E not acid bro

Gotta be making serious bank to afford that. The maintenance and upkeep figures for a home like that is very high... not to mention the Cali real estate taxes.
-
waste of fucking money ::)
-
A cold house without soul. Looks like a museum.
hate modern....blah

That is nothing compared to Marcel's house. He even has a guest house for when Vissy and Goodrum visits him.
-
Nice first house. He's only 23 and already reached the top of the industry.
-
Awesome house...Only place to go now is Big Down Hill...
-
He will end up broke, all mortgaged to the hilt.
-
Should've just got a condo. Avicii is mainstream edm, true fans of the music hate his radio crap. And if anyone knows like I do edm will only be mainstream for another 2 months and even now it's slowing down..
-
Everytime Levels, Hey Brother or Wake me up is played on Radio or TV this guy sees cash. And those are GLOBAL hits, they are played thousands of times all over the globe - EVERYDAY SINGLE DAY.
On top of that this guy has upt to 300 gigs per year, cashing 6 fig per hour. Won't see his cool house too often, but that MoFo is Rollin in cash.
-
lol
g4p for sure

My only issue is, who the fuck is Avicii? Am I supposed to know? Some italian soccer player?

The view and location alone are worth 9 million.

Ive never heard of him.
DAmn, how does a DJ make 20 million in one year? :o :o

They probably open a bank account and then set appointments. Then they deposit the checks in the bank account. They probably also have a debit card they can use at ATMs and for online purchases.

#1 DJ in the world
Ah here now. Not the best, just very popular.
Fade into darkness is his best work. Although it used to be called Penguin before vocals added. Gets good around 1 min mark.
Fair play to him, before dance was big in USA these guys made good money but not Hollywood money. I remember Fat Boy Slim made £10k/gig in early 2000s and he was top draw. $20million is $400k/week

haha, funny!
I meant that he must be getting booked for some high end parties to make that kind of cash.

Oh brother

I`m hoping he will come to the Chuck E. Cheese soon. I would love to dance with him. I would put on some dancing shoes and dance all night. Dancing and Prancing. Maybe I will get Galeniko to mail me a shirt and dancing shoes. I can`t wait to prance around.

They produce music from scratch, nada goes to a songwriter, agent, anything. No idea what they make from festivals or downloads but 183m views on his video levels guessing he made bank from that alone.
There's prob 1000 others like him out there who haven't had a hit. As a result no gigs, no festivals just hope,

What does he bench?

Yeah I bet it would be really cheap to lease that house. It said he bought it.

Lol @ DJ's.
Most overrated musicians players of other peoples music, like, ever.
-
I googled that "Hey Brother" song... Avicii kept coming up, but I kept searching cause I figured it was a country artist. ;D
-
He will end up broke, all mortgaged to the hilt.
yeah, probably. music tastes come and go. A guy is a lawyer, you know he'll probably be steady earning for 30 years if he keeps his nose clean. In the entertainment industry... a lot tougher to count on being #1 in an industry for 30 years.
-
Horrible music, but a great house.
-
what's his stack?

Natural man juice

hey you hater fuck, this is the real music right?

Avicii is a Swede? How fucking unique... "Hey Brother" is a dance song by Swedish DJ and producer Avicii from his debut studio album, True (2013). It features uncredited vocals from American bluegrass singer Dan Tyminski, and was written by Avicii, Ash Pournouri, Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare. The song was solicited to Australian radio on 9 October 2013 as a promotional single from True.[2][3] It was released as the album's third single on 28 October 2013 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.[4]
Very cool patriotic American video too.

Swedes have the most fascinating (yet fairly irritating in some ways) culture.

Avicci worked pretty fucking hard for that money, anyboody who has been a DJ or a club promoter knows what kind of lifestyle you have to live to be a good DJ, alot of travelling, drugs,no sleep, dealing with E-tards all the time. very hard industry. avicci will be fucking tired for years when he settle down. hell he might gas out in just a year or two. It's just a shitty lifestyl being one of the worlds best DJ's. Rave/Party secenes all night get sickening! hard to stay clean from drugs. I bet avicci barely slept all of last year. he will burn out soon. he won;t own that house for long.

