This never gets old. A young and very thin Magnus breaks 6'10" Nathan Jones arm at the 1995 WSM competition. Magnus would gain another 85 pounds or so throughout his strongman career.

Weird seeing Magnus so thin. Crazy genetic strength.

I remember Jones' brief stint in the WWE. Dude is freakishly strong. Magnus' superior technique and arm wrestling experience won him this battle.

From what I heard, he left as he found the travelling schedules exhausting and also had difficulty learning the scripts due to his dyslexia.
His strength in the ring was very impressive as you'd expect. He literally could toss opponents around like rag dolls.

It is, but strength and technique is the fatality.
I was just saying while jones is strong, Magnus has a far better track record and better lifts all around. So it doesn't suprise me that he wins this, he is stronger and better at it, hence fucking him up.

At that point were his lifts better? Obviously he went on to win the big one so was obviously the stronger man later on.
Used to love wsm, seems to have lost the personalities and camaraderie of the 80's and 90's, Much like boxing.

He's slimmed down a bit, but it's understandable, a few of the guys from that era have had health problems in the last few years, so many are dropping weight.

Nathan was simply an inexperience arm wrestler simply trying to use pure side pressure on Magnus. Magnus as you can see was using a posting style toproll technique which the great John Brzenk demonstrates here. He then let his arm get into the arm break position.

Do you know what the reason for this was? He always came across quite well in interviews I've seen him in.

i can still vividly remember that happening. another thing what made that year stay in the memory was bodybuilder, curtis leffler competing fresh from some bb contest. it wasn't pretty :-\

Nathan's arm didn't heal well and he had trouble locking out on overhead lifts at the next WSM which resulted in him not making it thru the heats as most of his overhead log lifts were not counted due to one arm not locking out.
I remember him being fuckin furious :D
