So no visas, no passports, no garbage collectors, no museums or zoos, 700,000 federal employees going home to cry themselves to sleep.
No wonder so many Americans are foregoing their passports and citizenships and moving to other countries.
-
Yet the federal gov will somehow still have billions of dollars to send overseas.
-
Yep, Billions to Muslim countries who are so ignorant and primitive living in that 13th century mentality where they act like unclean animals.
Meanwhile, a few years after the last shut down in 1995, we ended up invading 2 of those Muslim countries practically unopposed.
Guess they have been in a permanent shutdown since 1300 AD.
-
They can always go back to Israel and persecute/repress more Muslims.
always a good fallback plan
-
lol so I see ruining other countries eventually caught up with you.
Taking it in the ass from Israel hardcore. Good job America. You'll fail
-
Doesn't take much to ruin countries lots of animals in them. Just like a Zoo losing its ability to feed its animals.
-
Lol sucks to be American now doesn't it. Arrogant to the end, many lols are being had.
-
Its doesn't suck. Even if the Gov shots down. Its happened before and few years later we invaded and conquered 2 backward Muslim countries in a matter of weeks.
and as you lol your self over and over while you sit in Canada know your brothers you abandoned in the ME are getting a real kosher spanking and the end of America that you dream is still a fantasy.
-
Lol sucks to be American now doesn't it. Arrogant to the end, many lols are being had.
yeah it does right now. but theres no need for you to get all cocky about it. make no mistake. most of us still get up every morning and thank god we're not you. doesn't take a genius to figure out that most fo your hate for America is just plain old envy.
-
:D
-
lol what is there to envy? 17 trillion dollars of debt? I don't think so.
You are so blind of all you're doing to the whole world and God sends you signs, and you are so arrogant and you keep head banging walls with more arrogance. Proud of your killing, proud of your evil, proud of the destruction you spend on the earth. Well it won't last forever.
You destroy whole nations and kill millions over the world. God sends you hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, astronomical storms while your media reports it 'like a warzone' imagine the warzones you create and the calamities you send from skies above with your weapons on other people.
You spend billions and trillions on wars, destroying and impoverishing other nations. You sink deeper and deeper into debt. You don't stop. Your citizens go bankrupt, your businesses go bankrupt, your housing market goes bankrupt, your cities go bankrupt (Detroit hello), your government goes bankrupt, you can't even provide healthcare for your citizens but you can send money to israel and other nations to do your dirty work, you spend billions on weapons and wars.
No one will destroy America as you are becoming totally irrelavent, just a greedy bully. You will be the destroyer of your own self.
No one in your country owns SHIT, you only own debt and credit. A big illusion. Deception. Deceiving the whole world, when in fact you are the poorest nation on earth only deceived by material objects around you that will go to waste just like your country.
Have fun with your iphone 5asses while you can't get food.
Why do you hate China so much? I got nothing I give a damn about them either, but you hate them because they are prospering while you're not. When was the last time China launched wars upon wars? Look at yourself, every year you are in a war.

total envy lol
-
Meltdown.
China is not prospering. They have fake econ numbers like every other country right now...in fact they need us to buy their product and invent things to make to even be an industrialized nation.
We just happen to be in the lead of all that is happening in the world...like usual.
Detroit? Oh yes, liberal economics at work not to mention demographically challenged and overrun by immigrants unwilling to assimilate....hmmm.
-
lol im so envious of america always have been.... the sarcasm meter is so high right now ;D It's a Guinness world record.

Having crushed many of the countries you dune coons inhabit, under the treads of my tanks, I can safely say that we're all better off here then where ever the hell your from. GO pray to ur pedofile hero and stop posting.
-
lol Americants. Bullies against people who can't defend themselves. Well America can't defend itself from itself, epic fail.
-
Who's fault is it that they cant defend themselves?
Muslim 13th century animal superiority reigns again.
-
So no visas, no passports, no garbage collectors, no museums or zoos, 700,000 federal employees going home to cry themselves to sleep.
Not sure why zoos would shut down. Or museums. Or garbage collectors? Hell, I didn't know that Republic Services, the private company collecting my garbage, is affected by a potential shutdown of the Federal Government. Huh... you learn something new every day!
Passport services are also fine, since they're funded by separate revenue streams (fees) and will continue to operate.
Sure the shutdown is likely to be mildly annoying, but eh... most of what the Federal Government does is stuff it shouldn't be doing anyways. Perhaps the shutdown will help open some eyes.
No wonder so many Americans are foregoing their passports and citizenships and moving to other countries.
I don't think "many" means what you think it means... let's assume that 50,000 Americans gave up their citizenship this year... with 319,000,000 of us (give or take a few million) the people who renounce their citizenship work out to less than 0.2% of our population. That's about the same number of people we lose in traffic accidents every year. And let's not forget, we add about 4,200,000 new Americans every year (lots of sexy-time!).
Bottom line: if some doofus wants to renounce his citizenship, more power to him. It's a free country. I'm not particularly worried.
-
lol I just read about the imminent shutdown and even though I hardly log on here anymore I came on specifically to see if there's a comedic thread about in the political forum - and yes you did deliver! Thanks a_ahmed.
It's funny how instead of discussing the actual shutdown the typical response here is "so what if our economy sucks, we are able to attack countries of people who share the same religion as you!" I guess that makes any domestic problems go away? ::)
Also a_ahmed, was nice to have a shawarma with you 6 days ago when I was in your city, thanks for taking the time in the evening to get me from the hotel and also take me to the mosque after. ;)
I do feel bad for the 700,000 people who may lose their jobs, I really do. I'm not laughing at their individual situations at all, only at the type of comments from getbig regarding it.
-
If the government does get shut down we know one of the things that will still get funded
is
Obmacare
Well played Ted Cruz
-
According to Obama and the leftist sickos - we have plenty of money to wage war on Syria - but no money for a zoo. LMFAO
-
Hey Bobber, just trolling these racist fools ;D
It's funny when shit hits the fan they rage in how they bomb other countries and are proud of it. Ain't that the irony. Then when they are called out for attacking other countries, amongst other things, oh it's just too bad.
Well no more zoos America, but you'll continue to wage wars. HMMMMMMMMM so wise.