Stupidest post on getbig ever,.
A DJs life is a fucking piece of piss, they dont even play records anymore, at least that required some skill to pull off.
ANYONE can DJ these days, literally anyone.
Its all on PC the tunes mix themselves with beat counters and all kinds of technology.
Fucking hell I know a few DJs from way back who still do it, they used to carry around boxes of records , now they turn up with a laptop and even play pre-mixed sets.
Wake the fuck up, that post of yours is an insult to people who put in a days work anywhere.
-
Avicii is also not his only personae, he has hits under different alias names. Tim Berg = Avicii

And lets be honest, that's the fucking best song ever created. Simply Unbeatable. I don't know how the guy does that, but the song was THE shit coming out, then it got boring after a year or so for a few months and now it starts getting cool again. Listen to it again all the time these days like it just came out ;D

That track left me kinda cold. Same ramp beat trance stuff they've been doing for 20 years. I still can't believe Darude got away with it in his day, never mind guys now. Seemed like D&B electronica would have to evolve into polyrhythm but commercially successful stuff all seems to be as rhythmically rigid as rock & roll, with Paul's Boutique samples and wub sound effects to distract you from it being just breakbeat 1-2-3-4. Kraftwerk did it just as well. :-\ Where's the new?

Good observation. I believe that the reason is simple. Most people have 'child brains', so they enjoy a trip to Disneyland or Las Vegas, watch 'real life' shit on TV, appreciate lame jokes, have 'coffee talks', never read a serious book, etc..., etc... and they listen to simplistic/monotone beats.

interesting... dont usually hear people talk about polyrythms outside of when I was playing jazz and to a lesser extent a couple of the metal/death metal drummers I played with.

I looked at properties on the HOllywood Hills back in 2010 and this is my dream home.
Perfect on all counts. Dream come true.

Absolutely. But like I said b4, he plays ~300 gigs per year, so he won't be able to enjoy his home very often.

Always makes me furrow my brow to follow hardcore stuff, and I confess I don't necessarily dig it but it's never dull, and I figured there's no way music would stay as boring and formulaic as 50's rock, especially with the reduction to rhythmic examination that D&B seemed to concern itself with. I'm surprised it settled into a boom-boom groove for so long without the world saying enough already.
Damned if I can remember the pre-madrigal dude who was big into it. I heard some brain-bending pieces from Europe in a lecture series once. I like bop a lot too, but Coltrane, for ex, takes all my concentration. Some of it I just can't follow.
-
Still takes everything I've got, and then some.

Well the obvious solution to this is to become his b/f so you can live there while he travels.
-

Avicii? lol
Yeah... some of that stuff has SO much going on at once that it becomes almost chaotic. Whats really cool is when you get former Jazz drummers playing in melodic metal bands... My buddy (drummer) and I grew up playing Jazz in HS and I turned to guitar after I graduated, and some of the rythms that dude could bang out with his set was absolutley insane.. especially when coupled with his pounding, brutally fast double bass and jazz-ish inspired kit work on top of it... It's hard to explain but it was an extremely original, awesome sound.
BTW, this gets pretty crazy very quickly.

Not true as Avicii is Swedish. All you have to do is press play and let the sheeple dance...
We're a nation of wankers listening to crap music, like Avicii, and we're taking the hipster lifestyle to new hights.
Beard transplants and growing oak trees in your living room are the latests fads right now. Facebook and Instagram is as important as water and soil when it comes to cultivating your tree btw.
It's fuckin' retarded here and this type of music is the theme to our demise.

Actually I don't like his mainstream stuff. His "mainstream hits" are a completely different genre than what he did when he was underground and completely unknown basically. "Levels" was his masterpiece tough, too bad when u set a standard at the age of 20 u won't be able to ever top again lol

I think Americans are completely unaware of that culture. I just read how Tomorrowland has grown: 2005 when it started there were around 10.000 people. In 2014 the 360.000 availiable tickets were sold out within hours, and there's a waiting list of 2 million people. Completely insane, must be reptilians or smth like that, those guys will rule the world in a couple of years.

I love this Bedrock song as well. When trainspotting came out I listened to this tune ten times a day. I still haven't seen the movie but I know this song well. It's stellar and was ahead of it's time IMO.

his genre is called electro.
not be be confused w electronic music which encapsulates all matter of the genre.
electronic music has many differing types of styles of which electro is just one.
I can't even begin to name them all- trance tribal house tech house techno deep house dubstep electro on and on. just click on the electronica in your iTunes radio and you'll see literally 100's of stations.
each has it's own sound and characteristics that identifies it.
it's too bad too cause a lot of people will hear electro and say 'this shit sucks' and never find a genre that they might really like. I hate electro. it's electro is music for people w ADD.
I love deep house. haunting vocAls deep baselines it's makes you feel something- it illicits emotion.

