just got back from doing afew things this morning and i get home around 930 this morning,kick off my shoes and start dressing for the gym,all of a sudden i hear a chubby knock on my door,u can always tell when a fat broads knocking on your door for some reason.i peak out my window n sure enough its a fat broad with folder in her hand,i hide awhile until she leaves.she leaves paper saying call her ASAP.SO I JUST GOT BACK FROM DOING A NASTY DELT WORKOUT AND i call her,she tells her name and says this is regarding my childs safety.i said say what u gotta say n get it over with cause i gotta do things, she said the neighbor saw me knock my sons tooth our in back yard and my son bleeding,the neighbor forgot to mention we had muay thia pads and i knocked his tooth out when he was holdin pad for me when i was showing him a kick,he wasnt holding it tight enough n the pad knocked his baby tooth out. anyway the fat lady started trying to tell me i shouldnt be doing that so i made a loud sound of a cow n said u cant tell me how to raise my son,i said leave me alone and go after the real sickos out there molesting thier kids and beating them really bad and leave good dads like me alone.before my son started school as was working nights in a gym and would work from midnight till 8am,then come home and watch him all day changing diapers and feeding him,then my wife got home from work at 7pm and she would take over while i slept 3 and a half hrs,did this for years and my son was/is a happy kid,how the hell is some greay ass fat broad gonna tell me different.i work hard for my son and im not rich but give him everything i can,ill go without things just so he can be happy.fuck those people in social services,they should be after the real bad guys

He would got mad one day because I couldn't hit a pitch when he was practicing with me (baseball) he lost his temper and whipped the ball at me. When I look back though he spent so much time with me he loved me a lot! I'm very lucky!
He started running me when I was 11-12. He took me to the track 5 days a week and made me run timed miles! Very early on I could run a sub 6 minute mile. I could run 5 miles easy. I dominated in all the sports I did because I was trained like a high level athlete and all the other kids were just being kids He ingrained work ethic into me. I owe him everything.

sounds like me to the t,i dont mean to yell at him but i get frustrated sometimes.it happens at wrestling practice alot,if he gets takendown i go ape shit and start yelling out load on how he should counter it next time.im gonna start taking it easier on him with the sports tho cause im up his ass hard pushing him to be the best player around,i just want him to be good at whatever he does,the other night i was helping him with homework n he couldnt write a word properly and i lost it on him,he started crying then i felt like shit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's dad whipped balls at him! When I walked on to a Div one college football field I was thankful to him. He sadly has Alzheimer's now. :(

OK not sure every father has knocked his kid's tooth out but even rough housing with your kid you go too far sometimes. People have to use common sense when reporting this shit - a well treated kid doesn't spend recreational time playing with father in their garden all the time.
I know parents whose teenage kids have acted like complete dicks and called the police making up bullshit and a social worker is automatically assigned to the house. Once they realise it is a bullshit tactic used by kid they should either drop it or ask parents what they want to do (get police to caution re hoax calling for example).

In some states, they are also assigned 70-100 cases. This is a systemic issues. Social workers in California went on strike last year because of the work overload. Imagine having to look after 70-100 families and one slip up, could cost you your license. Its not as clear cut as, "They waste time on insignificant cases then let the badly treated kids go because the parents are hostile and threaten legal action." I know from very personal experience.
There are many bad social workers out there. However, there are many good ones who are overloaded with cases and paperwork and it impossible to keep up with in a 40 hour week. The whole social work system needs to be overhauled.

yes, because no matter what, you have to assume the kid is telling the truth. Because the one time you think the kid is lying, could cost the child their life. I have seen many cases where social workers become very savvy to the kids antics and do not fall for their lies. They still have to investigate the case according to state law, but may not turn it into a "big" thing if they know the kid has a history of lying.
Its easy to sit on the sideline and knock them, until you truly understand the shit social workers deal with every day. The profession has a high burn out rate. just like there are bad social workers, there also bad doctors, dentists, lawyers, engineers, etc. every profession has their share of people who are just not good at what they do and some are better than others.

