showed that it was not ricin; instead, he ingested the berries of a local poisonous plant called the "Lily of the Valley". At the very end of the episode, the camera zooms in on a Lily of the Valley in Walt's back yard, beside his pool. ("Face Off")
Season 5
Saul Goodman returned the ricin cigarette to Walt, stating his wonder that Huell didn't break it when he lifted it from Jesse. ("Live Free or Die") Walt hid the ricin capsule behind an electrical outlet in his bedroom and made a false capsule with salt. He hid the fake capsule in a cigarette and planted it in Jesse's Roomba to put Jesse's mind at ease. ("Madrigal") Walt later took the ricin to a meeting with Lydia Rodarte-Quayle with intentions to kill her, though didn't because she proved to be useful, by offering expansion of Walt's empire into the Czech Republic. ("Gliding Over All")
In 2010, Walt heads back to his house, now abandoned, and retreives the ricin from behind the electrical outlet. ("Blood Money") While Jesse was waiting to start a new life in Alaska he put the pieces together that Walt had Saul have Huell lift the ricin cigarette. Jesse confronted Saul, took his gun and Saul confessed. Jesse then stole Saul's car to go after Walt. ("Confessions")

I want to believe he is ready to play but I have this nightmarish feeling that he is gonna get out there during the first game, get hit once and his leg will just snap right off!
UGh hope that doesn't happen!
But hey - my buddy who was on the Varsity squad with me in High school, Tanard Jackson, should be starting on defense that first game! ;D

I don't know, that scene at the drop off point where he was freaking out over the cigarette pack seemed like an "aha" moment to me. Why would Jesse suspect that Saul would be in on it? It's one thing to suspect Walt is jerking him around, but what made him feel like going to Saul would get to the truth of the matter?

he was probably right near saul's office... and he was walking
he needed a car and demandeed keys

Because the first time he suspected it, he speculated the same exact thing..... that the big fat guy (Hugh?) stole the ricin cigarette when he frisked him (which is exactly what happened).
He knew the act was done at saul's office at the order of Walt. He brought it up back then, and he brought it up now.
Plus he probably knew Walt would jerk him around some more, and give him some bullshit, whereas saul when scared would probably cave!

I just re-watched the episode in order to make sense of things. I believe I got it now. I believe what happened at the drop off location was that Jesse was getting anxious (biting his nails) and decided to fire up a joint. He stuck his hands in his pocket looking for his bag of dope and realized it was gone. Jesse realizes that his dope was stolen earlier at Saul's office, where he had last seen it and put it in his pocket. In fact, If you go back earlier to the office scene you'll see Huell take the dope from Jesse's pocket as Jesse is squeezing past Huell to leave the office. Anyway, Jesse comes to the realization that if Huell is sneaky enough to steal a bag of dope from right under his eyes, he is likely capable of stealing a ricin cigarette as well. That was the "aha" moment that led Jesse to run back and confront Saul to find out if his suspicions were true. Hearing Saul's confession, Jesse realizes Walt has been in on it as he initially suspected, and then heads off to Walts home.
-
I have all the series on a memory stick, Im not going to watch them though.
Its because everyone else is going on about it all the time.
Same with the Sopranos.
Didnt watch.

Thats exactly it. What a crazy episode. Ties in to the beginning of this seasons first episode where Walt walks around his abandoned home and finds the ricin behind the electrical plug cover. The foreshadowing going on there looked very ominous.

Great pick up..... I just watched that part in the office again, and saw Huell jack the weed from Jessie's pocket..... Totally missed that!!!!!!! Cause Huell does it sooooooooooooooooo fast.
I guess there was an aha moment after all.... Jessie realized his weed is stolen, just like the cigarette was stolen.
Smooth Huell!