If you are concerned that anyone would mistake your posts as coming from one who supports America, you needn't worry.
Everyone knows you hate the USA and Israel and Jacques Chirac. Probably only three on a very long list.
And everyone knows you believe Islam is perfect and pure and will conquer the world eventually.
The fact that you are so relentless about making these same points over and over again does suggest that you may have some lingering doubts, and are really trying to convince yourself...

Why the heck is this in religious section? lol americans can't handle being trolled in politics.

Man, that Allah... He's not one for instant gratification. First all these rich people must spend their wealth and then, Allah will overcome the poor.
Perhaps he doesn't want to go after them while they're still rich because they'll veto Allah's petition to join the country club?

The Russians got sick of trying to build and educate a country that had no desire to better itself. They couldn't kill enough Afghans, their allies were worthless so they gave up and declared vistory and left. I'm sure you know next to nothing about that war or ours but things were pretty bad before the US and the West got invloved there. We, on the other hand are'nt allowed to kill enough Afghans, have realized the populace enjoys its self imposed misery, don't want to be Westernized..which is fine by me. Barry will give a great speech about ending the war, declare we lost and dance on the graves of all the wasted lives.
-

Bad planning and interference from the Americans (who, shortsightedly, created al-Qaeda in the process) were very involved. A populace that didn't want to live in the 20th century but was content living in the 13th century was another big issue.
Now, nobody wants a nuclear detonation but really, that's the best solution for dealing with the fucking nutjobs in Afghanistan.

Let them fight over the rubble....Bush did a great job right until he decided to rebuild shit we didn't really break in the first place. As far as our intervention in Afghanistan. While Russia was invited in by the marxist government, they had designs on the Iranian oil fields and could have used it to jump off into that area. Plus we were more the willing to help bleed the Soviets as pay back for Vietnam and a series of setbacks for NATO. It was evident that a prolonged war in Afghanistan could topple or economically damage the Soviets. That worked out well, we should have then backed the Northern Alliance and avoided the conditions that allowed AQ and the Taliban to exist in the country.

I don't agree that Bush did well. Afghanistan was a clusterfuck - a badly planned, badly executed clusterfuck. Leaving without rebuilding would have saved money and lives on our end, but would have resulted in something worse than the Taliban coming into power.
Frankly, since we went in there, we should have taken out the trash...

Just an FYI memo, it's been a while since Russia got it's ass kicked and I'm sure your weapons are more up to date, yet still the same country folk of Afghanistan are kicking your ass with ancient Russian/Chinese Kalashnikovs and Russian/Chinese made RPGs.
-

The only ones obsessed with violence are Americans as is evident in this section, proved it in this very thread ad nausauem. Proud of your militaristic murder like blood lust nature. Then you cry your vagina when the world hates you.
And for the retards claiming you 'rebuilt' Afghanistan, no you bombed it to smitheriness as witnessed by those on the ground when the invasion happened. You didn't rebuild shit except launder money of American tax payers. Same in Iraq
But hey wake up call, you're still losing on every front day after day from peasent fighters with kalashnikovs. Pretty pathetic, and the end result? You're broke as fuck. Your logical conclusion? Start more wars. Brilliant.

yeah yeah yeah. you sound like a 6 year old who believes that there is a "good guy" and "bad guy" in these wars. you kill us. we kill you. and the world keeps on spinning.
it's people like you who completely absolve one side of any wrongdoing and obsess about "infidels" who have been prepetuating these wars for the last 1,000 years. lets not kid ourselves. grow the fuck up and gain some fucking perspective. people who are consummate sensationalists are that way because they dont have the brain capacity to think logically through something. food for thought.

