Bond 24 is officially called Spectre, director Sam Mendes has revealed.
At a livestream today from the 007 stage at Pinewood Studios in England, Mendes confirmed the title and also revealed many of the casting rumours we heard were true.
New additions to the cast include Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista as Mister Hinx and Sherlock's Andrew Scott as Denby. The new Bond girls, meanwhile, will be The Matrix's Monica Bellucci and Inglourious Basterds' Lea Seydoux.
The biggest casting news, however, has to be the fact that Christoph Waltz will indeed star in the film. Mendes didn't elaborate on what role he'll play but the Bond Twitter reports it'll be as Oberhauser, rather than his rumoured role of Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
Shooting for the film begins on Monday morning, with rehearsals currently ongoing. The official synopsis reads: "A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre." Locations include London, Rome, Mexico City, Morocco and snow-covered Austria, with shooting expected to last for seven months.
Much of the original team from Skyfall return, including all-important writers John Logan, Robert Wade and Neal Purvis, though new additions include editor Lee Smith and Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema.
Mendes rounded out the presentation by confirming Rory Kinnear will return as MI6 chief of staff Bill Tanner, Ben Whishaw is back as Q, Naomie Harris is Moneypenny and Ralph Fiennes will step in Judi Dench's shoes as M. Finally, we also got a tantalising glimpse at the new Aston Martin DB10
The film is due out on November 6, 2015
As a large mega Bond fan I'm incredibly excited about this news, we haven't heard of Spectre or Blofeld in a Bond movie since the Connery and Moore days!
Bodybuilding related because Daniel Craig works out for the role...
-
If only BillyZane would have played the bond, it would be a perfect cast

Queue GTHANG to post how Idris Elba or some other negro actor should be Bond

Will Smith would surely not hesitate. Denzel I imagine would talk himself into that he's able too

who the fuck is christoph waltz?

Great actor. This guy is fantastic in every role I've seen him play.

Waltz will be a great villain, fantastic character actor.
Bellucci is pushing 50 but I'd still like to examine her wizard's sleeve.

He was great even in green hornet. Django was to me (thankfully) more his movie as well.

Skyfall was so bad and so sentimental I thought for sure they were wrapping up this burrito franchise.

Lol, they should have included Daniel Stern & Joe Pesci in Strike Force Fuckwit that came after him!

Great news, he acted rings around Will Smith in Django Unchained, made the whole movie.

Are u kidding me? Skyfall was probably the best Bond ever.

What?! Albert Cauliflower was rolling in the grave!

and yours truly, Dave" the animal" Bautista will play Mr Hinx in the new james bond.....I'm glad Dave is finally getting a streak going on the Big Screen......he'll get many more roles coming his way I'm sure.......I'm sure this white Broad in the background is thinking what would dave do to her in bed.. ;D
-
Glad they are bringing Bond back to his roots with SPECTRE: the Special Executive for Counterintelligience, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion. The worldwide criminal organization has been behind the events of three of the original Ian Fleming Bond novels and the Bond films including, "Dr. No", "From Russia With Love", "Thunderball", "You Only Live Twice", "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", and "Diamonds Are Forever".
-
I like it when James Bond shoots people, then makes explosions and sleeps with women. Would I like to do these things in real life? Heh, you bet your shit I would.
-
so i'm guessing batista will be playing some kind of jaws/oddjob type henchman that can take all kinds of punishment. That shit worked in the 60's/70's, not now when they made the recent films more serious and gritty
-
Bond was awesome - UNTIL he started doing stunts that were impossible.
The one they did at the north pole with invisible cars flying around - that one jumped the shark. It was all over after that.
Bond was so likeable because he was a human being with remarkable charm and brains. Suddenly he's a ninja with a Rambo-capacity magazine.

The most certain path to death in any Bond film is to sleep with 007. Virtually every woman he sleeps with dies... including his beloved wife in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. He should have known better than to marry that woman! :'(

she gets wasted in her car while theyre on their way to the honeymoon?
I must have seen that movie 20 or 25 years ago and still remember that scene vividly. That was some cold stuff right there.

Correct. Casual fans and observers forget that Bond did, in fact, get married once upon a time. :'(
-
George Lazenby (1969) was the least favorite james bonds....this was a sure Flop...the only reason he got to play Bond was because Connery said he was done with playing Bond at that time. Eventually, Connery came back after this flop, but the 1970's belonged to Roger Moore
-
Are u kidding me? Skyfall was probably the best Bond ever.
I don't think it was the best Bond ever, but definitely a great title song...

Pretty sure Bond has AIDS by now. probably after fucking that tall Afriacan negress
-
roger moore was awesome. sean connery gets all the attention because he slaps women on SNL jeopardy... and daniel Craig thinks he's halle berry moving slow-mo shirtless.
But IMO the idea of james bond is that he's a spy. He can pass for a regular dude, then slyly save his country. Craig looks like a bodybuilder and is way too emotional and trigger happy.

