Yes I know a few people that cast for it. I wonder if my gym will be in it. He was a member for a long time.
-
I remember Danny karam working out in Sydney, at Marrickville.

I think is all done ?, would be bad newz/negative publicity shit if Mr.O. character is in ::)
Would be interesting to know who collected A$ 500 000 in Greece for 'Fat Tony's' head from
blue colours, must be someone who is Greek Aussie ?.
Supposedly prize for Arab head is $ 1 mill.
-
I remember Danny from City gym, pretty sure he moved after a run in with the big bloke.

With Russell?
-
With Russell?
Caution gents, blue ones could be reading ;)
-
I think they will feature SS as a bodybuilder/meathead rather than a Mr Olympia contender. I base this on the fact that they were casting guys about 100lb lighter than the great man SS
-
Haha, ah the wonders of polite bogan.
There's nothing quite like the unexpected cbomb - it's pure artistry. Such a powerful weapon against people, not expecting it. The pinched faces as their mind is rocked by the bad word.
Lovely stuff.
-
Just stay off Oxford St.
-
At Mitsos place ;) ?.
Yeah,
he once kept his gun behind the counter, mitsos said "no" mitsos got knocked out.
Danny continued training. The rav4 he was shot in was kept at the panel beaters across the road from the mitsos gym, I got to see it, a reign of bullet holes.
-
With Russell?
Russell, the big bald permabulker, I met him once, friends were having a get together in the city, he had 2 whores or strippers with him..this was around 1999 or 2000, I vaguely remember the "Cave" nightclub in the Star city casino, a lot of those guys would go there then move on to the "Embassy" in double bay.
-
With Russell?
who else he got rid of mick too, grumpy farcker in those days, was a good era and time to train there great atmosphere.;
-

the blue ones were corrupt then.

Strongest junkie non steroid you could ever want to meet.

Pretty sure he was boxing by then once he beat his charges and while he was on bail he lost interest in bodybuilding, one of the strongest guys to train with in Australia would bent over row 4plus plates a side with good form, do the same weight press behind neck, slow milos type reps, it was impressive.
-

So I have heard, his grave is at rookwood cemetery, in the catholic section.
he would frighten the living shit of people especially bouncers from nightclubs.
I don't know why he trained at Marrickville though, he may have lived around there or it was a hangout either way Terry got fucked up.
-

I remember seeing him, I was either still at school or just left, my friends (at the time, there dead or in jail now) knew people like danny and Russell, there was another guy he had long hair, his name was danny too, crazy fucker too, he also was gunned down by his boys.
This was all during the same time Anthony Mundine left the NRL and fought his first bout, and his home was robbed the same night.
The quay west in the Rocks is where these characters would hang out, when I went to visit I did see john woo and tom cruise in the lobby waiting for the lift, tom is fucking short, but good to see a Hollywood icon. They were shooting Mission impossible 2 at the point. the 90's, I fucked loved it, no facebook, no intstagram, no taking selfies, no taking pics of dinner, not even text messages.
-
I didn't know Karen had found a job as a reporter.

Russell was by far one of the strongest people I have ever seen. His press behind necks were talked about everywhere. Fucking big neck too, apparently hit pretty hard.
I was pretty close to Terry back then. He was a good bodybuilder and had a mad following in Sydney. Then he slowly dropped off and I have not seen him at a show in many years.

Probably like "Bike War" where one of top 3 was acted by much much shorter & smaller actor.
-
Just stay off Oxford St.
My 1st gym in Sydney on Oxford is now poofs place, sucks >:(

Could not forget Greekos training at J.J.'s place with T.Labruna & another Italian guy, needle before training then smoko
breaks after every 3-4 sets, now every day around 6am TM seats outside his gym & smokes.
Never understand why he didn't continue after winning Mr.World ?.
Once on Oxford him & 7 other 'greeks' smashed bunch of bouncers.

He got his pro card and did a couple of shows in the USA then just faded away. Always wondered how it all played out. We were tight for a while.

what is Terry up to these days?
-
Mitsos was a massive pothead besides smoking cigarettes.
Any of you guys ever see Adrian Chronis train legs in the mid 90's? That was the most impressive thing I ever saw in a gym.

I remember Chronis but never saw him train. That whole Sydney scene was crazy back then.
-
I trained with Adrian a few times on my visits to Sydney, not the best physique but was immensely strong, great time to train in city gym back then, lots of real good aussie physiques, Scionti Townsend Chronis, Big Alex,OGrady,Duca and up and coming Luke wood and many others and how can we forget the Grundy show, thats where it all started, Guy was a real character thats for sure, city gym Sydney in the 90s was great.
-
There were some awesome gyms in sydney back then.
I knew Adrian more from Terilli's gym in Newtown. That was an awesome gym from 1993-1998.
John was such a strange dude though. His wife would walk around saying "he's fucked in the head" all the time.
Terilli was amazing though. In 1994 he was way out of shape and then he trained for about 4 months and won the NABBA pro universe like it was nothing.
-
didnt Mick Scionti make a comeback in 2007?
did some Perth pro qualifier show run my Mick o mara in 2007, got 2nd behind a natural mr O from bali?

There was always a rivalry between John and Terry.
They would run into each other in night clubs and have posedowns in the bathrooms, each group with their own posse clambering to cheer on their favorite. A nice blend of Greeks, Italians and Lebs.
John has always been a strange cat.
-
Tony,
Looks like Mitsos still has his gym just changed the name.

