It was Nasser's birthday 3 weeks ago. He passed just a little over 6 months ago. I miss him very much. He was a great human being. He first inspired me to bodybuild over 22 years ago and more importantly the last 5 years inspired me to be a better human being and a free thinker who can look beyond what is forced in front of our eyes.
From visiting my home from time to time, just because just to enjoy spending time the four of us, to sharing great bodybuilding anecdotes and copious meals, I'm grateful that we became friends, not ashamed to say looking back to 1992, he was like a superhero to me, larger than life. But his spirits, his individuality and philosophy is what I cherish the most.
GodSpeed Nasser, you are missed. A true mentor, a friend, a role model to all of us.

Nice remembrance. No doubt he deserves your appreciation and love of the friendship you shared. Never let that go.

Glad you had a good visit. I wouldn't exactly say Beaverton is the hallmark of our town though. It is kind of like suburbia anywhere....ticky tacky little boxes for houses, too much traffic, and a lot of strip malls.
It was foggy and raining all day today. I am sure those filming Grimm got some excellent shots.

Sorry you lost such a dear friend Alex. RIP Nasser

A suppressed SBR? In the US? What state is THAT? Be careful, hombre. If the local PD sees you all high speed/low drag out hunting, they're gonna bring in their SWAT team and tank.

Alex, don't know if you saw my Nasser story from my thread at the top of the page. Any way here it is.
On tour with Nasser late 90s.
Nasser was a great guest and very funny even if it was at the expense of everyone else. He hung shit on just about every other pro and although it could seem he was full of hate, a lot of it was tongue in cheek. He would would tell the most incredible and unbelievable stories of the other pros. Sometimes I think he would just see how far he could go before you knew he was bullshitting.
He also had a kind side that he didn't like anyone to see. We went to this restaurant on Sydney Road one night, it was Nepalese from memory and a family was working very hard to keep the doors open. They had the Dad cooking, the Mum serving and a few little kids out the back on broken furniture and on the floor watching a tiny little TV. You could see they were doing it hard and basically had nothing. When we were leaving Nasser said he had forgotten something and went back inside. I watched through the window as he handed over a couple of hundred bucks to the Mum. He came outside and never said a word about it. I thought that showed a lot of class.
Another time in a different restaurant, much more upmarket, we got really bad service. One of us complained when the food came out cold or undercooked or something. Nasser quickly paid the bill and said we are leaving, convinced that chefs spit in your food if ever you complain. With a dead pan, straight face, he warned me to always leave a restaurant in this situation, no exceptions.
On one tour, we had had quite a few bottles of beer on the last night, we had an early start and I dropped him off at the hotel late in the night. After a few hours I returned to get him to the airport. I was exhausted, hungover and just made it out of bed. There he was as fresh as could be, no hangover, all packed up and waiting at the front. When we got to the airport he handed me a big envelope full of 8 X 10 pictures that he had been selling on the tour. He had stayed up and signed every one of them, maybe 50-60. Some he even had left a message like, "Train Hard ............. Your friend, Nasser" leaving blank spaces for their names. When I asked him what they were for, he said "please give them out to the fans that coould not afford to come to the show"
He could be cutting with his opinions and stories but then had this kindness that I have seldom seen.
RIP Nasser.

Had a great sense of humor. I'll share some more pics and stories when I get a chance.

i feel exactly as you do re Nasser- the man was a champion not just in BB but in life, a true friend i dearly miss.
hope you are well Big Alex

Too bad he couldn't be truthful to himself.
We humans are imperfect. Some of you other imperfect ones expect too much of those who have nearly achieved perfection. It is sad that in remembrance you cannot be generous enough to cut those who have passed some slack. Nasser was no god, but a lot of folks genuinely admired him and respected him. If you don't, that's your prerogative. Why can't you just then shut he fuck up with you negative posts about him then?
-

Thanks Swami and couldn't agree more. We were very close by the end, so I took it hard. I think he knew subconsciously or not that a change was coming. I moved to the bay area in late January but Nasser insisted that we meet at least once more before his trip to Egypt. I was buried in my own shit and it didn't happen. Last I saw him was early Jan at our house. He had lost a lot of weight but was still sharp as 10 euro historians daisy chained together.
While he was in Egypt we spoke once on the phone and exchanged a couple of texts. That's just the man Nasser was; I was going through a tough time with the pregnancy and a little home sick, looking for advice. Nasser smoothly put things back in perspective and helped me see things to look forward to. It worked :)
GodSpeed to his soul. He was truly one of the greatest spirit I've ever met. Kindness, a great sense of humor and mindset on worldviews that would put any "nation leaders" to shame.

I heard you on the Adam Carolla podcast asking Adam who his favorite porn star was. You were very meek.
-
A very smart man... who had no clue his internal organs melted after decades of steroid abuse, and only figured it some weeks before it was too late.
Don't be so snide: Nasser was weeks away from proving a theorem that shows which of the variety of string theories on offer is actually correct.

Was that the same episode you called in to get advice on how to extract semen from your lower intestine and asking if Drew or Dr Spaz could comment on if semen usually carries HPV? seems like you had concerns about polyps. You also inquired if a cock tip acts as a plunger suggesting you were looking forward for a second ram. I recall even Alison used to word "loser".
Sorry chief.

unbelievable. he was modest in a way when it came to respect, didnt feel the need to boast his kindness like so many do for attention. and a wise man , could talk to homeless drunk on the street or the mayor, wouldnt matter.

