I've incorporated some of the things you said and they work. I can't be doing the miles of cardio though. I just burn my legs out on the eliptical before each work out.

by not locking out any pressing movement over the years
that means the tricep is never full pressed out in this move
and over time maybe this could lead to less than perfect tricep development and even shortening
?

But, you're also not contracting 100%, which means you could be missing out on getting the girls with your huge triceps while you're young.

Your coach is wrong imo. Chest exercises shouldn't be with full lockout if you are training for muscle and not strength.
Triceps exercises are where you focus 100% on triceps. CG bench press gets a full lockout as the intention is to squeeze the triceps at the top.

when you lockout at the top of close grip bench, the tricep is fully extended so it is tensed/squeezed at the top. A lot of people even keep the range of motion half way down to the top to keep the tension on the triceps.
Do this and you will get to 18 inches no homo

Locking out is a lazy way to train you are resting at the top keep constant tension on the muscle and lock out when you are finished.

I always lock out on cg's and over head skulls etc... Id wager my triceps are better than the above posters..

always lock out to, for a brief second at start of set but longer towards end in order to extend set.. I look like shit but Tris are by far one of my better bodyparts.