This angry misguided boy is just trolling.
Limited temporary shutdowns have happened before. Nothing significant is going to permanently change.
But what's not going to change anytime soon:
- Some Muslims acting like animals
- America as a super power
- The repression of Muslims near Israel
- America dominating any Muslim country it wants anytime it wants
- Certain Muslims hypocrisy in the face of Muslims animalistic behavior
- A little boys wish of America's demise that will never happen
- And some (including this little angry boy) living a Western life lie in Canada while not joining his brothers in the ME who he claims are so superior.
- and finally..... This little boys attempt to troll or insult Getbiggers with any desperate thing he can find and post on getbig to hide from the reality of his animal brothers getting repressed while he enjoys life in Canada.
Enjoy it, little boy, but you and i and everyone else knows nothing changing.
-

Lmao reminds me of right before the end credits of Blackhawk Down where it says something like 19americans lost their lives that day...and then says over 1500 Somalis were estimated to have been killed hahahahahhaa that's a ratio of like 75:1

Maybe, but many more US troops have died from depression and suicide. The US Military's suicide rate grew a startling 15 percent in 2012.
It's an interesting fact because you cowards don't even face your enemies any-more, it's all a video-game to you just using drones and yet still you're unhappy and for good reasons when you commit so much evil in the name of your country.
Still doesn't change the fact that you boast about being murderers, invaders and destroyers of nations but cry when your vagina hurts and try to call others savages when all you need to do is look in the mirror to find the real savages.
In 2011, anti-depressants became the third most prescribed drug in the united states.
Anyways, back on topic, more than 800,000 people have been sent home with no pay.

There are probably 800,000 Muslims living in caves.

In November 2012 the U.S. Census Bureau said more than 16% of the population lived in poverty in the United States, including almost 20% of American children,[7] up from 14.3% (approximately 43.6 million) in 2009 and to its highest level since 1993. In 2008, 13.2% (39.8 million) Americans lived in poverty.[8]
In 2011 extreme poverty in the United States, meaning households living on less than $2 per day before government benefits, was double 1996 levels at 1.5 million households, including 2.8 million children.[9] This would be roughly 1.2% of the US population in 2011, presuming a mean household size of 2.55 people. In 2011, child poverty reached record high levels, with 16.7 million children living in food insecure households, about 35% more than 2007 levels.[10] In 2009 the number of people who were in poverty was approaching 1960s levels that led to the national War on Poverty.[11]
There were about 643,000 sheltered and unsheltered homeless people nationwide in January 2009. Almost two-thirds stayed in an emergency shelter or transitional housing program and the other third were living on the street, in an abandoned building, or another place not meant for human habitation. About 1.56 million people, or about 0.5% of the U.S. population, used an emergency shelter or a transitional housing program between October 1, 2008 and September 30, 2009.[12] Around 44% of homeless people are employed.[13]

People can't afford healthcare, but Americans can continue to wage imperial games while putting big dollars in elite's pockets:

Oh and can't afford education, go join the military? LOL oh the irony.
But hey recently only around 200 people were kept to keep working in education departments. On the other hand military funding continues in full force.
-
And how many Muslims are living caves or shit shacks fucking goats in ME countries?
Considering you have Oil, you guys should be rolling in it. Instead, you continue to get fucked over by your Muslim leadership and YOU live in Canada.
Precious little boy.

the only Irony is you constantly blabbing about Muslim superiority and you don't even live with them in their shit shacks and caves earning $1 per day.
-
People can't afford healthcare, but Americans can continue to wage imperial games while putting big dollars in elite's pockets:
People can't afford many things. So what? Healthcare isn't a right.
Oh and can't afford education, go join the military? LOL oh the irony.
If you can't afford college, then work to afford it - and yes, that involves joining the military if you are so inclined. Plenty of us put ourselves through college beforeand plenty are doing it today.
But hey recently only around 200 people were kept to keep working in education departments. On the other hand military funding continues in full force.
Frankly, the Department of Education ought to be shuttered entirely. 200 people working there is 200 too many.
-
^Yeah you don't want an educated nation God forbid. Less education, more war, I mean that's only logical.
In Islam healthcare is a right and privilege and so is wellfare. In fact the origin of wellfare is from the second caliph of Islam Umar ibn Al-Khattab (ra). He established the concept of a baytulmal which is the public treasury and would distribute wellfare to those in need, such as orphans, children, nursing women, widows, the poor and helpless, etc... amongst other things. Mind you Islam is against begging and beggers and states that in any land that there is a single begger there is a corrupt leader. The purpose behind this is to help those that are truly helpless and to get them on their feet.. as well as establishing them as capable in society.
To top it off, if there was some calamity, famine, whatever it was, the leader himself would refuse to take anything until those under his care were taken care of, that was Umar ibn Al-Khattab, a true leader, not the losers today who leech off the people and live luxurious lives.
American presidents can take expensive vacations and trips while their own citizens are dying of hunger.
Of course you don't want that either in a capitalist society where people step over people and the rich grow richer while the poor get poorer.
That evil health care system, shut down government for it, but insist on waging more wars.
-
Look douchbag..Muslims didn't invent healthcare...u did invent things like IEDs, beheadings and pedophilic religious leaders. Besides having to go over and crush your upstart jihadi nuts, nobody cares about Muslims. We're tired of you people as seen by the fact that you idiots are gassing each other and we just don't care. If u didn't have oil, the West would let you starve

