A woman working out at the West Ashley Planet Fitness says she was asked to leave mid-workout Monday night because her "belly was hanging out." The customer, Melissa Mantor, is also 18 weeks pregnant.

Im really tired of everyone talking about Planet Fitness. Cant everyone see its a public gym, but actually desiring to be a private gym for the gay/lesbian beta class out there? So their model is to harass and harangue anyone that doesnt fit in a medium sized t-shirt and perspires while training. Lets accept this and move on.

What's the benefit of working out while pregnant? Okay the first month..... but why bother after that.
Be fat, merry, and have a healthy baby. worry about working out after.

Worst advice ever^^^
If you want a healthy mother and healthy baby, moderate exercise should be a part of your pregnancy.

Then I fully admit to being wrong. What are the benefits then?
Why can't a mother just relax for 9 months?

Because she didn't want to turn into a fat tub of lard, wheezing every time she went up a flight of stairs.
Sound familiar?
The pregnancy, birth and recovery are all easier when you are fit.
As you know, just carrying around all that extra weight tires you out & exercise helps that.
-

A fat momma = a healthy baby. I don't see any issue with a mother to be, taking a 7-8 month break.
Mothers are supposed to gain weight. Deal with it. Lose it after you have a healthy baby.

Nobody is advocating a woman becoming a fat slob while pregnant. At the same time, do we want a third trimester woman on a treadmill?

Dude honestly why are you on a bodybuilding forum. You really have nothing to do with it.
When is the last time you picked up a weight?

When is the last time you picked up a weight?
Lol!!! I pick up weights 4 times a week. It ranges, but can be up to 100 pounds.
I am natural, and drink alcohol regularly. That gives you my shirtless pic.
On a side note: That is the most tiresome comeback ever. Getbig is so much more than bodybuilding.
Ron's website (according to sources) is valued at over 2 million dollars.
Don't change a fucking thing.

Nobody is advocating a woman becoming a fat slob while pregnant. At the same time, do we want a third trimester woman on a treadmill?
Absolutely yes.
We live in a tropical country - very hot & humid.
So 30-45 mins walking on a treadmill when pregnant, in a nice air conditioned gym is the best thing for her.
I'm not even sure why you are arguing this. Maybe you are drunk. Ok - not MAYBE...
But if ever you wanted to paint a big red target on yourself here, it's arguing against things you know fuck all about (pregnancy& women) which are related to fatness (people in glass houses).
Return to the vodka, you are probably out of breath with all this talk of aerobic exercise.

I have, you are just ignoring it.
Last time though.
Being fit going into childbirth makes the birth and recovery easier for mom.
But also, it helps them on a day to day basis. The extra weight is a real pain to carry and being fit help immensly.
Fit pregnant women have less issues during pregnancy also.
As for when a woman should stop, depends on a lot of variables. My wife was good pretty much to the end. Last few weeks are a killer but not so much for a woman that has stayed fit throughout.
Now - ask me again.

You finally gave me proper information. There is no need to argue. You obviously went through it.
Congrats on the baby.

Who the fuck is "we"? And what business is it of yours and your troupe whether she's on a treadmill?
soo..... you are advocating a woman working out while 9 months pregnant?
Really? Whats the point? You have never given me a point yet.
A person can work out (or not, for that matter) at any time they want and for any reason they want. Male or female. Pregnant or not. Fat or skinny. What the fuck business is it of yours and why should anyone justify their actions to you, you sequined scrotum sucking schmuck?

So bouncing up and down on a treadmill (let's say at 9 months prego) is healthy for the baby?
You don't think the kid is bouncing in a water globe?
Where are the scientists? Not the Narcissists.

Obviously Shizzos job at Walmart has allowed him to become an expert in the medical field. So its quite apparent he knows everything about labor. Lifting those boxes at walmart and stocking those shelves is serious business. Through this fine trade and extremely technical job, Shitzo has learned the finer points of Gynecology. Walmart has prepared him to give expert advice on exercise and pregnancy.
From WEBMD
Maintaining a regular exercise routine throughout your pregnancy can help you stay healthy and feel your best. It can also improve your posture and decrease some common discomforts like backaches and fatigue. There is evidence that it may prevent gestational diabetes (diabetes that develops during pregnancy), relieve stress, and build more stamina needed for labor and delivery.
If you were physically active before your pregnancy, you should be able to continue your activity in moderation. Don't try to exercise at your former level; instead, do what's most comfortable for you now. Low impact aerobics are encouraged versus high impact. Do not let your heart rate exceed 140 beats per minute. The pregnant competitive athlete should be closely followed by an obstetrical provider.
If you have never exercised regularly before, you can safely begin an exercise program during pregnancy after consulting with your health care provider. Do not try a new, strenuous activity. Walking is considered safe to initiate when pregnant. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends 30 minutes or more of moderate exercise per day on most if not all days of the week, unless you have a medical or obstetric complication.

