These are not parodies???

Doyougotinsurance.com?
That has to be a joke. No?

These are not parodies???
I heard that they are not.
All news media in my area report it as being a serious attempt at promotion.

I've said before. The party of moral losers.

Companies using memes to promote their products is nothing new, but what two Colorado groups have done to support Obamacare is really going to get people talking around the Jägermeister machines. The Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and ProgressNow Colorado Education are using a new series of ads for a “Got Insurance?” campaign to promote and show appreciation for Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act.

Not the kind of message we should be sending to kids.

It is real.
More mindblowing proof (like the 'selfies' with their dead relatives) that this country is hoplessly doomed and is now at an u stoppable rapid descent.

Whoa! Why is this retarded? (Which of your personalities is wrote this, TonyMcLiar?)
Aren't you always harping on how irresponsible it is of all the single mothers who need to go on the dole?
Seems to me that an ad supporting contraception would be right up your alley, ya inconsistent jackoff.

so your idea is to promote promiscuity in single women?
new flash, you dont have to promote sex to promote contraception.

The adds are funny. They weren't created by the Affordable Healthcare Act or the signup for healthcare in Colorado. Here is the link to the real Colorado signup page for healthcare insurance: http://connectforhealthco.com/ (http://connectforhealthco.com/)

I agree that some of them are humorous but that doesnt give them a pass for promoting behavior that is not ideal

IT IS BEING PROMOTED!!!!
simply b/c it is in many of their heads does not mean that it needs to be given societal approval.
You think promoting promiscuity in college kids is good for the country?
You think promoting drinking until you hurt yourself is good for the country?

No insults for now. (Really hard for me to not make jokes about you being a "weirgin" or freaking out about the average WYHI thread, btw.)
Tony, are you for real?
Do you seriously find objection to ads that accurately recognize that young adults are sexually active today in 2013 in the USA?
Are you maybe just acting like these ads are offensive (improper?) because you're an opponent of ACA?
Where do you live where that attitude is not considered out-of-step with your age group?
After all, none of the models depicted in the ads look underage, do they?
I think the ads are kinda funny and completely harmless, if not slightly useful.
-

There is a difference between recognizing that these things happen and promoting them.
I can recognize that binge drinking is part of many young peoples life, that doesn't mean I think you should promote it as acceptable behavior.
Same with being promiscuous
Do you think your stance is do to your support for obamacare.
-
The ad is a sad attempt at appealing to hip twenty-somethings. Birth control pills don't prevent aids.

I think we don't speak the same language sometimes. I question your definitions of "promiscuous" and "promote".
From dictionary.com:
pro·mis·cu·ous
[pruh-mis-kyoo-uhs]
adjective
1. characterized by or involving indiscriminate mingling or association, especially having sexual relations with a number of partners on a casual basis.
I don't think these ads concern promiscuousness, only pre-marital sex. These terms are not interchangeable (except to abstention-minded bible belt folks, maybe).
I'd also like to know how you think these ads are "promoting" sexuality? Seems to me that they're promoting insurance. They also imply contraception is good when it comes to pre-marital sex. Are they saying that pre-marital sex is good? Hmmm. Well the people in the ads DO look happy but that's about it. In this day and age, the debate as to whether or not pre-marital sex is acceptable is over. It's here to stay and is not considered a bad thing by the great majority, just a thing that one needs to take great care to be responsible about (by making sure to use protection).
That's fine if you're an uptight social conservative but please realize that these views are out-of-step in today's world and COMPLETELY counter to opinions of most getbiggers. As I've said before, if anybody should be expected to respect the power of hormones, it's your average getbigger. (Since you're an anabolic "virgin" who grew up in Texas, though, I can maybe I can understand why you are different.) BTW, if your conservative views about sexuality are born of attempts to validate your own dry dick well, you don't need to accept that. If you have just a little money in your pocket (for a plane flight), even a short, pudgy asian dude can tear it up over in Thailand. (I'd be happy to share my knowledge with you about this, too. lol)

You didn't but the website did where is says it is the Colorado healthcare signup site. There are a lot of idiots who would read that and think it was true. Apparently some of those folks are Getbiggers. When you read the responses here, you notice they imply that it is a legitimate site put up by the government. It's a prank site, plain and simple.