A_Acccccchmed is, unfortunately, partially correct. WE have become lazy and indolent. We do wage wars, destabilize governments, and prop up despots in order to further the US corporatocracy's financial interests. Our populace, rather than working hard and making sacrifices, demand instead to make their own selfish ends meet off the working man's sweat. The people receiving handouts are now lionized, rather than shamed. Our public education is tied to funding, resulting in curriculum being so dumbed down that high school graduates are now at barely an eighth grade reading level. The US government is merely a reflection of the real sickness......the US voter.
However, A_Achmed proposes no solutions...the system and beliefs in which he stands for are more sinister and menacing than anything the West has put forth. He has insisted quite frequently that Muslim-Majority nations are "held down" by the West and their Israeli "masters." If this were the case, than the Muslim people have absolutely no right at all to become the dominant faction on earth if they are so easily cowed and defeated by those wily Goyim and Jews.
As for 24KT....I understand, you have a vested interest in selling gold. You encourage some folks in purchasing gold and other precious metals by playing up possible doomsday scenarios where fiat currency completely fails. If ever a scenario happens, you can keep your gold....I will keep my ammunition and foodstuffs. And when gold and precious metals becomes valuable, it is battle-hardened people like me who know their way around firearms and combat who will come by and take it from you.

^Yeah you don't want an educated nation God forbid. Less education, more war, I mean that's only logical.
Not sure where you draw that inference from. I don't want to subsidize others, that much is true, but then again, that's not limited to college.
In Islam healthcare is a right and privilege and so is wellfare.
It is, is it? Go ahead then, collect it from the tree it grows on.
Healthcare isn't a right, plain and simple. You cannot be entitled, as a right, to something that requires someone else to do something. If healthcare is a right, that means that a sufficient number of people must be forced to become doctors; similarly for nurses, etc. Your "right" to healthcare isn't a right at all.
In fact the origin of wellfare is from the second caliph of Islam Umar ibn Al-Khattab (ra).
Of course it is... after all, we've already established that everything originates from Islam... what a fucking joke and how historically inaccurate.
American presidents can take expensive vacations and trips while their own citizens are dying of hunger.
Warren Buffet can take expensive vacations too. I don't hold it against him. As for the President qua public official, I think it's an insensitive and politically damaging thing to do, and can be a huge waste of taxpayers money.
Of course you don't want that either in a capitalist society where people step over people and the rich grow richer while the poor get poorer.
What I want is to live in the country envisioned by the Founding Fathers, to not have my hard-earned money taken from me at the proverbial point of the tax man's gun. I want a government that does the absolute minimum and let's me live and prosper in peace. This really isn't too much to ask.
That evil health care system, shut down government for it, but insist on waging more wars.
I can be against both the new healthcare law and wars. In fact I am. I only support defensive wars since I believe that the initiation of violence is always wrong.
But perhaps all this is a bit too nuanced for you. Perhaps if I put it all in small allegorical verses about elephants and bees and started the verses off with "Alif, Lal, Mim" it would help?

Actually yes we did:

Modern medicine, heck modern soap is still produced the way muslims formulated it today. Roman soap used to use cow urine.

Ok great...some guy 1400 years ago founded the welfare state...its 2013, muslims live in shit, eat shit, cause shit and are shit. There are NO enduring muslim empires from 1400 years ago. Your best chance ended at the gates of Vienna in 1683, its been a slow decent into the shitter of history since then.
-
Actually yes we did:
Modern medicine, heck modern soap is still produced the way muslims formulated it today. Roman soap used to use cow urine.
Yes, yes, Muslims invented everything...everything originated in Islam. That is why Muslim countries are 1,000 years behind the west. ::)

Why don't you smelly fuckers actually USE soap if you created it. Worst smelling creatures on the planet... Worse then pigs.

No... but even if you had, inventing the welfare state is nothing to be proud about.

Oh well, if some fancy e-flyer said so, then it must be true...
Modern medicine, heck modern soap is still produced the way muslims formulated it today. Roman soap used to use cow urine.
You seem to think that just because some Muslims helped make some advancements, that means that all advancements were made by Muslims. This is, of course, wrong.
More specifically, your claim about soap is silly since soap recipes date all the way back to Messopotamia, a long time before anyone heard of Allah or Muhammad. Your claim about the use of cow urine is, at best, misleading, but that's par for the course for you isn't it?
As for your claim about "modern medicine"... well, do I really need to bother debunking that bullshit?
The bottom line is that there have been advancements made by Muslims, but even if they did make many advancements in the past, today they are, mostly, stagnant and many - especially in the Middle East - actively seek to live the lifestyle prevalent in the 13th century and turn back many modern advancements. That speaks volumes.

Well put....I like to just call him an assbag but this works too.