Brilliant episode, especially the "confession".Walters alwways one step ahead.

this is correct. jesse remembered that it went missing before, and walt had told him that gus had to have taken it somehow. but he realized that it was huell, meaning saul, meaning walt. hence the freakout.
-

when the kid was poisoned, he was led to believe that the ricin cigarette was what did it and walt convinced him that gus had stolen it off of him somehow. when he realized that huell had lifted the dope out of his pocket, he realized that huell was the one who stole the ricin cigarette before and that meant walt was the one who had poisoned brock.
-
TBH when I saw Jesse light up in Saul's office, I thought he had decided to commit suicide by smoking a (the) ricin cigarette. Very intense moment.
After the desert scene where Jesse clearly lets Walt know what a lying fucking manipulator he thinks he is, I think he would have no reason to trust Walt and Saul when they told him "a guy" would set him up with a new life. For all Jesse knew the guy could have been a hitman.

What I don't understand is, what is this fixation Jesse has on the ricin? Since doctors told him that Brock's poisoning was due to Lilly of the Valley?
Why does he assume that Walt had Brock poisoned if ricin had nothing to do with it and Jesse never saw the plant in Walt's back yard?
I think I must have missed the scene where Jesse started believing that ricin caused the poisoning.

Jesse doesn`t have the ricin cigarette,Walt has it taped in the wall socket, walt had a "fake" cigarette with salt in it that Jesses hoover picked up.If you remember in series 4 Walt tricked Jesse into thinking Gus poisined the kid, then Jesse was told by the doctors it was a plant called lily of the valley. He now realizes Walt was the one who poisoned the kid,and Saul admitted it.

Yes I get that, but why does Jesse say to Saul that Walt used ricin to poison Brock when the doctors said that the poison was not ricin but Lily of the Valley?
-
Jesse assumes it was ricin,he doesn`t know Walt has a lily of the valley plant. In fact,i think you might have just hit on something for the next episode.Think about it,we saw Jesse getting ready to torch Walts house, but in the flash forward in episode 9 (first one of this series) the house is in tact, just empty,so i`m wondering if Jesse doesn`t torch the place.Maybe he goes outside and see`s the lilly of the valley plant and then ..................well,who knows.

Yes I get that, but why does Jesse say to Saul that Walt used ricin to poison Brock when the doctors said that the poison was not ricin but Lily of the Valley?
i don't think he said, exactly, that the ricin was used to poison brock, but rather that walt had him steal the ricin cigarette AND walt poisoned brock.
remember the timeline. brock gets poisoned, jesse realizes the ricin is missing, walt convinces jesse that gus stole the ricin to poison brock (which got jesse on board to kill gus), then it turned out it was lily of the valley. fast forward and jesse realizes that huell was able to lift the dope out of his pocket, which meant huell was the one who stole the ricin cigarette from him during the pat-down before, meaning walt had him do it, so walt poisoned brock then had the ricin stolen from jesse to trick him into blaming it all on gus.
when he reached into his pocket and pulled out the cig box (same brand as the ricin one), realizing his dope was missing, he put it all together and had his freakout.

jesse wouldn't recognize lily in the valley on sight, and it really doesn't even matter at this point. he knows walt poisoned brock, whether it was by ricin or lily is irrelevant. my guess is skyler or walt jr will show up.

The leap between "Walt had him do it" to "so Walt poisoned brock" is irrational because Jesse knows that ricin was not used to poison Brock.
It turns out he is correct, but he couldn't have known it with the information he had.
Also Saul did not confess that he knows Walt poisoned Brock (which he does). He confessed to having had Huell lift he cigarette.