Dave's daughter has had many "roles" on the big screen that involve projectile load releasing upon her facial region.

it would have been fun if Bautista pop up in that room and seeing that dude laying a smackdown on his daughter....lol

I agree the north pole bond movie with the ice palace and invisible car was garbage. The wave that Bond rode had terrible CGI - it looked like a video game.
However Casino Royale was extremely well done and had a level of realism and grittiness never before seen in the Bond franchise. Quantum of Solace and Skyfall were ok but could never match Casino Royale.
I like the Bourne movies but of them all Casino Royale is the best imo.
-
cam't wait yahooo, yupee kaiayyy mfer oh wait that's another movie.... ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

It's been said that because of the Bourne movies, they had to had to add grittiness and realism to the films. A Jason Bourne is something that may be plausible. But a James Bond...a spy who drives expensive Aston Martins, BMWs, Lotus, etc and has high tech gadgets...basically calling attention to himself? Not really plausible.

Interesting - I can see that. yes, the Jason Bourne movies were gritty. I even liked Jeremy Renner - they could have kept him but Matt Damon gets the job done as well.
-
Like when the Mission impossible series became a silly action franchise with motorbike stunts a la john woo
Agreed with both... Rewatching MI2 just right now, the only good thing is the villain Dougray Scott, crap movie... MI3 sucked also, Phantom Protocol just decent, original MI still the best by far...roger moore was awesome. sean connery gets all the attention because he slaps women on SNL jeopardy... and daniel Craig thinks he's halle berry moving slow-mo shirtless.

Absolutely agree...
-
True... in real life, a successful "spy" would be driving a Hyundai and wearing cargo shorts with a $10 TJ Maxx t-shirt.
-
There isn't a dud Bond movie really - some of them are over the top with the gadgets, but suspension of disbelief has always been a requirement with Bond.
-
A Secret Service agent made the joke, "'James Bond', and especially 'The Man From Uncle', are the professional wrestling of covert operations."
-

If you read the books, they were a mix of comic book character villains and semi Captain America antics.

Blofeld and Bundt in the car. Solid flick. If only Connery had hung around for that one.

Is Craig back? Surprises me Bond isn't a hebrew yet.

What does he drink? Since Vodka Martini's are clearly offensive towards women or a race.
Rum coke?

Idris Elba could totally pull it off. If a hebrew was to get the job he'd get my vote.

Good choice and I agree.

I'd see Christoper Walken as a great James Bond. Just imagine him saying, with his very unique way of talking...
"my name is Bond, James Bond"
It would be epic!!!
Would need good stunt man for fight scenes though....

Without a doubt, the worst Bond movie ever made.
-
Without a doubt, the worst Bond movie ever made.
No way...ok it wasnt great but any Roger Moore movie is still better than any of the other sell out shite from Pierce Brosnan period onwards.
Driving fucking BMW's and Xenadrine EFX adverts on the side of lorries.
Now bond drives a ford focus and drinks Heineken. There has been no franchise that has sold out to the advertisers more than Bond.
The key formula to good bond films is simple
Ian Fleming + Cubby Broccoli + John Barry + Sean Connery/Roger Moore = Classic James Bond movie
They ran out of fleming stories, Broccoli is dead and they gave John Barry the boot. They cant even find decent singers to do the title songs anymore.
-
They cant even find decent singers to do the title songs anymore.
But Adele was fantastic! Hope she returns for the next.

He made for a crappy villain in the crappy 'A View to a Kill.'
The guy exploding in the pressurized tank was nauseating though and pure evil!
-

What's changed now in this "Modern" bond-film is that Bautista is playing a Jaws/Oddjob-character that is much more realistic, ie he will cry out in pain when Cristolph Waltz steps on his toes or twists his forearm giving him the "Thousand Needles"-treatment.
More serious, and more gritty.
He won't be able to take the Punishment Waltz will deliver.
-

he was in that? I gotta see...
-
I thought walken was a good villain, gunning down his own minions while laughing manically is quite memorable.
Look out for dolph lundgren making his first movie appearance as a henchman or bodyguard and grace Jones overhead pressing a grown man. No camera trick required ;)

Agreed... Max Zorin was a great villain... A View To A Kill is good, had potential, epic soundtrack by John Barry, decent plot, only the mighty Roger Moore was too old... For sure far better than Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall and Die Another Day, in my opinion...
-
I surprised to learn Roger was pushing 59 when he made a view to a kill. Ok at times he looked a bit too old for the character in certain scenes but I didn't think he was that old. Still had enough charisma and wit to get a pass. Funny thing is Roger was so popular in the role the studio wanted him to sign up for the next two but he said enoughs enough and didn't want to put to role up to ridicule.
I really couldn't accept Dalton when he took over, like with Daniel Craig his movies changed the tone, became grittier, more real but he was just too bland. I appreciate his two movies more these days but Moore's are so much easier to watch flicking through the channels I can pick up midway and finish them out