Oh I forgot, you don't need education, you want to get rid of the remaining 200 employees that's why you only know what foxnews feeds you about Islam :)
Yes Muslims did invent the modern soap, and calling Muslims 'stinky' is retarded. We also wash ourselves before we pray five times a day. We shower regularly too. You're just racist slimeballs :)
Look it up and you'll find out that the concept of wellfare, child benefit, etc... was a muslim invention not some european thing.
-
Dude...u people smell so either u don't wash or u don't know how to wash. Where are u from. I've been to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Qater and Jordan. Most of those places are revolting. I've traveled extensively in Central and South America, the people there are just as poor and don't stink half as bad. I think u idots got to about the 13th century and called it quits.
-
lol i've travelled around the middle-east and africa too, and you're just a racist pig. I bet you can't tell the difference between asians or the difference between brown people arab or indian.
-
Oh I forgot, you don't need education, you want to get rid of the remaining 200 employees that's why you only know what foxnews feeds you about Islam :)
I don't need a "Department of Education" which is quite a different thing from not needing education. I don't need to be forced to fund other people's education which, again, is quite a different thing from not needing education.
Yes Muslims did invent the modern soap, and calling Muslims 'stinky' is retarded. We also wash ourselves before we pray five times a day. We shower regularly too. You're just racist slimeballs :)
They didn't invent the modern soap, sheesh. They documented a recipe... big deal.
Look it up and you'll find out that the concept of wellfare, child benefit, etc... was a muslim invention not some european thing.
Spoken like a truly illiterate person who is ignorant of history...

Guess they forgot the soap recipie lol...they all smell like onions today

So ur not arab, persian or any subset of the various tribes roaming around southwest asia. How long did u spend there? I've spent the better part of the last decade there and everytime I go back, its the smell that hits me the hardest. U people stink. I've also been all over Asia. I like asians.Koreans stink like garlic but besides that are pretty friggen cool. They're not trying to kill us. The japs really don't like us but they're clean so thats a plus. Indians...yeah they're dirty but they tend to hate u people as well so thats another plus. I have great respect for sikhs...anybody that hates u people worse then we do is also high in my book.
-
Oh and I love the Kurds as well...again u do the math on that.
-
I love how Muslims like to always talk about how they invented all this shit, yet for the most part they live like stinky animals in shit shacks and caves.
they would love to live in our government shut down.
-
I love how Muslims like to always talk about how they invented all this shit, yet for the most part they live like stinky animals in shit shacks and caves.
They invented shitty living - but, curiously enough, not man caves.
-
They invented living in shitty caves, however you are correct, they didn't invent rooms with 60 inch TV's, leather couches and shrines to the handsome and wonderful Tom Brady..not that I know anything about that.

I don't know about headhuntersix, but I have a nice tv, two cars (one of which is a high-end pricey German sports car), a house and a nice amount of money split between a bank and the stock market. I have no car loans, no mortgage and my credit card bill (I usually charge gas, groceries and bills to get airline miles) is paid off in full every month.
Many Americans are in debt, but so what? Credit is very cheap right now, and used responsibly, makes sense.
-
Yup makes sense, 17 trillion dollars sense, poorest nation on earth. Dumbest system on earth.
-
Yet Muslims still living in 3rd world dirt raping 13 yr olds you abandoned them fleeing to Canada.
-
Yup makes sense, 17 trillion dollars sense, poorest nation on earth. Dumbest system on earth.
I said "used responsibly" but I guess you can't quite understand English. Let's try something else that's more your cup of tea:
Alif. Lal. Mim.
When used responsibly,
Credit is good.
Lo. Great is Avxo!
-
No credit, debt and interest is no good, that's why you're in the shit situation you're in.
-
No credit, debt and interest is no good, that's why you're in the shit situation you're in.
Ahh, it's great to see that the "Alif. Lal. Mim." bit got your attention and got you to answer. If only you'd answered the point in question...
My situation is pretty neat. Granted, I'm much better off the most Americans are for a number of reasons, but the point is that with the exception of my credit card (currently, it's at $79.30 and I think there's another $48 or so about to hit because I got gas earlier) which I could pay off with the spare change around my house, I'm debt free and have a house I own free and clear, and two cars which I also own free and clear. Even if I had nothing in savings and no investments, I'd still be pretty good.
So tell me again... why am I in a "shit situation"?
Also, even if the U.S. Government is heavily in debt - and nobody argues that it is not - remind me what is that a problem right now? It is still able to get credit extended to it at remarkably low rates. It's a problem, no doubt, and one we ought to address. But you're making a mountain out of a (sizable) molehill.
And again, tell me how this debt affects me personally? With the exception of potentially having to pay more in taxes (a situation which I can adjust to, since I can easily leave my current job and reduce my income dramatically without affecting my lifestyle) the situation affects me very little in my life.
You think I worry that the Federal Government is shut down? I do not. I believe the Federal Government is several orders of magnitude larger than it ought to be, and if it weren't costing quite a lot even while "shut down", I'd advocate to keep it shut down - and I'd advocate quite fiercely.
-

Is your other one the Tesla? I remember you talking about it but don't remember if you own one. Anyway, I finally saw one on display at Tyson's Corner and I just wasn't impressed. I would have thought luxury car buyers would be more attracted to well...luxury, lol.
Tesla's luxury just seemed lacking for some reason.

