NBA isn't that huge over in the UK we now who Johnson, Jordan and a couple of others are but largely that's it anyway about 20 years back I recall a huge media drama over Magic announcing he had AIDS. Er whats happened since then? As hes still live and well and no one seems to mention the AIDS anymore? Did he magically cure himself?

What pisses me off is I saw some doc, could've been a 30/30, where they showed MJ as being some hero for coming out as positive. However, previous to that people were protesting at a school at some kid who innocently contracted it from a transfusion. One made a mistake getting it and is a hero, another made no mistake and was villified and suffered massively.

HIV has been easily managed with meds since the late 90s. When on meds, very rarely does it develop into full blown AIDS. When it does, it is usually because of something else, like crystal meth. (Hard to remember to take your pills on schedule when you're on a 3-5 day binge.) I have many friends who have been positive since the 80s and are doing fine today.

I've heard from some news stories about the FDA and their ineptitude of testing new drugs and approvals. They say they are so backlogged that the big pharmas are able to use their money to push ahead other small drug companies in line for approvals and that there may be cures for cancer and AIDS already submitted and can take 5-10 years before the FDA ever even gets to them and evaluate the drugs. Such a scam.

Yes, some people have side effects from some of the HIV meds. But there are enough different types of meds now that you simple find a combination that works for you.
in the late 90s many people were developing lipodystrophy from some HIV meds. those meds are simply not used regularly any more. HIV meds generally don't put any significant stress on your liver. They can cause increases in triglycerides and cholesterol. So, you monitor those and deal with it.
