During the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin warned that if Senator Barack Obama were elected president, his "indecision" and "moral equivalence" may encourage Russia's Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.
Palin said then:
After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next.
For those comments, she was mocked by the high-brow Foreign Policy magazine and its editor Blake Hounshell, who now is one of the editors of Politico magazine.
In light of recent events in Ukraine and concerns that Russia is getting its troops ready to cross the border into the neighboring nation, nobody seems to be laughing at or dismissing those comments now.
Hounshell wrote then that Palin's comments were "strange" and "this is an extremely far-fetched scenario."
"And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine's pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don't see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel," Hounshell dismissively wrote.
Palin made her remarks on the stump after Obama's running mate Joe Biden warned Obama supporters to "gird your loins" if Obama is elected because international leaders may test or try to take advantage of him.

She's a pundit. Her job is to frequently make predictions and guesses and "call for" things.
I can list a dozen things she got wrong. I can list a dozen things she "called for" that never happened. I can go on and on about how "the person who knows more about energy than anyone else in the country" was duped into believing man caused climate change.
But she's a pundit. Her job is to make predictions and guesses all day long. you can't hate on a pundit cause he/she is wrong - they HAVE to make predictions all the time. It's what pundits do. It's what politicians do too. It's like the NFL hosts making predicitons on the games. nobody mocks them when they get it wrong. But nobody feels the need to throw them a parade when they get the pick correct.
The fact that someone has to write an article - to gloat because something Palin said 6 years ago ended up being accurate - is pretty sad by itself. Ted Cruz gets shit right every day. I don't see a need to gloat in 2020 because he was right this year - I hope in 2020 he's gearing up for re-election to the White House, and we dont have to go back 6 years to give him props for something.
Ugh, I don't know why repubs feel the need to continually tie themselves to palin. There are FAR better repubs out there which represent the party in a better light. To brag because "hey, she got one right!"... I dunno... I guess that's why a half-wit illegal kenyan like Obama was able to win the white house twice... as long as repubs tie their cart to palin, and ignore actual conservatives like ron paul, bachman, etc, we'll keep on seeing Dems win white houses and Repubs win predictions from 6 years ago.

The title "And to think the left made fun of her" implies that those jokes were unfounded, they were not, she was the orchestrator of the whole comedy. Secondly, that a prediction that while it may be good, isn't all that great when in context. Russia was likely to invade Ukraine due to the politicaly climate, not invade, but the sway of the Russians is strong in the former state. that is besides the point, the crux is that even if she is correct is says nothing about the left making fun or her, the left at all (coach is nuts) or that it has any bearing on anything in life. This in no way vindicates her and if coach thinks that this does somehow vindicate her self induced cocksack of a life.
She is a liar but in the worst way, she is also stupid. This creates lies that are easily dismissed, patently false or of such a gradious nature that due to the paucity of the correlation can be dismissed.
So there is no arguments in reality, she was right, great, she is an idiot, and everyone was right and still is right to mock her. I think she should be mocked and ridiculed until she shuts the fuck up. She is the worst type of person, a leach that preys on fears and has no underpinning virtues besides hedonistic tendencies.

We all get things wrong... but it's like she goes a way to be over the top with these odd, quirkly comments that really appeal to the voters that use emotion & hormones to vote, rather than logic or facts. The left does it too, I'm not making this dem/repub. Most repubs at that level are competent and skilled and know their stuff. She just isn't nearly as prepared as cruz, rand, jeb, perry, or others. The starting point for my estimation of Sarah Palin’s IQ is her college career. The fact that she graduated from a four year college at all indicates her IQ is above average (above 100). But her college history seems indicative of someone who was barely able to graduate. It seems as if she couldn’t hack majoring at business at a college in Hawii, and then transferred to community colleges, and finally was able to transfer back to an easy four year college, the University of Idaho, where she graduated with an easy major, journalism. She definitely does not have the college career of someone whose IQ is one standard deviation or more above the mean (115 or higher). Thus her IQ is likely somewhere between 100 and 115. Perhaps I was being generous in the previous post where I estimated 110. It could be as little as 100. A person with an IQ of 100 can still graduate from a four year college if she chooses an easy major and attends a non-challenging school such as the University of Idaho.
Now we must look at evidence of smartness and evidence of dumbness. Evidence of smartness first:
(1) Her sister says she is smart. In her biography, the sister says she was a bookworm as a kid, and on a recent interview on CNN, the sister said Sarah is very smart.
It’s not unheard of for siblings to help each other out, so this doesn’t really prove much. I would also not put much stock in the opinions of people in Wasilla where she was mayor. The average IQ of Wasilla seems to be about 95, and in the land of the blind the one-eyed woman is queen.
(2) She seemed competent talking about oil drilling on a Larry Kudlow interview that I watched.
What IQ does one need to speak competently about one topic? I think the 110 number would be high enough.
(3) She got elected governor of Alaska.
Surely this must demonstrate something? On the other hand, it seems to me like some freak occurrence, and maybe demonstrates the low IQ of Alaska voters rather than the high IQ of Sarah. To what extent is public speaking correlated IQ? The correlation may not be that high. There are lots of high IQ people who are abysmal public speakers, so public speaking is not a highly g-loaded task. Normally, people with IQs below 115 don’t have the opportunity to do much public speaking because they don’t have much to say. But my guess is that a person with a propensity for public speaking with an IQ of 100 can sound a lot smarter than her IQ if there is a smart person available to put words in her mouth.

