No, it's not a 300lbs juiced up to the gills insecure bodybuilder who only feels worthy if he can fit into his XXL t-shirt and feel physically bigger than other males in order to feel adequate, a skewed measure of manliness that couldn't be further from the truth. However, this guy here, had "his shit together", not only did he strive to achieve physical greatness in martial arts, mentally he was a philospher well composed and intelligent with the will and emptional control to over come anger, stress, bigotry, anxiety and mistreatment to become the man he was. RIP Lee.

Julius Ceasar was a warrior. most people know him only as the ruler. he was a warrior and first rate general who had a probable genius iq and a way about himself that caused his troops to die willingly for him in battle as they knew he wouldn't ask anything of them he wouldn't have done himself. not to mentioned he nailed cleopatra when she was 18 and had a kid with her. he hated the political side of life and much preferred the battlefield. he spent 10 years of his life in what is present day Europe fighting the gauls and conquering lands for the good of the Roman Empire. the guy was an all the way alpha. he hunted down roman general Pompey after he escaped the battlefield and chased him into Egypt. when he got to Egypt the Egyptians a met him with pompeys head in a jar. Julius wept for him and the undignified death and took his remains back to Rome and gave him a state funeral despite having met the man in the field of battle in a civil war. that's alpha.
I'd also put Alexander up for nomination as I know his story well but can't get past the fact he had personality shortcomings that I don't find alpha- he was temperamental to the point of being childish. he alienated himself from everyone in his life and towards the end of it had those closest to him killed out of fear for poisoning. the guy was a tactical genius on the field of battle but had far to many child like meltdowns to be considered alpha.

great books. real awesome reads. ya man the guy had less than nothing. he was just a bad man, you really get a feel for him in that series. he was a complex dude. a ruthless killer, unable to connect properly with his own kids but commanded the love and respect of everyone that knew him. driven to not fail. it just was not an option. fuck the mongols in general were just a hard people. eating rancid mutton, living on the plains in yurts, riding up to 100 miles a day on horseback and drinking the blood and milk of their own mounts so they wouldnt have to stop to eat. excellent bowsmen. very scary people.

Plus that has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Those books are labeled as fiction for a reason. They would resemble the modern day 300 movies. Entertaining, but not historically accurate.
There are plenty of books on guys like Caesar, Alexander the Great etc... that are non-fiction, and try to best describe what actually happened through historical evidence.

On August 26, 1967, Major Day was flying F-100F-15-NA, AF Serial No. 56-3954, call sign "Misty 01",[4] on his 26th Fast FAC sortie, directing a flight of F-105 Thunderchiefs in an air strike against a surface-to-air missile (SAM) site north of Thon Cam Son[5] and west of Dong Hoi, 20 mi (32 km) north of the DMZ in North Vietnam. Day was on his 65th mission into North Vietnam and acting as check pilot for Captain Corwin M. "Kipp" Kippenhan, who was upgrading to aircraft commander. 37 mm antiaircraft fire crippled the aircraft, forcing the crew to eject. In the ejection, Day's right arm was broken in three places when he struck the side of the cockpit, and he also received eye and back injuries.
Kippenhan was rescued by a USAF HH-3E, but Day was unable to contact the rescue helicopter by survival radio and was quickly captured by North Vietnamese local militia. On his fifth night, when he was still within 20 mi (32 km) of the DMZ, Day escaped from his initial captors despite his serious injuries. Although stripped of both his boots and flight suit, Day crossed the Demilitarized Zone back into South Vietnam. Within 2 mi (3 km) of the U.S. Marine firebase at Con Thien and after 12–15 days of evading, he was captured again, this time by a Viet Cong patrol that wounded him in the leg and hand with gunfire.
Taken back to his original camp, Day was tortured for escaping, breaking his right arm again. He then was moved to several prison camps near Hanoi, where he was periodically beaten, starved, and tortured. In December 1967, Day shared a cell with Navy Lieutenant Commander and future Senator and presidential candidate John McCain. Air Force Major Norris Overly nursed both back to health, and McCain later devised a makeshift splint of bamboo and rags that helped heal Day's seriously atrophied arm.[6]
On March 14, 1973, Day was released after five years and seven months as a North Vietnamese prisoner. Within three days Day was reunited with his wife, Doris Sorensen Day, and four children at March Air Force Base, California. On March 4, 1976, President Gerald Ford awarded Day the Medal of Honor for his personal bravery while a captive in North Vietnam.
Day had been promoted to Colonel while a prisoner, and decided to remain in the Air Force in hopes of being promoted to Brigadier General. Although initially too weak to resume operational flying, he spent a year in physical rehabilitation and with 13 separate medical waivers, was returned to active flying status. He underwent conversion training to the F-4 Phantom II and was appointed vice commander of the 33rd Tactical Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