Seems a little harsh. Are you a pro athlete these days? Different strokes for different folks I guess.
The approach I take with my daughter is to encourage her involvement in sports, support her efforts and reward accomishments, but also support her decisions regarding what sports she chooses pursue more than others. I do the same with school, but take a bit more active approach (i.e. Spending time with her on school work, exercising patience when she gets frustrated or agitated if she doesn't understand something right away, and give her the room to develop her own solutions).
I couldn't be happier with my strategy. She's 15, plays several sports but excels at hockey and soccer. Highest overall marks the last 2 years, including highest math and science marks those yrs. I don't recall once loosing my cool or forcing her to do anything. I questioned if I should be a bit more dictatorial on a few occassions, but I couldn't do it. More than one way to skin a cat I guess.

The law requires every complaint be investigated. Additionally, people working in certain professions, such as in education and the medical profession are required by law to report anything suspicious with regards to children regardless of whether they are at work or not.
You may not like having child protective services come to your home to interrogate you, but that is their job.
If there is a reasonable explanation that resolves the issue, the parent or person suspected of child abuse is probably off the hook. I wouldn't recommend you knock any more of his teeth out though. Your excuse might be a little harder to swallow should there be a next time.
One time our son came home from little league complaining he'd been hit in the head with a ball. At the same time our daughter fell down the basement stairs. We took them both to the hospital to be checked because we were worried about them having concussions. We got the third degree from the hospital staff and they interviewed our son and daughter as well.

There is definitely a systemic problem. It enrages me that someone who does a fairly unimportant job (take your pick of office jobs or ANY civil service job) gets paid more than carers for the old, handicapped or social workers. Binmen get paid more than carers in England. What message does it send when people who dispose of rubbish get paid more than people who take care of the elderly?
That said, parents of these children suffer such stress because of the unnecessary invasions into their lives. You have to see it from both sides and I think you are only seeing it from one side. Regardless of staffing levels, if you are busting your ass to bring up a child and they are being a total dick and social services bear down on you it would be pretty demeaning and demoralising. Especially when you foster a child from a heroin addict who social services paid no attention to and you spoil her with private education, holidays and a good home.

damn, i feel really sorry for your kid. id hate to have a father like that. my pops always encouraged me to play sports, but never forced me or yelled at me if i messed up.

It was he was harsh but I needed it. I never would of played all the sports I did. I did all three seasons 7th Grade through high school and football in college. If it was up too me I would of been getting high with my friends or some kind of other troubles.
I will learn from his mistakes though. I had some problems with anxiety whole life because of the amount of pressure I felt at such a young age. I was a real sensitive kid he realizes now he could of approached things a little different. Like if I had a bad game or made bad plays I would look over at him and I could just tell he was seething with anger. He would yell at me on the way home loose his temper. I won't do that. I will have my kids exercise when they are young though get them into ftiness early.

However, you are correct in that all cases of child abuse must be reported and investigated, no matter rich or poor. Yes, social workers do go into middle class or rich areas, but they tend to visit low income families much more.
I have known cases where middle class and rich people have been investigated for abuse allegations. It just happens more in low-income communities.

cool man thanks for explaining that cause i wasnt sure what he meant,im not poor but not rich either,i guess middle class,i own my own house in a decent neighborhood,put it this way u dont have to lock your car doors at night when sleeping.i used to live in a prety high crime area but when my son was born me and my wife sacrificed alot just to give him a better life, im struggling everyday just to keep my sanity and not lose it and go back on drugs cause of the pressure, thats why i come on these boards to laugh alittle and relax,if i have another setback with opiates ill prolly end up in jail or dead cause i just dont know when to stop.im getting up every day man trying to make it in a unforgiving world

i hear u bro, i do read the comments but most of the time when people say that they r just joking,i hope they r anyway.been thru the legal system before and spent some time behind bars when i was still a teenager and dont want to go thru that hell again,went in as a teenager and got out at the drinking age of 21. ive learned to get my point across without any TERRORISTIC THREATS being made or any bodily contact so they can nail me with assault,fuck that shit im not getting caught out there again