Evidence of dumbness:
(1) She majored in journalism but there’s no evidence that she ever wrote anything.
Writing is a highly g-loaded task, so the lack of anything that she’s written could indicate her inability to write at a competent level.
(2) She had to hire an administrator to run the “city” of Wasilla.
Indicates she wasn’t smart enough to run the city herself?
(3) Interest in evangelical Christianity.
People who believe in the literal word of the Bible and get into evangelical Christianity are, on average, less intelligent than mainline Protestants.
(4) No intellectual hobbies.
Smart people have intellectual hobbies. Sarah likes to hunt moose.

I find this to be the most compelling indicator that Sarah’s IQ isn’t much higher than the minimum required to graduate from the University of Idaho. Social class is highly correlated with IQ. This correlation is much higher than the correlation between income and IQ or between income and class.
Both of Sarah’s parents are school teachers, the quintessential middle class jobs, but Sarah has clearly sunk to prole. Her husband hasn’t graduated from college, Track is not going to college, and Bristol gives no indication of being college-bound. Track getting arrested, and Bristol getting pregnant at 17 are markers of being prole rather than middle class.
Sinking in class below one’s parents tends to indicate having a lower IQ than one’s parents, which is why I have a hard time believing that Sarah’s IQ is any higher than 110.

I took the Palin route when it came to college, also. I went to 2 community colleges (one for just a semester) and another univ for my BS and MBA, and some tech trade school too (A+, Net+, CCNA stuff)... I've been everywhere, man :) So I don't shit on palin for that...
I do, however, dislike her trashing getting an education. I would hope most kids don't look at that and say educations are for the elite, etc.

The National Enquirer grabbed some details from the upcoming Joe McGinniss Sarah Palin book, and this chunk is too delightful not to share with you immediately. Apparently Palin had a fling with former Heat/Hornet/Laker Glen Rice while he was in college and while she was a sports reporter in Alaska, all the way back in 1987. Rice confirms it in the book.

In the book, which will be published on September 20th, McGinniss claims Sarah had a steamy interracial hookup with basketball stud Glen Rice less than a year before she eloped with her husband Todd.
Sarah hooked up with the NBA great, then a 6-foot-8 junior at the University of Michigan when he was playing in a college basketball tournament in Alaska in 1987, the book says. At the time, Sarah, just out of college, was working as a sports reporter for the Anchorage TV station KTUU.
A publishing source told The ENQUIRER that McGinniss claims Sarah had a "fetish" for black men at the time and he quotes a friend as saying Sarah had "hauled (Rice's) ass down."

Palin was the shining star of the republican party in 2008. Mccain was old, he lost, and as the VP pick and the cheerleader of the party, she was no doubt a major frontrunner in 2012. All she had to do was keep kicking ass as governor, keep fundraising, keep cheering on the 2010 race, etc.
unfortunately, she quickly left her governor job, took a job and FOX, and spent the next year attaching herself to everything tea party (even when it violated many of her previous positions). instead of doing selected speeches and just kicking ass as Gov, she decided to stand in front of turkeys being butchered, she decided to invent words like refudiate.... She just kept on acting the fool until the GOP practically disowned her.
The left doesn't like her. But except for a small few, the RIGHT has disowned her too. Can't blame the "libs" when FOX news disses her. She very quickly showed she's all abuot being an entertainer, which is cool.... it's her true calling... she went to school for journalism... I bet she LOVED working at FOX.
SO as long as she stays out of politics, I dont have a beef with her. She WILL hand any election she enters, to the Dems. No doubt about that. Repubs seem to agree too... why they keep anyone with her kinda starpower on the sidelines...
