bachmann has everything a politician needs to be national level. She should be veep on a ticket, no doubt.
She just has taken such far-right positions... to the point of "I gotta out-right everyone on the right!"
As a result.... unbelievably... she took it so far she couldn't win her own district again. It's great for being a TV voice. But seeing her on CNN tells me FOX didn't pick her up.

The difference, IMO, is that liberals, i mean EXTREME liberals, will always be 30% of the population.
I don't konw that 30% of the country are EXTREME conservative. Maybe 10 or 15%. But in a group of ten people, I know 3 of them are going to be bedwetting liberals. I don't know that 3 of them are going to be strong, self-reliant conservatives. :(

Maybe I just don't understand the point of your question but Sanders was a 4-term city mayor, then taught political science at Harvard's Kennedy School of Gov't, then was elected to the the House of Representatives for 16 years and has now been a Senator for 8 years.
You can disagree with his politics all ya want (he's a self-avowed socialist so many will) but he's known to be a very straight shooter, especially compared to someone like Bachmann who, besides having said some patently crazy things, rarely answers a question directly.
For my money, Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are the 2 most sensible and compelling voices on the left these days.

The answer is no - raising the minimum wage doesn't do jack shit for people out of work but make it even harder for employers to hire people.

You of all people should know that there are tens of thousands of complete morons who also happen to be lawyers and I don't recall you holding government employees in high regard in the past.

give her a little bit of credit for this amazing accomplishment from this prestigious institution

Bernie has always impressed me -- I used to listen to him once a week on some liberal radio show during my commute back in CA and, once I got past thinking that anyone talking with that affected-sounding jewish accent had to be fucking around, could not help but admire his plain-spoken intelligence and sincerity when discussing policy. Even when I didn't agree with him, I could understand where he was coming from.
Elizabeth Warren is also very well spoken, especially about economic and financial issues and I'm surprised the Ron Paul folks aren't fans of hers. I think she'd whip Hillary's ass in a presidential debate but she doesn't seem to want to run. Oh well.

Most of our congress people studied law, a few are doctors, but most lawyers. That's why none of them have a single bit of sense on how to fix the economy or create jobs.

Yes! The Thom Hartmann Show was a great listen. Man, it was great fun to listen to him just tear up the libertarians dumb enough to debate him on his show.