You have many fond memories of time spent with your friend. I hope you have no regrets. Life moves us in strange ways. Hold on to all those good times you shared with your friend. He lives now in your memories. Those memories can bring you much comfort.
As an old man, there have been a lot of people I loved who have passed before me. This is what happens when you live a long time. The best way to remember and honor your friends and family who have passed is to remember all the best times you shared with them.

So unique that he couldn't develop his back...and so unique that after retirement he felt the need to stay "300 pounds with abs"..
Unique thinkers don't do well in bbing---and the few that do, go crazy like Mentzer.

Hmm. Angry post. Not sure on your Getbig debut, but perhaps you missed all the Team Nasser 'praising-him-to-the-sky-like-he's-the-second-messiah' stuff' - that went on for years, with Nasser's implicit consent. I'm the last one one to piss on another man's grave, but I will give an honest assessment. Sure, we're all imperfect - that's a given, but we all don't don't Huge Nasser ourselves six-feet under, accompanied by a cheering section. You want to re-write history? That's fine. Just expect to be called on it.

How many of these ridiculous Nasser "group hug" threads are we going to have here?
Nasser was a drug addict. He died of his own stupidity and self-abuse. He did many nefarious things later in life to survive and make money. For the last 10 years of his life he was basically a scrub and a loser. I lived in San Diego for many years and witnessed many of these things first hand.
Most of you have no fucking clue.

Thanks guys, great posts much appreciated. Nasser enjoyed getbig which he qualified as the Victorian Circus of bodybuilding. Contrary to many false rumors he was always an observer. The most interesting characteristic about him was his consistency; moral and physical, which most likely contributed to him being a tier one competitor for so many years. Nasser was too smart for bodybuilding but had the incredible genetics, that talent that can't be ignored. Remember that 15 years ago things were different and the consequences weren't as well known as they are now. The recognition was also different; now nobody gives a shit; I don't who half of these new guys are but back then, it was still the golden age.
On a personal level, I had the opportunity to gain his respect and had honest conversations about pretty much everything he had a view on which was literally universal :).
GodSpeed to him.

That's usually my stance. I am surprised to see you post this. I believe many men have had a homosexual experience but not most.
I don't believe I am in denial about anything except my incredibly handsome looks and the fact that I am not as wealthy as I would like to be. :)

.......well fair enough. For some reason I thought you argued in another thread that the majority of men had homosexual encounters.

.......well fair enough. For some reason I thought you argued in another thread that the majority of men had homosexual encounters.
Of course the various sources which claim to have studied this situation don't all agree on an exact percentage. I read somewhere that it was one in six men. I have not seen a study about lesbian activity. Clearly this isn't consistent with the proposition that it is most or the majority, some is a broader term which better fits. If I posted that it was the majority of men, it was an error.

just no need to turn this into an undercover kiss and tell.

I met nasser twice at the fibo in Germany, bought him nasser on the way and a signed pic.
Nasser was a cool guy, smart, and he remember me the second year i met him.
-
So unique that he couldn't develop his back...and so unique that after retirement he felt the need to stay "300 pounds with abs"..
Unique thinkers don't do well in bbing---and the few that do, go crazy like Mentzer.
Maybe he didnt do well in BBing business. But he did well in bodybuilding competitions. In my book, he won MR.O twice at least.

Actually 3 times a charm. Even the impostors acknowledge it.

Very moving. Nasser had a lot of people in this world that loved him.

He did indeed. he spread happiness everywhere he went. Sounds cliche but he truly did.

Team Nasser forever.
Nasser is one of the only few pros that had a brain and mind that could talk, intelligent, educated and smart. With a sense of dignity and respect. Clearly from all those that knew him a good friend. Bobber told me a few stories and one can definitely feel the genuineness of his character.. he sincerely cared for those around him. I felt really sad when I heard that he passed away...
Most pros on the other hand I've had the chance to hear or listened to that opened their mouths have only a body and a whole lot of nothing else.
I sport Nasser like glasses, but it's just a coincidence lol, I didn't intentionally get them because of Nasser but I love retro glasses :)

Please don't forget that he also defiled Milos' wife and told everyone about it. RIP dear Nasser.

ROFL.
So smart he didnt realize he fried his internal organs only before being told so by a doc weeks before it was too late.

If this is true, then the world needs more people like him. Too many folks are spreading negativity. All the more reason to miss him.

Nasser was remembered by his peers as person who did spread negativity and was a sore loser...

A true mentor, a friend, a role model to all of us.
when i saw nasser in egypt he really said great words about you alex.. he told me you were a very good person and your personality in real life was totally diff. than GB.. he didnt mean you were bad on GB but he meant you were much better in reality.. and he considered you a true friend..

Being smart and being unrealistic with things that are intensely personal is not at all uncommon. Do you actually know he fried his internal organs or are you just making a generalized negative statement to make yourself feel better about your own opinions? Do you never have anything positive to say about anything? Did you find a job yet, or are you still unemployed? If I were looking to hire someone, I would have serious issues with hiring you, no matter how qualified you may be. This is because you are so full of doom and gloom. I'd worry you'd bring my organization down.