It is? Proof?
The proof is in simply doing a little checking, as I did when I clicked on the link which was originally posted in this thread. At the bottom of the Yahoo News post there is a link to the site that created these adds, it is: doyougotinsurance.com (http://doyougotinsurance.com). Unfortunately, people believe what they want to believe and often don't question things like this when it supports their beliefs. The site claims to be the Colorado healthcare sign-up site. I already posted the link to the real Colorado healthcare sign-up, but here it is again: https://prd.connectforhealthco.com/individual (https://prd.connectforhealthco.com/individual). Anyone with a little web design experience can put up a site that purports to be something it is not.

I went to the first link you posted and it takes you to the second link you posted. How could it possibly be a prank site if it actually directs people to the signup page?

If I had the time and inclination, I'd build a site just to show you how it is done. Anyone can post any link one their webpage even links to government sites. You believe it is official because that is what you want to believe. The unfortunate thing is you're not alone, you have a ton of company.
There are people in government who are stupid enough to create ads like those. In fact since the Legislators are divided on Obamacare, it's possible some Congressperson actually did create it, although I rather doubt or at least hope that isn't the case.

I never said it was an "official site." Never believed it was. You said it was a "prank" site. That's what I was addressing. It's not a "prank" site. It's a site a non-government agency website established to market Obamacare to young folks.
Maybe we have different definitions of a "prank" site? A site that has fake news (The Onion) or other sites with parodies and satire are prank sites, at least to me.
-

I think you and I are splitting hairs here.
In my opinion, it is unfortunate that this site exists at all, because it sends the wrong message to young people while also reflecting badly on Obamacare, which with the sign-up problems and with people having their policies cancelled has enough issues to deal with already. The site appears to encourage bad and careless behavior on the part of younger people, many of who already have the bad behavior thing down pat.
It may not be a prank site as you suggest it isn't. What do you think of it, the message it sends and the reflection by association on Obamacare? What do you suppose their site creator's intent was when they put it up?
-

this isnt a prank as far as I can see, its a bad attempt to get ppl to sign up. Like you said promoting bad behavior in a group of individuals already known for their bad behavior.

It sends a bad message to young people that promotes binge drinking and promiscuity. We should be encouraging kids to be responsible and have committed relationships.
It does smack of desperation. Not enough young people are interested. This is a way to try and get their attention. Wrong approach.

Are you suggesting this website is endorsed by the Colorado healthcare signup site? I think otherwise. However, whoever created it probably did so with the intention of shining a disparaging light on Obamacare.

I think the ads are in bad taste. I am saying this because a tiny bit of research exposed them to not be ads that were either created by the government or endorsed by the government. It seems highly likely they are intended as an attack on Obamacare. This is why I am saying this.
If Obamacare sucks, it sucks. But divisive websites to undermine Obamacare simply don't wash with me.

You do understand that whether the govt created them or not does not have any relevance to the legitimacy of the ads, right?
The ads themselves give you links to facilitate signing up don't they?
What more proof do you need they are legit ads?

No. He doesn't understand.

Sure. Just like PAC ads aren't officially endorsed by candidates. Candidates often let other people do their dirty work.

TonyMcTones implied it. I doubt that he's a fag but he is strongly against casual sex.
For a relatively young guy on getbig (home of the ever-popular WYHI? threads), I find this unusual. And funny.
-
No. He doesn't understand.
No you don't understand. Anyone can create links on their website to legitimate sites. The question is why they are doing this. Is it to advertise and support Obamacare or is it to undermine it?