Alex and AnnaA Sacramento couple is without their 5 month old baby after Child Protective Services sent in the police to forcibly remove the child from their care.
A hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2013 on the incident which was triggered when Anna Nikolayev and her husband Alex took baby Sammy out of Sutter Memorial Hospital and sought a second opinion at Kaiser Permanente, a rival hospital, for Sammy’s flu-like symptoms.
Anna and Alex were concerned about the quality of care baby Sammy was receiving at Sutter where he was admitted nearly two weeks ago. At one point, Anna questioned the antibiotics Sammy was being given and was alarmed that the nurse administering the treatment didn’t know why the child was receiving them. Anna claims that a doctor later said that Sammy should not have been receiving the medication.
When doctors began discussing the possibility of heart surgery, the parents decided to leave without a proper discharge in order to have the child examined elsewhere.
“If we got the one mistake after another, I don’t want to have my baby have surgery in the hospital where I don’t feel safe,” Anna said.
She added, “We went from one hospital to another. We just wanted to be safe, that he is in good hands.”
While at Kaiser Permanente, the police showed up at the request of Sutter. The police told the parents that staff at Sutter had told them that the child was in such a bad state that, as Anna put it, “they thought that this baby is dying on our arms.”
After the police saw that baby Sammy was fine and examined medical records that clearly stated that Sammy was clinically safe to go home, they left.
The attending doctor at Kaiser said, “I do not have concern for the safety of the child at home with his parents.”
The next day, police came to Alex and Anna’s home.
Alex met them outside and was slammed against the wall and pushed to the ground.
His keys to the home were forcibly removed from him and the police entered the house to take the baby.
Anna’s home video of the incident shows police entering the home.
“I’m going to grab your baby, and don’t resist, and don’t fight me ok?” a Sacramento police officer is heard saying in the video.
News10 of Sacramento spoke with police on the situation and were told to talk to Child Protective Services. CPS said little about the case, only saying on Thursday, April 27 that the child was taken due to severe neglect. CPS spokesperson Laura McCasland said, “We conduct a risk assessment of the child’s safety and rely heavily on the direction of health care providers.”
No additional details were provided.
Sammy is currently in “protective custody” at Sutter Memorial Hospital. Hospital officials refused to comment saying the case was with CPS and law enforcement and they would have to deliver a statement.
Alex sums up the situation well.
“It seems like parents have no right whatsoever,” he said.
Indeed.
Parents are increasingly becoming irrelevant when it comes to decisions regarding their children’s medical care. Jodi and Scott Ferris experienced a similar traumatic event when they questioned the Hep B vaccination for their baby at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Their baby was also taken by CPS.
The moral of this story? Tick off doctors and nurses at a hospital and they could very well sic CPS on you – with police breaking down your door in short order.
Think long and hard before taking your children to the hospital my friends. Once you go through that door, the medical decisions about your child are no longer within your control.

I don't know what kind of temper you have or what kind of guy you have but by the sounds of your previous experiences you are probably versed in the art of remaining calm and handling things peacefully in a non terrorist manor. Thats a rough age to be in jail too , young man that is still learning right from wrong at that point in life.

cool man thanks for explaining that cause i wasnt sure what he meant,im not poor but not rich either,i guess middle class,i own my own house in a decent neighborhood,put it this way u dont have to lock your car doors at night when sleeping.i used to live in a prety high crime area but when my son was born me and my wife sacrificed alot just to give him a better life, im struggling everyday just to keep my sanity and not lose it and go back on drugs cause of the pressure, thats why i come on these boards to laugh alittle and relax,if i have another setback with opiates ill prolly end up in jail or dead cause i just dont know when to stop.im getting up every day man trying to make it in a unforgiving world

