TCU is ranked 3, beats their opposition by 52 and drops to number 6.
In pro sports too many players fold up once they get the big money and rely on teammates.
PGA golf on the other hand is based on you get paid that week on how well you perform, no 5 or 9 year contracts. Its based on you you and you and no teammates.
Team sports are lame as fuck

right on the money sir

I got out of team sports when I was 16 and got into martial arts and weight lifting. I even played handball for many years (singles play). I enjoyed the more solitary activities where the victory is my own. Kind of stinks to share your win with 20 other people. And as you stated, there are those team mates who will purposely slack.
-
I can't even watch a full game of anything and I played sports all through high school and college. Only thing I truly enjoy is mma.
-
You think that picking a sport (MMA) and Bodybuilding (Contest) where you win by judges is better than team sports because you control the outcome? :-\
I guess you can always get the TKO or KO in MMA but you don't control your destiny at all in bodybuilding.

Get real, bodybuilding is not a sport, it's beauty contest with no rules for people with mental disabilities.
Olympic weightlifting and chess are the most fair within that framework.
They are about you and you only, with strict and transparent rules.
-
Someone got a big wad of cash given to them
-
Baylor has the same record and beat TCU and didn't get in, people in Waco are ready to riot Ferguson style, I guess they actually have a legit reason now lol
-
It all comes down to NAME. There are more people that will see "Ohio State" on the menu and tune in, versus "TCU" or "Baylor". They just don't have the name impact power.
Same way more people would tune in to watch Tiger Woods shine his ball sack, than to watch the other actual better golfers make amazing shots. Sure, you'll have the fanboys disagreeing, but we're talking general public here. Tell any douche at work that you're watching golf and his first Q will always be "Hows tiger doing today?"

All I got to say is Roll Tide :D

How does one choose which college team they like? Do you pick it based on the mascot? Logically, it would be the school that one attended, but that certainly is not the case for most fans. How does one choose?

Seriously??!! So much corruption, bias, all about who the judge favors
On top of all bbing isn't a "sport"

I cheered for Notre Dame Fighting Irish football since I was like 10. I didnt go there, I dont know anyone there, I have no idea why I chose them. A couple weeks ago I realized how fucking stupid it is that I cheer for teams that I have ZERO connection to. Its retarded and Im embarrassed. Fuck I even have a Notre Dame tattoo. No wonder Im on medication

Yeah its does get fucked up when you think about it. Most people don`t realize how arrogant and how horrible most of these football players really are. They don`t care about anyone or anything. You had that one torturing dogs for fun and the countless others robbing, raping, killing, assaulting and just generally being worthless human beings playing a children`s game. The best line is always this:

Spot on as usual, boss man.
I still remember those two tools at UHC (the New York midget named Mike and his big black buddy) who referred to their favorite teams as "we" and whose inane conversations could be heard from a block away.

Their OOC schedules were atrocious. Baylor should schedule better.

What is stranger?
1) Sitting in your room alone and watching the Mr. Olympia.
OR
2) Going to a friends house with a bunch of dudes and cheering on a sports team.

Watching Olympia's from the 90's actually motivate me to train harder. Especially the shows with Yates.

1) Sexual fantasy in a single setting.
2)Sexual fantasy in a group setting.
Its like asking someone if they like rice or beans on their taco. Just depends on what one is in the mood for I suppose.

I think this is a very good thing! Hobbies are much better than watching someone else make millions of dollars playing games meant for middle school children. You get so much more out of hobbies such as building a car. You learn valuable skills, get a sense of accomplishment, set goals and are actively engaged in the activity.
It takes absolutely zero thought to watch a bunch of black guys chase each other and their balls around and then watch them pray to jesus christ and then go to jail after they blow their money. Plus there is no end in sight. Its not like it matters one bit if this team wins or that team wins, they are just going to do it all over again next year which renders it all irrelevant. Even if someone`s preferred team wins the whole thing, so what? What happens next? They are done. They achieved the highest they could. What impact does that have on the fan? Happy for what really?
I assume the fan either is trying to empathize with the victory and what it took to get there, or they think they are part of the team or they just have nothing better to do. Does not matter though if any of the reasons are true, the fan gets absolutely zero benefit from any of it and there is no satisfaction either. If there were any kind of satisfaction to be had, nobody would be watching it anymore or they would stop when their desired goal is reached. So that leads me to believe people are just watching to watch and never really thought about why they are watching it, because if they did, they might realize its a lot of time wasted on a passive activity with no great benefit whatsoever.

What if the players were white? Would it be different?

Sure. Hockey watching is just as brainless.

I must admit, I enjoy watching old school bodybuilding videos, but I do not get all crazy about them. I am not cheering when a specific bodybuilder wins or anything.

I prefer number 1. I prefer to be in the privacy of my own room with my thoughts. :P :P

Don't know why I chose the college team I root for but for baseball it was passed down from my family. my grandparents who were Italian grew up in Bayonne NJ.
so they loved the Yankees and the Italian players, DiMaggio, Berra, Rizzuto.

I've always likes individual sports where you have no one but yourself to blame at the end of the day. I play soccer and hockey which I love for the fun and exercise, but any professional level team can fuck right off in my opinion. I don't buy jerseys or any other apparel for these shit teams. I always chuckle when i talk to someone who has seahawks season tickets to the tune of 1600$ along with 6 different jerseys, hats and wristbands and other crap. Grown ups with little kid fantasies living vicariously through other men who don't even know or care if they exist...always seemed pathetic to me.

If you want to see pathetic, check out some of the meltdowns on the sports board.

These fans violently defend their 'favorite' player, or quarterback or whatever....then their favorite player gets traded to another team and their little boy fantasies fall apart when they realize that player didnt give a shit about them or any other fan of that city. Grown men argue about how 'their' team is better than another cities team. When you think about it, being a die hard fan is the ultimate schmoe experience.

I don't watch any sport apart from golf or tennis. And 'favourite player'? LMFAO, I'm not an impressionable 10yo. There's some players whose skill I admire but I still wouldn't take the time to piss on them anymore than I would my neighbour nine doors down.
Being a 'fan' is something I literally don't have the capacity to understand. The closest I could get is liken in to a troop of baboons that run in a pack and would on occasion declare war against another troop of baboons over a tree or something. Pack behaviour and all that.

growing up my dad was always telling me how sports are fixed. He'd guess the winner right almost everytime for any big sporting event, world series, superbowl etc... He'd even tell me how long a series goes. he'd explain the flow of money and why a certain team will win over another. I being green thought he was full of shit and beleived everything was legit but as I get older I know exactly what he was talking about.
