The dudes are pretty good dancers. They nailed dancing in high heels. Some of their moves were a little camp, but overall it was a good performance.

Furthermore, the performance appears to be in a high school gym and attended by fellow students and family. Hardly a gay venue.

Supposedly this is what led us to the term, "Drag", or "dressed as girl". For example, "Froderick enters stage left dressed as girl (drag)".
I have no clue if it is true or not and first heard this definition over 40 years ago and have never bothered to look it up in a book or on the interwebs, but makes sense to me.