Sorry Brah, that is a very individual answer. It says moderation. Walking is considered safe for woman new to working out.
So in conclusion.......... exercise at your own risk.
-
So bouncing up and down on a treadmill (let's say at 9 months prego) is healthy for the baby?
Right, because being on a treadmill, necessarily, involves "bouncing"... because it's not like women walk or do other activities while pregnant... because doctors don't advise (http://www.nhs.uk/start4life/Pages/walking-activity-during-pregnancy.aspx) pregnant women to walk.
You don't think the kid is bouncing in a water globe?
What I think is not relevant. My thoughts and opinions are not binding on other people.
Where are the scientists? Not the Narcissists.
Well, I don't know if a medical doctor and spokeswoman for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists qualifies as a scientist, but here's what Dr. Laura Riley, a high-risk pregnancy expert, has to say: "You need to be physically active during pregnancy. It has terrific benefits that are associated with a better pregnancy outcome and even shorter labors. It's a win-win for baby and for mom." (source (http://www.webmd.com/baby/features/exercise-during-pregnancy-myth-vs-fact))

No shit, you Walmart moron.
Moderation is the key. They are not endorsing a pregnant women bench press 500 pounds and I am sure the women at planet fitness was not.
Research has shown that exercise is healthy during pregnancy and perfectly fine. Plain and simple.
-

I will listen to Dr. Laura Riley over that moron, Shizzo.
A guy who works at Walmart is trying to discuss the medical field lol. Only on Getbig lol.

My energy is low Shizzo, but I'll throw these out...
Look up gestational diabetes, effects exercise will have on this.
As well as exercise's effect on reversing the slowed gastric motility (AM sickness) induced by progesterone increase in 1st trimester.
As well as what we all know about the general health benefits regarding moderate exercise for every person in every stage of the life cycle.

Give Shitzo a break.
He's never seen an actual vagina.

My point is..... It does not matter either way.
Nobody said women should get fat as hell while pregnant.
They dont have to exercise either though. Give me a break.

Do you think mothers should leave their children by large bodies of water, post birth?
Or should we get real about that too?

Nobody said women should get fat as hell while pregnant.
You said that...right here:
What's the benefit of working out while pregnant? Okay the first month..... but why bother after that.
Be fat, merry, and have a healthy baby. worry about working out after.
We've all shown you that your stance is wrong you dumb fuck. This isn't even debatable. You must be drunk.
Fat doesn't mean healthy and in most cases means the opposite....UNHEALTHY.

Obvious.

a mother in shape can have a healthy baby to, and many women that gain alot of weight during pregnacy has big problems after getting the fat that is on you lover abs away, my kids mother had while another that trained didnt get so much.
look nobody is saying they should do hardcore squats with 400 pounds etc moderation is the key, if the women loves to train why should she quit if its ot unhealthy for the kid. And those who train serious often eat healthy and thats way better then what most women do when they are pregnant : eating shit food and candy etc
-
My point is..... It does not matter either way.

if it doesnr mather either way why the fuck are you complaining. If a women loves to train why should she stop if it doesnt mather?
-

This is the walmart education speaking. You're so stupid.
You can of course have a healthy baby and be healthy yourself without going to the gym or exercising.
However, exercising just increases the chances that you will have an easier labor and recover more quickly. Research shows this. Research is not saying that you have to exercise to have a healthy baby. But the research does show that exercising while pregnant does make things easier.
This is not too difficult to comprehend, you moron.
-
What is wrong about it? You dont have to exercise to have a healthy baby.
How many pregnant women do you see in the gym?
You lack the most basic comprehension of obstetrics or pediatrics. This conversation is over your head entirely.
I will only engage you in conversations that are up your alley such as alcohol or Walmart threads.

As stated, research shows that there are MANY positive benefits to exercising while pregnant. Exercising while pregnant does make certain aspects of labor easier. Research shows this. Stop arguing with your Walmart education. You're wrong.

Exercise during pregnancy helps to alleviate many of the common problems of pregnancy. It improves circulation (which helps prevent constipation, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, leg cramps, and swelling of the ankles). It also prevents back pain by strengthening the muscles that support the back. Pregnancy often leaves women feeling less energetic, but regular exercise can give you more energy to make it through the day. Your strengthened cardiovascular system will give you more endurance, and stronger muscles will allow you to accomplish tasks with less effort, leaving you more energy to continue through the rest of your day. Some women enjoy prenatal yoga. Shop Yoga Exercise also allows you to sleep better. Most women have some trouble sleeping through the night by the end of their pregnancies. Exercising on a regular basis (and making sure it’s at least three hours before you go to bed) will help you work off excess energy and will tire you enough to lull you into a deeper, more restful slumber. Exercise has been shown to improve your mood. Also lessen mood swings, improve your self-image, and allow you to feel a sense of control. Exercise helps prepare you for childbirth. Some studies suggest that the fitness level of the mother can result in a shorter labor, fewer medical interventions, and less exhaustion during labor. Being in shape will not decrease the pain, but it definitely will help give you the endurance needed to get through labor. Most experts agree that gaining more than the recommended 25 to 35 pounds (for a woman of normal weight) during pregnancy makes it harder to lose the weight after the baby is born. By maintaining your fitness level during pregnancy, you are less likely to gain excess weight. Exercise also maintains your muscle tone and strength.