And keep in mind that Jesse is not all there to begin with. He was recklessly throwing piles of money into yards and thats what got him caught. Now he feels totally betrayed on top of his own angst.

that's not really a leap at all. he knows that walt a) told him that gus used the ricin cigarette to poison brock, and b) was the one who actually took it. it doesn't matter that the ricin wasn't actually used because it's INCREDIBLY obvious that if walt stole it and them blamed it on gus that walt was the one who poisoned brock in the first place. if gus had actually poisoned brock, why would walt have stolen the ricin? just to make jesse think he did it differently? it's a perfectly reasonable conclusion to draw at that moment.
-
And keep in mind that Jesse is not all there to begin with. He was recklessly throwing piles of money into yards and thats what got him caught. Now he feels totally betrayed on top of his own angst.
yeah. the exact specifications of how brock was poisoned are irrelevant right now. he just knows that walt did it. the "how" and "when" don't factor in.

As I remember Walt destroyed the plant in the beginning of season 5?
Just re-watched episode 9 for the first few minutes and thats not a house thats been torched.I know its a flash forward and it could have been repaired after getting torched but i doubt it.
Now you`ve made me have to watch series 5 from the start again to find out if he destroys the plant.Damn you. ;D ;D
-
that's not really a leap at all. he knows that walt a) told him that gus used the ricin cigarette to poison brock, and b) was the one who actually took it. it doesn't matter that the ricin wasn't actually used because it's INCREDIBLY obvious that if walt stole it and them blamed it on gus that walt was the one who poisoned brock in the first place. if gus had actually poisoned brock, why would walt have stolen the ricin? just to make jesse think he did it differently? it's a perfectly reasonable conclusion to draw at that moment.
So Jesse saw through Walt's lies and assumed he was the one who poisoned Brock because he had the ricin cigarette stolen in order to blame the poisoning on Gus?
I think I see the point now, still a bit of a leap.

It's near the seventh minute in the first episode of season five. He puts the plant in the boot of his car.

Wow,thanks for that, just watched the start again,i must have watched every episode 5-6 times and never noticed it,every time i re-watch one i see something i missed the first time.

why else would walt have stolen it? if walt hadn't been behind the poisoning there would have been no reason for him to do that. it makes sense. sure there's a little hop to it, but nothing too outrageous.
-
Jessie is fixated on the ricin cigarette because Walt used it to manipulate him into coming over and thinking he stole it from him, so he can get him on his side against gus.
Jessie knows that Brock was poisoned using the flower, but now he knows he was also played by Walt since he stole the ricin cigarette from him and later planted it back in his house.
So Jessie now knows that Walt manipulated him and (I assume) he also knows that walt was the one who poisoned Brock with the flower.

I think it's easier to make sense if one accepts that Jesse doesn't trust a word that comes out of Walt's mouth. If he realises Walt poisoned Brock then he must have made up his mind that Walt was manipulating him when they found the "ricin" cigarette in Jesse's house.
At no point is the audience given such a hint, though.
-
it was this flower from the garden, near his pool, in a potted plant. he made his own ricin using it, I think? Season 3 ended with him looking at that flower, so we knew it'd play a big role in the show later. I bet "I let jane die" comes out too, when they throw down next week. And I bet he kills jesse.
admit it, we all thought he was going to belly shoot jesse during that desert hug tonight lol.
He made the ricin from beans. Remember how he had those castor beans.
Jesse was pissed because he thought the hug from Walt in the dessert showed that Walt really cared about him. enough that it convinced him to pack up and leave, but once he realized that walt was behind lifting the ricing cig, it made Jesse realize Walt has been playing him from day one. That Walt never gave a fuck about him and has continued to play him. Jesse always suspected Walt poisoned Brock but was played to believe otherwise. Jesse is just tired of getting played. he finally snapped and decides to blaze the house. I don't think Jesse knows Walt Jr. is back home. He probably takes off once he hears Jr rustling about. Probably why the house gets boarded up. how can you go back into a home saturated with gasoline?

Watch the episode again, Jesse is quite tired of Walt's deceptions- he doesn't hug him back. The options are clear. He either leaves or Walt kills him.

You can see Jesse break down and start crying with the hug. Yeah, but he cried because he knew what it meant. Leave or die.