It's a good tune - not the best by far. In fact, it's quite "poppy" and mainstream compared to where this scene started out.
This tune is pretty much a toned down version of No Good by prodigy. Really just made more mainstream - up the synths, drop the hard drumline, keep the uplifting hook.
I was raving in the early 90's in the UK - This sort of tune was typical fare in say 94-95. It's not unlike a lot of the stuff that was coming out on Perfecto Flouro back then.
I remember Y2K - some spotty youth telling me he'd been raving for 10 years. I asked how old he was - turned out he was 18. Basically a guy late to the scene knowing it was past it's glory and trying to somehow link himself to the early days.
So now it's 2014 and how has the scene changed? Well it hasn't really. It's just a rehash. This tune is a rehash.
So really, youth of today - how about you get your own fucking genre? Every other decade did it. Did we really peak creatively in the 90's such that you can't actually move music on?
I am actually embarrassed for the youth of today having to borrow a 25 year old 'scene'.
-

Exactly - golden times. In fact really Golden if you went to Stoke.
Renaissance do's were great - I remember one in a stately home in York.
Like I say - everything now is borrowed from the 90's and early 00's.
-
if he plays one 1hr set per weekend, that's $312k per year from playing events alone, and that's probably low-balling his minute-rate at $1000/min.
not to mention royalties from producer credits.
$20mil this year, another $15-20mil next year.. plus interest/dividends on investments. he should be set for life.
I don't see how he's gonna make much profit on that place after spending $15.5 mil.. wonder what the mortgage is on $15.5 mil. his monthly expenses including insurance, property tax, maintenance, ect have got to be near 2million/year.

6figures per hour?
i never even hear of the guy.
6figures what place pays this?

Summersplash, X-Jam (those are the "Spring Breaks" of Europe), Tomorrowland (biggest music festival on planet earth, 360.000 people this year - sold out within 1 hour).
Guetta or Tiesto get up to 250.000 per gig, and Avicii is in their league now too.
I mean look at the crowds they play, that's simply unbelieveable:
-
Stupidest post on getbig ever,.
Wake the fuck up, that post of yours is an insult to people who put in a days work anywhere.
yah this amici shouldnt be labeled as dj, hes more like justing bieber, the music is so shit its about the same.
a dj, my personal understanding, would be carl cox, yeah good idea, someone tell carl cox that amici is the number 1 dj in the world and see what he says.

im not saying his commercial hits dont make him much money, but the dj gigs, not sure at all.

I am actually embarrassed for the youth of today having to borrow a 25 year old 'scene'.
it did. I met some young kids not too long ago and asked them what kind of music is popular with their generation, and ir was all late 90s early 2000s hard rock, older grunge, techno, and modern pop..so basically what I gathered is they were listening to the same shit I graduated with a decade ago and thought they were so fucking cool and badass listening to Linkin Park songs that were lame as fuck in 1999, let alone 2014.

Don't talk wet.
Digging up roads for a living is hard work. Playing records is so far from it.
So easy, anybody can be like this guy and make millions from doing it
-

Yeah, you heared the experts on here. Anyone can rock a croud of 200.000 people who wet their pants because of your music, produce hits which are played all over the globe every single day thousands of times and make 20 million dollars+ per year and move into a crib like in the first post. ;D

And we idiots still get up in the morning and go to work, this looks like so much more fun

they can. Its purely luck. Its not like3 these guys have any musical talent - they just use computers to mix other people music together. So difficult.
maybe if he was actually playing the drums, playing the keyboard lines, actually CREATING the music hes piecing together, id agree that ut takes talent
right now all it rakes for him is an ear for a catchy hook, a forumla, and predone dumb, synth, and bass lines to mix together.
wooooo

I PLAY music, create it... I play Guitar, Bass, Trumpet, Trombone, little bit of Sax and dabbled with drums.... ive played everything from classical, to jazz, to metal.
The dude is not a musician, and there is 500 guys just like him in every ciTy. Becoming a popular DJ isnt about talent, its about being lucky. ... being in the right place at the right time, knowing the right people, and being consistent.
telling me to.prove it is like me telling you to prove that you can win the lottery. Of course you can, but the odds are astronomically against you.
if you know how to run a computer, run some editing software, and arent a complete tone deaf idiot, you too can make Dance music.
Now im not saying they all are like that... but the tune on display in this thread is a good example of no talent.
-
All that shit sounds the same to me
Its just club party drug music
-
"I guess I think like deep inside, I know that it's like, it's a different kind of performing, it's not really... You're not performing like a guitar player or a singer is performing, you know what I mean? So it's weird to be in the same type setup as one of those. 'Cause I'm not really doing much, you know, like technically it's not that hard"
-Avicii
i hate those retards whose every second word is "like"!!!!!!!

Cool in many ways but if I had that type of money I would never choose this type of house. Too open, too much glass, like sitting in a store window I imagine. Just not aesthetically pleasing to me.

That IS talent. Not everybody can pull that off. Yes a good amount of it is luck...but just because you don't care for someone's creations doesn't mean they're garbage. Anybody can cook, too, but that doesn't make them a celebrity chef.
Anybody can learn an instrument. Doesn't make them a musician.