No - just a vanilla middle-sized sedan. I am seriously considering getting a Tesla if/when I sell my Audi. I hope that by the time I'm ready to buy a new car, it's native range will have improved by another 50 miles, and the SuperCharger network will be more widely deployed.
I'm curious, what exactly did you not find luxurious, or what do you define as luxury? I mean, it's not meant to compete with, say, a Maybach or somesuch, but it's still a very well appointed car in the large executive sedan category. It's nicely designed but doesn't scream "here I am bitches!" - it's elegant but understated, which I personally like.
-
lol what is there to envy?
No one in America owns shit? The total assets owned by Americans and American businesses is about $50 trillion.
I believe that's more than all Islamic countries combined, although since they don't publish accurate numbers, that's based on estimates.
Look, we know you hate America. And you think Islam is the cat's meow. But we also know that when you try to cite facts and figures, you don't know shit from shinola.
-

Had to look up Maybach...holy shit, lol. That'll never be in my pay grade.
I was thinking more in line with a Lexus.
For some reason, the interior just appears cheaper in the Tesla. Maybe it's the design.
-
Had to look up Maybach...holy shit, lol. That'll never be in my pay grade.
I wouldn't buy a Maybach even if I could afford one anyways. I prefer more... shall we say nimble cars? It feels like a penthouse on wheels.
I was thinking more in line with a Lexus.
For some reason, the interior just appears cheaper in the Tesla. Maybe it's the design.
I quickly tried to find a similar angle shot, but couldn't. I think that it just "looks" different; consider this picture instead:
I "blame" the electronic dash, which does away with many of the switches, the knobs, the buttons and whatnot, and consolidates them into a single screen, and the less "padded" look in the seats and dash in the Model S. So I think it's all about design - Tesla is going for a different look. I guess that I would say I find the Lexus picture more "plush" but I don't know that in reality that would bear out.
Lastly, I think that some of the "hard" requirements that Elon Musk had for the Model S (including the silly requirement of being able to carry seven people, hence the option for the rear-facing jump seats) caused the designers to have to make some compromises.

Ummmm... I don't really want to partake of this ridiculous, pointless argument,
...but I thought I'd add just a little teensy weensy bit of clarity and just a few facts.
Yes, ...Muslims smell, ...but so too do North Americans, Asians & Europeans.
It has nothing to do with how many times one washes themself. It comes down to diet, foods, & spices.
Some smells we are used to... others we are not used to. Italians & Chinese often reek of garlic because they use a lot of it in their cooking. Indians & Pakistanis often reek of curry because they consume so much of it in their diet. North Americans... OY! North Americans smell the absolute WORST!!! North Americans smell like a cross between filthy wet dogs, and a 2000 head cattle farm. When it comes to smell, North Americans, and some Europeans are the absolute foulest smelling creatures on the planet. It's all the meat we consume, which doesn't get properly digested, and often times sits & ferments, and rots in our intestines for years. That pungent aroma seeps out through the pores. Add a little sauerkraut and oh lordy! It's truly disgusting, ...but we are used to it, so we don't notice it. Plop a North American or European in the middle of Mumbai, Hong Kong or Karachi, ...and they will smell you coming from a mile away.
OK, with that said... carry on.
-
I don't know about headhuntersix, but I have a nice tv, two cars (one of which is a high-end pricey German sports car), a house and a nice amount of money split between a bank and the stock market...

I truly regret the fact that I do not have the ability to be a fly on the wall to be able to see the look on your face, when the derivatives bubble pops... the stock market crashes... and the FRN plummets to it's true value. THAT I know I will regret.

If the stock market crashes as hard as you say, gold isn't really going to save me anyways – and even if it would, the gold wouldn't help me much in a totally collapsed economy. What would the gold buy me in that economy and from whom?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Gold can be useful as a hedge to buffer inflation. It's not a panacea and if the shit hits the fan it will be less useful than salt and pork bellies.

Going long on physical gold = shorting the dollar (without the margin calls)
Shorting derivatives indeed? pffffft? Why would I want to short sell a pumped up stock?
So that when the market crashes, and cash looses it's purchasing power, ...I'll get a ton of worthless paper?

That doesn't make him dumb, it's just makes him sound dumb... sometimes. The truly dumb are those who read a statement and completely misinterpret it's meaning by a full 180 degrees. Those who read a statement disagreeing with something they said, ...and they jump up & down shouting "See, so & so disagrees with you" That's F'ing loco!

Americans the most broke nation on earth;
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/personal-finance/household-finances/americans-trying-to-keep-up-with-the-joneses-and-going-broke/article12060070/
The Joneses Are Broke
Many of the people driving around the suburbs in their giant SUVs while talking on their new cell phones are deeply in debt. If you ask them how they are doing, they will tell you that they are just barely getting by. According to a Federal Reserve Board study, 43 per cent of American families spend more than they earn. Statistics from the Federal Reserve Board also show that, in 2005, household debt was at a record high when compared to household income. Not surprisingly there was also a record number (2,039,214) of consumer bankruptcies filed in 2005 according to the American Bankruptcy Institute .
As mentioned earlier, the grim outlook isn’t limited to America either. A survey conducted by Newspoll Market Research indicated that nearly two-thirds of Australians say they cannot afford to buy everything they need. Yet, the World Bank cites Australia as having the twentieth highest per capita income in the world according to the publication “World Bank Development Indicators 2006”. Luxembourg, Norway and Switzerland took first, second and third places. The U.S. came in at No.6 and Canada at No. 19. Why so much debt and such a grim outlook from areas of obvious affluence? It’s simply a matter of people spending far more money than they should. If you can “afford” life’s luxuries but aren’t funding your 401(k) and maximizing your retirement savings , you need to reevaluate your financial situation.
-
U.S. Is Broke, Can’t Afford to Raise the Debt Ceiling says Peter Schiff
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/breakout/u-broke-t-afford-raise-debt-ceiling-says-114000942.html
"The reasons we have to raise our debt ceiling is because we can't pay our bills," Schiff says. "We're broke and we can't pay for anything, we have to keep going deeper and deeper into debt."