Why would I do that, Tommy? I have no stake in Obamacare. I don't meet the qualifications for a signup. My medical insurance isn't being cancelled, however the premiums are increasing as they have every year for as long as I can remember, much longer then anyone ever imagined Obamacare. I don't fit the profile of the folks in the adds. I am merely offering another perspective. Perhaps I am guilty of being suspicious, but I always wonder about people's motives. I even allowed in an earlier post that some elected government officials are dumb enough to put up such a website. You seem intent on it being the work of Obamacare. I simply don't buy that.
You are right, there are many better ways to undermine the law if one chose to do this. Whether fortunately or unfortunately, their are a lot of not so bright folks out their who simply don't think before they act. Maybe who ever created the website thought it was a humorous thing to do and had no ulterior motives at all. I don't know this and neither do you, unless the site creator is a friend of yours or it is you.

You've said this before. You are welcome to believe what you will. I happen to not agree. But it is truly silly of us to continue to argue this point. In the end, it makes almost no difference at all. Obamacare will succeed or it will fail regardless of what either you or I think of those adds, who created them and why they did.
On a more important note, I personally believe Obamacare is so watered down at this point that it will have much less impact on improving our healthcare system then some people hoped it would. It might even make it worse.
The healthcare industry is a huge profit making venture, whether it is the healthcare insurance providers, doctors, hospitals, drug companies....they are all in it for the money. It is capitalism at it's best and worst. There are literally millions of Americans who have no healthcare insurance. While some of these folks find ways to work the system for medical care, many others simply go without it. The poorest of folks, get free medical care. The rich folks pay through the nose for medical care, either with high premiums or by self-insuring. The folks who are most left out are those in the middle to lower income classes. I happen to believe this is wrong. Others would disagree with me, suggesting we just let those poor suckers get sick and die.

I dont know any person who is for just letting people die, dont let alan grayson fool you.
of those millions without healthcare, millions choose to not have health care. Forcing individuals to pay for something they dont want in health care or in coverage of health care is not right in my opinion either.
people who are truly in need deserve help, if you cant afford it b/c youre single with 2 kids have cable and a smart phone sorry I dont feel bad for you.
The majority of people on govt assistance arent people who have just had a rough life, they are people who have made bad decisions...and yea I dont feel I should be held responsible for their shitty decision making skills.

Under the current system you pay the hospital bills of uninsured people Tony.
-

agreed, it what about obamacare changes that?
those who didnt have insurance will largely be subsidized by those same tax payers who paid for their healthcare in the future.
The premiums HAVE TO INCREASE as the insured population is less healthy.
There will still be millions without health insurance and the penaltys arent even a fraction of the premiums they would pay.

do I have numbers of the people who will get coverage from obamacare?
does that negate all the harm its doing?
you see ive seen you use this idiocy already, the ends DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS!!!
only in the mind of a liberal is it ok to fuck up 90% of the populations shit for 5%....

post outside of the quotation tard...
I do and I also have the numbers for bush's plan which would have costed less and covered more people...
it was in a thread I started after idiots like you parroted the libtard talking point the republicans have no healthcare ideas.
so to you screwing up the majority of peoples healthcare is worth it?
-

I think the reasoning here is that even though the taxpayers who were footing the bill for the healthcare of those who were previously uninsured pre-ACA will still be largely footing the bill for the healthcare of that same (now insured) group in the form of subsidies, the healthcare itself won't consist almost entirely of costly emergency care like it did pre-ACA.
I don't mind telling you that I'm not convinced that this will be the case, though. Other than juice related blood testing, I have to be in serious pain before I'll make time to go to the doctor and I have great healthcare so I think it's possible that a lot of poor folks are just as dumb as me and will neglect preventive health visits and will therefore continue to overuse costly emergency services.

I agree with the first paragraph but when you take into account the rise in premiums that HAS TO HAPPEN due to the onboarding of those sick individuals its a net even at best result. Not only are those ppl who paid for the others healthcare still paying for the others healthcare, they are paying higher premiums for the pleasure of doing so.
I have started going to the doctor annually at least for a check up and use vision and dental more than general health insurance but I completely agree. I think its natural behavior to not go to the doctor unless someone feels something is wrong.

While there is truth in what you post, it is overly simplistic.