Can you imagine if Skyler was home when Jessie busted into the house with the gas cannister! lol
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE BEFORE I DRIVE MY HIGH HEEL RIGHT THROUGH YOUR EYE!!!!" lol ;D

Skylar is a disillusioned lost soul, and there is a lot of pent up anger and frustration inside her that's going to blow any time now. I'm kind of hoping she goes ape shit at the breakfast table and snaps Walt Jr's neck.

Brilliant episode, especially the "confession".Walters alwways one step ahead.

yes, that was a good twist.

If you remember, Walter had told Jesse that Tyrese had stolen the cig with the ricin from him since he had such easy access to their stuff in the lab, and then gave it to Gus to use on the child. He also manipulated Jesse into the idea more by citing examples of Gus killing children.
The whole time, Yuell, in reality stole the cig from Jesse on behalf of Saul for Walt. Then Walt planted the cig in the robot vacuum cleaner and Jesse finally was able to rest his mind that Walt had nothing to do with it and he did almost kill him for nothing. Even though we all know thats not true...just how damn cold and smart Walt is.
Pretty sure that timeline above explains everything and why the Ricin cig ITSELF had nothing to do with Brock and its all Jesse knowing now that Tyrese never took it and that Gus was innoncent the whole time, and that Walter had now for sure been proven to have SOMETHING to do with what happened in the Brock situation atleast :)
-
Still gotta love Todd
"Uhh, I guess your busy...you know..with retirement." LOL. What a fucking momo. He is just too dumb to die though..one of those kids you know from back in the day in your town who drank, smoked, fucked, and did everything in the world, yet lives till 90 :)

Remember that Gus gave Jesse credit and treated him like he had potential. Jesse never had that in his life and Walt turned Jesse against him. Jesse realizes that he's been played by Walt like a flute.

That was a bunch of bs too, to get Jesse out of the lab and Gail back in so that Walt wouldn't have such a stranglehold on Fring. (Most difficult to believe part of the series tho. As if you couldn't find 1000s of chemists for that kind of money.) Walt was savvy enough to get rid of Gail (I didn't get it at the time) and install Jesse (whom Fring despised)since it was the only way to ensure his own continuity. Jesse's only non-pawn moment was when he told Fring not to kill Walt during the walk out of Mexico, which Fring mistakenly respected owing to his own history with his dead partner and not wanting to become like the cartel boss & Salamanca.
Jesse's best use is to die in such a way that Hank is potentially framed for his murder. That, given the assault history, plus 'the confession' would really paint Hank in a corner. But they keep making us think that Walt & Jesse are going to kill one another and they never do. Walt always had a use for Jesse before though, but I reckon he has some genuine affection for the kid. Can't wait to see.

Walt feels that he can do with jesse things he couldn't do with Walt Jr. But that's where the love ends. Walt has love for Jesse. Heisenberg doesn't. Walt has become some dual personality freak.

Yeah, I loved the hat.

I think it is hard to see if Walt is full on Heisenberg now or not. Was it a sign of weakness that he did not kill Hank? Probably not, since the "confession" tape made Hank shut up for now.
I guess Jesse will be Walt's real problem in future episodes. Especially if he starts talking to the DEA now that he hates Walt more than he probably ever has before.

Jesse is a lot of things but he's not a rat. He hates Hank more than anything. Jesse might end up getting caught in some crossfire or saving Walt in the process. The Wife is a wild card. The fact they brought Walt Jr. back and have him curious about his dad gives me a feeling he has some important role coming up. He was a forgotten character. they are setting this up nicely because you have Marie who wants Walt dead, you have Jesse who wants Walt dead, you have Skylar who wants him dead, you have Saul who wants fuck all to do with him, you have Hank who wants to bust him. Walt has his whole world against him. Sadly for him Todd is the only guy on his side.

100% on the not rat. Jesse just won't rat. Even back when he was a total junkie mess more than now he was pissed Jane even brought up the idea. That is the only good thing about him :)