So that when the market crashes, and cash looses it's purchasing power, ...I'll get a ton of worthless paper?
Are you insane?! Sounds to me like you're the one not only talking but thinking out of your ass!
If you had just half the brain you think you do, ...you'd be embarassed by your statement?
Going long on gold is not equivalent to shorting the dollar because it is possible for both gold and the dollar to appreciate with respect to other currencies.
And gold has been a rotten investment so far. A year ago, for example, it was at $1774.70 an ounce; now it's at about $1200.
Also, the "market crashing", unless you are referring to the Forex market itself, does not entail the dollar losing its purchasing power, my friend.

Huh... none of that was mentioned in the circlejerk, err, I mean the 15 minute marketing presentation she attended on this stuff, where she and everyone else high-fived themselves and praised each other for being super-smart and buying gold in tiny amounts, in anticipation for the day when you can trade plastic cards of gold at your local grocery store. I'm still not sure how you get change in such a scenario, but hey... that's for the advanced seminar.
It's a pity though... 24KT comes on a body-building forum expecting to be able to find gullible people to take advantage of. And what she finds is a number of people who not only know the subject better than her, but have more than just superficial knowledge and can completely destroy the arguments she's copy-pasting.

Surprise, Surprise...Taxes Still Due!
The IRS is reminding taxpayers that "the Oct. 15 deadline remains in effect for people who requested a six-month extension to file their tax return." They are also letting taxpayers know that the "current lapse in federal appropriations does not affect the federal tax law, and all taxpayers should continue to meet their tax obligations as normal. Individuals and businesses should keep filing their tax returns and making deposits with the IRS, as required by law."
According to the IRS, more than 12 million individuals who have filed for an extension have not filed their Form 1040 for the year 2012. However, in fairness, they still have five days...

That cracks me up. Sadly, the salient point of the second frame probably isn't too far from the truth.

So the debt is 17 trillion in the next five years the debt will probably reach 23 trillion. Then we'll have the same thing happen again and it'll be even worse.
The united states of america is a ticking time bomb/ruined already.

Don't you read what you post? The article in question makes the point that the US debt is not that large, when compared to the size of its economy. Particularly when you compare it to other nations.
I think you're better off sticking to your usual fringe sources for anti-American material. But even then, you might want to read your source to make sure it is supportive of the point you are trying to make, before you post it. You know, just to be sure ....

17 trillion dollars is too large, by any metric. We've been able to afford it because the interest rates we got were so good, but enough is enough already.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I had to locate an asbestos suit, but I have it on now.
I don't think the USA has a burning deficit problem. It is true that the national debt grew by almost $7T under Obama. If that were to continue, it would be a problem big time. But the yearly deficits are coming down now, mostly because the economy is recovering (albeit at a snail's pace), and so tax revenues are growing again.
The current national debt is equal to about one year's GDP. Compare that to a homeowner with a mortgage equal to one year's salary, but no other debt. No one would call someone like that over-leveraged.
The US government owns assets equal to approximately $100T. Private equity totals another $50T (net of debt). That is $150T in assets versus $17T in liabilities, or a debt/asset ratio of 11%.
So, from either an income or asset point of view, US debt levels are conservative relative to those of many other countries, which is what the article a_ahmed referenced says (although a_ahmed was trying to make the opposite point).
Of course I agree that we are spending too much, and entitlements in particular need adjustment. I think that could happen if all the posturing and rigidity on both sides were abandoned.

I guess that depends on your definition of "burning." I don't think we're off the cliff, but we are very close to the edge and it's an unsteady cliff. It's not a comfortable position to be in. And it has nothing to do with being overleveraged.

I don't think that comparison is apt, because the GDP isn't the government analog of a citizen's salary.

Sure. If you liquidate the entire country (can you, by the way? that would be an interesting firesale), then yes, you can cover the debt and have money left over for a big party. But what will you do the morning after? The fact is that it's simpy silly to argue that we're in good condition because we have a really big and pricey diamond in our safety deposit box while we're borrowing money to make ends meet.
Of course this isn't to say that we shouldn't borrow money - or that we can't afford to - especially considering the interest rates that United States debt commanded and still does. But it's not a strategy that is sustainable.
So, from either an income or asset point of view, US debt levels are conservative relative to those of many other countries, which is what the article a_ahmed referenced says (although a_ahmed was trying to make the opposite point).

