Not sure really how to feel about it since the guy making the video is in fact exploiting the homeless man for more than 1000 dollars in his pocket which he will get view adsense through google. It would have been better to just do it and not tell anyone.
Pretty shitty in my opinion overall.

The video made it to CNN. He's already started a fundraiser for the gentleman with a goal of $15k. Last time they showed it, they were half way there. In addition, you can't put numbers on the emotional feelings people will feel from viewing this. All in all worth it.

Worth it if you enjoy being taken for a ride. Why would it take a video of this ilk to all of a sudden to start helping out this black guy? What is different?

The ultimate act of kindness would be to put this "gentlemen" out of his misery.
Giving "gentlemen" like that $1000 will 9 times out of 10 put them out of their misery.
Guy will likely overdose on heroin or choke to the death on his week long bum wine binge induced vomit.

He did this to make money, more than the 1000 dollars. Exploitation of the homeless by Youtubers is an easy way to make a lot of money on Youtube and is quite popular. Look it up.

Buy him food.
Problem is he will 9 times out of 10 get mad if you offer to buy him food instead of give him money.

'Act of kindness' would be simply to give the guy $1000 and keep your camera in your pocket.

the fact he offered to give some of it back shows the nicer side of human nature

The real kicker is when 4chan finds out the guys not homeless, and they were all in it for the money. Store owner, fake homeless guy, the youtube channel owner. You want to get rich, tug on peoples emotions. The three of them are probably laughing all the way to the bank right now. :D

Yes from that angle, it's a great vid. Especially when the guy wants to share some back etc very touching
But you can't help but be cynical about these kids on youtube, they know exactly what they're doing and there is a reason why they can afford to roam around all day playing 'pranks' ;)