CPS workers are dealing with families where the children are psychotic or that have been severely neglected and/or abused. thanks man for the positive advice,ive been thru hell in my life,addicted to drugs at 9 yrs old and homeless at 16,i was lucky to have a uncle who helped me though.ive learned to be strong from having to start out with all that misfortune.sometimes hard times can make a person stronger or it can keep u in the streets,depends on the person i guess and how much they wanna make it

Try not to make a bigger deal out of this than it is. Like I said, the law requires social services or child protective services to investigate any suspicion of child abuse, no matter how innocent the event. Just be honest with them as you suggested you were.
Keep in mind the social worker is not picking on you personally. At this point it was just her investigating a complaint.
Life can be rough sometimes. You are tougher than you think. Stay strong and you'll be fine. Whatever you do, don't fall back on the crutch of drugs. You are smart enough to know that will only exasperate whatever problems you think you have. Like you suggest, take life day by day. Each day you get through drug free is a great day, no matter what else happens.
Your son needs you. You're a good dad. You spend time with him, unlike many dads who are absent in their kids lives. Just remember he's a little kid and go easy on him when teaching him how to be the man you hope he will grow up to be. Teach by example. It is the best way.

i appreciate the advice,i really do cause just today i felt myself getting edgy and i was ready to call the lady and tell her to go fuck off,i dont think that woulda been to smart after hearing your advice as well as the other great advice i just recieved. im gonna stay calm and i have nothing to hide, my real dad beat me so bad when i was a little kid the state took me from him to protect me so i know what a bad dad is,thanks again man i appreciate it

You are right, it would devastate you son if you did something that robbed him of your company and fathering him. Sons need their fathers. We see evidence of what happens when fathers are absent in their kids lives all the time and the results aren't encouraging.

just got back from doing afew things this morning and i get home around 930 this morning,kick off my shoes and start dressing for the gym,all of a sudden i hear a chubby knock on my door,u can always tell when a fat broads knocking on your door for some reason.i peak out my window n sure enough its a fat broad with folder in her hand,i hide awhile until she leaves.she leaves paper saying call her ASAP.SO I JUST GOT BACK FROM DOING A NASTY DELT WORKOUT AND i call her,she tells her name and says this is regarding my childs safety.i said say what u gotta say n get it over with cause i gotta do things, she said the neighbor saw me knock my sons tooth our in back yard and my son bleeding,the neighbor forgot to mention we had muay thia pads and i knocked his tooth out when he was holdin pad for me when i was showing him a kick,he wasnt holding it tight enough n the pad knocked his baby tooth out. anyway the fat lady started trying to tell me i shouldnt be doing that so i made a loud sound of a cow n said u cant tell me how to raise my son,i said leave me alone and go after the real sickos out there molesting thier kids and beating them really bad and leave good dads like me alone.before my son started school as was working nights in a gym and would work from midnight till 8am,then come home and watch him all day changing diapers and feeding him,then my wife got home from work at 7pm and she would take over while i slept 3 and a half hrs,did this for years and my son was/is a happy kid,how the hell is some greay ass fat broad gonna tell me different.i work hard for my son and im not rich but give him everything i can,ill go without things just so he can be happy.fuck those people in social services,they should be after the real bad guys

You have to be yourself. There's lots of advice for parents available. Take it with a grain of salt, not that it is bad advice, but every situation is just a little different.
If you can avoid yelling at your son, do that. It probably doesn't accomplish much anyway. You can simply express that you know he can do better.
If you can learn to encourage your son by complimenting him when he does well at something, you will do more for him than you could ever do criticizing him or worse yelling at him. Let him fall every now and then. We often learn more by making mistakes then we do always getting things right.
I suspect you learned a lot from your past mistakes from what you've posted here.