Oh come on... we are dealing with partisan hacks who make everything political and do nothing but posture. It can't happen without the posturing and the rigidity; nothing can because Washington is fundamentally broken and staffed by the idiots we keep electing into office.

The United States is insolvent having announced a GAAP budget deficit, which was $6 trillion last year, with revenues of only $3 trillion. And the combined debt and entitlements is now $60 - $70 trillion. Mathematically it's over.

Insolvency means insufficient income to service debts. There is no other definition. So the US is not insolvent.
The unfunded liabilities you refer to are over a 75 year period. In addition, these are actuarial "worst case" figures that assume that everyone on these programs lives out the maximum projected life span, which will never happen in practice.
Finally, according to the Tax Policy Center
(http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?Docid=200)
The deficit is shrinking to the point where it will go down to almost half its current level by 2018.
Still, I agree this is all a problem. But we are very far from running out of money and being unable to service debts.

The deficit is not shrinking, it's an accounting slight of hand. Do you really expect somebody with $3 trillion of annual revenue to be able to deal with $60 trillion or more of debt? It’s impossible. Wait until interest rates go up. If the deficit is falling and the country is not insolvent, then why the continuous need to raise the debt cealing? Obama claims it's to pay bills, but the reality is that it proves that the country can't pay its bills.
There are not enough jobs and income to support the governments that we have. The disposable personal income and wages keep going down. The U.S has 50 million people on food stamps, and 1 in 5 on some form of social assistance. Pensioners will inevitably take the same "haircut" as the people in Detroit.
The $85 billion a month in stimulus is no longer making a dent in the economy. They are stuck. The FED is the buyer of last resort and no one will want the billions in bonds they are buying each month. Who will they sell to? Foreign nations are not going to keep buying U.S debt. The loss of reserve status is being hastened and will happen. When it does look out for the inflation to come. We may not even have to wait for that if the FED completely loses control of the bond market though. Things are going to get very bad in 2014, not based on doom and gloom, but the true reality of the poor fundamentals of the economy. People would be wise to brace accordingly.

We don't have $60T of debt. We do have unfunded liabilities, although I think your number for that is high.
Congress used to have to directly authorize each bond issuance by Treasury. Beginning in the 19th century, Congress ceded this power to the Treasury, but retained the power to approve an increase in the total amount of debt the US issued. Total amount of debt. Hence, annual deficits can decrease while the total debt increases. It just means the rate of increase decreases, which is what is happening.
Since 2009, the President and Congress have been unable to come together on a budget, but have instead passed continuing resolutions to keep the government funded. So we don't have a budget, let alone a balanced budget.
Current spending levels incur annual deficits. That's why the debt ceiling needs to be raised every year. This will happen until the deficit is zero, or we start generating surpluses.
But these spending levels have been approved by Congress. The proper way to eliminate the deficit is through compromise on a viable budget that does that. But that hasn't happened, obviously. Yet.
There are not enough jobs and income to support the governments that we have. The disposable personal income and wages keep going down. The U.S has 50 million people on food stamps, and 1 in 5 on some form of social assistance. Pensioners will inevitably take the same "haircut" as the people in Detroit.
Inflation-adjusted disposable income is going down only for working people. The well off are raking it in more than ever.
The reason we have so many people on assistance is the Great Recession, and I believe you are counting those on Social Security and Medicare, as being on "social assistance."

I don't think the stimulus really did very much. It wasn't targeted properly and wasn't big enough.
Foreign countries hold about one-third of our debt. Two thirds is held by private companies or individuals or the government.
I agree with you that the Fed will have a tough time tapering, but I don't think it will lose control of the bond market. Who else would control it?
I also don't think the US dollar will be dropped as a reserve currency anytime soon. There are no good candidates to replace it. That of course might well change if the antics of the past few weeks are repeated.

My reference to the bond market was referring to the increase in the 10 year yields going from 1.4% to 3% in a short period. Granted, the historical average is 7%, but the U.S can't realistically handle a rate over 3%. The rates have increased even in the face of massive QE. That's losing control.

The Fed Funds rate has stayed at close to zero. Interest rates have recently started going up because investors were beginning to favor riskier assets like equities. That forced bond prices down. And that is precisely what the Fed expected as the recovery strengthened. Part of the spike was no doubt triggered by the worsened uncertainty about when and how the Fed will start to taper, but that again is premised on an improving economy.
So I doubt it means the Fed is losing control. The real test will come when they do start to taper, which they may never get to if Washington continues to break all the china in the shop.

I can't see how they can taper, other than inevitably by no other choice when things collapse regardless of QE. If anything, they'll increase QE in the New Year.

The more you increase this 'debt ceiling' the more you are proving how much more screwed you will get. Just buying time, death is inevitable.

As long as they still keep on target practising in the Middle East, all is well.

I've often wondered how these suicide cults like Jonestown Guyana actually happen.
Mr. 1Derful, Ahmed, I think we're witnessing first hand how these things start out. Can you even believe what you're hearing? I know I can't. This is seriously blowing my mind!