DJs don't create. They play other people's creations.
They have an ear for what moves a crowd. It is a skill for sure - but you'd be naive to think that the most skilled DJ rose to the top.
The fact that you see the ability to play other people's music pleasingly as a talent says more about "generation fuck all" than anything
-
all that money and still small
Yes, that's a damn shame!
He could hire a hot nurse to inject him with the finest pharmaceuticals, a sous chef for his 8 quality meals per day, Ronaldo Colemanesq to train him like an animal and the finest Thai hoes for deep tissue massages and countless happy endings.

wat
learning an instrument absolutley makes one a musician. Doesnt make one a GOOD musician, but learning to play an instrument actually requires one to learn music, theory, technique, timing, etc, etc... having grown up playing music and around recording studios, learning to plqy an instrument (even other peoples music) requires one to learn a tremendous amount of material, and dedication.
You can sit down and cut and splice music on a PC instantly, with no knowledge of music other than your ear. Trust me, ive seen it done. A lot. One of our friends decided to be a DJ because he couldn't lear n an instrument and couldn't learn theory.
DJs are more computer software guys that listen to music than they are musicians.
its definitley a skill, but please dont compare it to actually learning how to play an instrument and create music from scratch.

Calvin Harris is the highest paid DJ at the moment. He has a residency at Hakkasan nightclub in Las Vegas...
He get's between 200,000-300,000 per performance there.
He has a 2 year contract to play over 70 shows each year at Hakkasan & MGM's day party venue Wet Republic
Besides playing at every top festival & club around the world every weekend.
Dude is killing it...

HOLY FUCK THIS.
Nobody here truly knows how hard these DJ's work and the amount of time they put into their craft.
If you listen to all of Avicii's stuff you will see he IS a CLEAR step above the rest.
I laugh at all the guys on here that say being an actor is so easy or being a dj is so easy it's just luck blah blah blah. Obviously luck plays a role but talent is talent and these DJ's traveling working 18 hours each day perfecting their art is much more than luck.
-
Paris Hilton is now a dj in vegas
So was jay Cutler for a short time
That about sums it up
Dj ::)

a dj with 15 milion house- generation nothingess at his best

not a chance, not even compared to other electonica/techno ive heard. Its extremely simplistic, which is fine, and it has its place... but it strikes me as 'pop' techno for simple minds to zone out and dance too.

There's good and there's mainstream.
Avicii is the "Spice Girls" of the rave scene. The "Boyzone" of techno. The "Britney Spears" of House.
In short - Oakenfold he ain't.

You have to realize what you are saying is only your opinion.
People involved in this type of music would hugely disagree.....they see it as so much more and I see where they are coming from.
I find nothing about it simplistic.
Yes anyone can make sounds on a computer but if you look at some of the best techno songs like
Levels - Avicii
Rockin - Moe Aly
Crunk - Showtek
To me these sound incredible and complex. Nothing simple about them.

Ah. Exactly what I felt listening to this. Ive heard some extremely deep and engaging electronica/techno/whatever the fuck, and this aint it. Hell, the guy is quoted above as saying hes not a musician. Which makes me lol at the fanboys crying about the people that arent outting him on a pedestal.

It's a talent, that's true, but I won't call it a job, since he's prob passionate about DJing. There are plenty of talented musicians/DJs that don't get paid at all. Is that a reason for them to quit? No, because they love it. These things are way different with a normal job, even when you're loaded.

It's exactly my opinion, yes. And I do find certain electronic music deep and complex. So far, from what I've heard, his is NOT one. No one is saying that it's not a learned skill, it is. But it =/= musicianship.
-
U know the difference between DJ and producer? If not google it. Avicii is a producer. Huge difference.
Sounds more like a sampler , must payout Millions in royalty fees to the artist he samples from

All I want to do is dance and prance around. I want to put this on as loud as possible and prance for hours. I could prance in front of the hottest males all day long with these songs. Dancing and Prancing, Dancing and Prancing.
-
I am going to prance around town listening to Avicci. Hopefully Europeans will join me in prancing around. Dancing and Prancing.

agreed. you could go a step further and say the Carl is the best dj in the world and not many could argue you.
most people who hate electronic music just havent heard all the types that are out there.
if you hate electronic music take 6 minutes and listen to this track in its entirety dont ffw'd it- you might be tempted in the first 1:30. listen to the words, and what the song is about.
i'd have to say its one of the best deep house tracks ever. it doesnt scream at you. the vocals are smooth. the basslines crazy deep and the message will resonate for everyone.
electronic music is more than screechy annoying sounds that make no sense.