Terilli stole 1 copy of Muscle Elegance mag from me >:(
Con Dimitriu too, his Kent St dancing gym ::) oh god .

P.B.B.I. contests were good time in Oz's BB history ;D almost weekly contests :)
Anyone remembers PBBI Mr.Universe ?.
Muscle Australia was the best local magz ever :'(
How is Rocco now ?.
-
I started buying mags in early 1982 when I was 12 or so. I saw Frank Zane on the TV show Hart to Hart and got the bug. Muscle Australia mag was awesome way better than the crappy muscle and fitness Paul Graham put out.
Didn't Rocco go broke when the gov changed some rule regarding supplements and he was left with a warehouse full of product he couldn't sell? That was the official reason anyway.
Sonny Schmidt went from a middleweight intermediate to heavyweight Mr Australia in one year I remember.
-
Chris Dean was an awesome bodybuilder from that era too.
-
Chris Dean was an awesome bodybuilder from that era too.
O yes, never ending PBBI duels Chris vs Milton Hadjigeorgiu (& those tattoos ::))
Richard Jonker was good & so close to Ifbb Mr.Universe title.
Steve Kandarakis upper body was Mr.Universe class , but his legs :P
-
Yeah Steve K had a great upper body but no legs?....... no calves for sure! Trained at his gym in Cabramatta - surprisingly called "Steve's Gym'. Good equipment and atmosphere. His brother Tony trained there a bit too.
-
My training partner arranged for me to stay with Tony my first time competing in Sydney, I trained with both him and Russel at city gym , 3 years later Big Tonys been dumbelled to death in jail, Russ been shot survived and was up on murder, you have to laugh when you see the soft cocks in the gym bodybuilding scene these days. The 90s were crazy in Sydney.
-

I trained legs with him spewed twice, he was an animal, never seen anyone leg press as much as him and on Bills old shitty leg press, not the icarian cybex luxury machines of today.
-
the 90's was the best time in Sydney, shootings, characters like danny karam, awesome club scene, there was no filter, someone like you or did not.
I missed the 90's leather pants and all.

She was promoting that shit "Church of Scientology" on Park & Elizabeth streets corner for years
I think until 2000 (??).That was after Cross job.
Yes she was good, Carol Graham hated her so much.
Where is she now, ???.
At North Bondi beach she use to arm wrestle guy's, it was so hilarious.
Helmut Crncich probably still debates on Sundays at the NSW Gallery.

Unfortunately some of mentioned names a not with us anymore.
I remember meeting big Jurky Savolainen at his 1st Australian PBBI contest
& small Joe Pavlich (Mr.Australia short) imitating him on Dallas Brooks Hall stage.
He was 1 giant Viking & adored hot climate, I was told that he was killed in
car accident 7 years ago while visiting Sweden.
Mr.Australia,Mr.Hawaii International RIP

remember Riva, Byblos and DCM's...

Rocco is still aroound, we did a special on him on Muscle TV this year.
As for Sonny, I remember that like yesterday. He was 79kg in the Mr Melbourne show and walked out 16 weeks later at 96kg and won the Australia.
He did his first cycle put on 17kg (37lb) of contest weight in 16 weeks and it only cost him $150. When he walked out that night the place went nuts, he was very popular and Rocco's shows were epic.
-
I just watched it on YouTube. Never heard him talk before was surprised how ocker he is.
-
Rocco is why (one of the reasons) TD's standards for his shows are so high.
-
Rocco is why (one of the reasons) TD's standards for his shows are so high.
Not really mate, I know what you are trying to say, but my standards are high for a number of reasons, mostly because that is what I expect of myself.
I actually competed in Rocco's shows when I was very young. What he did well, was packed his shows out and made stars out of people.
His magazine was good for the time and he used that, the shows and his gym in synergy as a well oiled machine.
I learned a lot from watching him and others along the way and always seeing what I could do bigger and better.
Don't know that he had high standards but I do know that he was a smart bloke and a good promoter.
-
used to read this in 90'
Adrian and the other guy, forgot his name, he was a powelifter I believe, always pissing at each other. Some funny shit.
-
Kinsellas was good spot in the early nineties
yes before poofs, now is co-own by john singleton (surprise, surprise)

Where is Roccos PBBI buddy Frank Burwash !.
-
Where is Roccos PBBI buddy Frank Burwash !.
He died a few years back. Probably mid to late 90s. I used to call him Carwash.
He taught me a lot about the industry in early 90s.
Frank was on the road selling Rocco's supplements and would call in and see me in my old gym in the country. (Bendigo)
He always had time for me and would suggest ways to make money and keep the doors open. He taught me more about the gym industry than anyone back then.
I liked him a lot, real gentleman.
-
:'( :'( :'( & good MC on PBBI contests.
-
Adrian Chronis passed away this week age 49.
Not the best genetics for bbing but he was one of the hardest trainers in Sydney back in the 90's and won the Australasians in 91 I think.
Guy trained like an animal.
-
Very sad to hear about Adrian, I have trained all around the world and in the 90s where training actually meant something to body builders, he trained as hard as anyone I've ever seen anywhere, RIP
-
Great thread & Great stories.
Keep them going.
A Refreshing change on Getbig.
Well done the Aussie lads.