Melvin Bond will be the new star of the Bond series. The villain he is trying to catch is Billy Guns. Billy Guns is threatening to destroy the global Bitcoin market and Melvin Bond can't allow that to happen.
After a long chase over several continents, Melvin Bond and Billy Guns finally face each other in a fist fight at a Sylva, NC Walmart. After at one point being held back by a former transsexual lover, Melvin Bond manages to restrain Billy Guns in a wrestling grip, and they are now both on the floor. As Billy Guns struggles to catch his breath, Melvin Bond whispers in his ear in a lustful voice: "Now that I have you trapped, I will force my tongue deep in your asshole, and there is nothing you can do about it".

yeah I thought he was a great villain too, always remember the scene in the mine shooting his workers and laughing. Like you said the soundtrack was great as was the Duran Duran song. Definately better that everything that came later.

I didnt like Dalton at first, but like you I started to like him more, in fact to some degree I feel sorry for him, just being in the wrong place following Roger Moore. Timothy Dalton is probably by far the most accomplished actor in terms of his background. He did most of his own stunts and it was him and Cubby Broccoli that intended to portray Bonds character more in line with how Ian Fleming had described him in his books.
I think he could have grown into the films more, but at the end of the day, the winning formula was coming to an end and it was heading towards becoming one big advert featuring Pierce Brosnan.
-
Do you know why Dalton didn't return for a third?
What's funny is Daltons two reset the formula, harder, no gadgets (that I remember) then brosnan and co nailed it with goldeneye, only to decline steadily with each entry while reverting back to Moore's formula but becoming ludicrous. I mean the sub car was somewhat believable it fitted but the invisible car, even the Moore films wouldn't have done something so stupid.

No don't know what happened but I think he always had plenty of work coming his way so probably chose to pursue other avenues.
Brosnan had the looks and style but I just never liked him that much for some reason. I think it was just the whole commercialization of the films was getting too much. Of course once we then got the PC brigade getting involved with a female M and other nonsense it just killed it for me. The absurd invisible car was ridiculous, but then there was Moonraker with its laser gun battles in space :-) Still I liked Moonraker. Hugo Drax was another great bad guy and he pulled off his megalomaniac role perfectly.
-
ha, i thought of moonraker as i wrote that but its still not as stupid as an invisible car, it has alot of entertainment value, jaws and cable car spring to mind, jaws killing a shark with his own jaws, classic! ;D
Moonraker wasn't actually next in line but they rushed it into development with it's space story to ride on the hype of star wars, it worked.
Moonraker, anyone? ;D

yea the pc brigade always rears its ugly head.
just read that there was a legal dispute which delayed a third film and dalton was released from his contract to pursue other roles, mgm then decied to have an overhaul which saw brosnan debut in goldeneye

I think Moonraker's nonsense was made stark because The Spy Who Loved Me was really quite good.
-
A few things, Dalton played an amazing Bond, if anyone has seen License to Kill you know what I mean. His two movies make my top 10 Bonds. Moonraker is campy and I love it, funniest of the series and there's nothing wrong with that, in the end it's just entertainment. Also, Pierce Brosnan could of been the "perfect" Bond but after Goldeneye he just had shit writing to work with so it's not his fault. At least half of Die Another Day was good, but literally half, everything goes downhill when he gets to that ice palace.
-
Ever notice that Spectre and Marvel's Hydra have similar logos? Just saying.
-
I love Monica but she's too old to be a Bond girl. The other girl, who got noticed for licking twat in "Blue is the warmest color" is an overall 6. Bond girls are supposed to start at 9s! >:(

That would ruin the whole Bond legacy.

Yes!!! ;D
He has charm and an ability to express the finer nuances of wit that is becoming of a Bond.
Craig is not quite the image of a suave agent, more like a boxer from a poor neighbourhood, a British Rocky(?).
-
Dwarfed him, no, if she wore 4" heels at 5'7" next to his 5'10" she'd only be slightly taller as he'd have extra height in normal shoes anyway. But as they say he should be taller than her at all times coz it looks better for the part onscreen.
I thought all the bonds were over 6ft, would never have thought craig was too short for the role

I stood right next to Craig at the SD Comic-Con a few years ago. I was slightly taller than him and I am 5'9". Craig is around 5'8".

LOL yes, having Will Smith as James Bond would be like him playing such an iconic character like Deadshot or similar.
Inconceivable!

Yeah i was gonna say this. both him and hardy are about 5'8. actors always lie about their height. tom cruise likes to claim he's 5'7 lol. maybe in high heels.
It's not just actors, men in general lie about their height. Either that or they don't know what their actual height really is and just make a random guess.
