Title: Gym/lifting shoes.
Post by: nighttrain on December 29, 2014, 03:05:46 AM
What brand/type of shoes do you guys use during your lifting sessions/cardio sessions/crossfit training(just for you coach ;) )? High tops or low tops, etc?

Looking to get a new pair. My Nike's are shot to shit.

Adidas power perfect 2, probably the best shoes I've ever used.

As a correlary question: why do all lifting shoes look so fucking retarded? With that stupid strap and fucking insane colors? How about a shoe with a decent heel lift that is all black with no strap?

If I need them, I use old school Chuck Taylors, FTW!

I just squat and DL in socks and wear regular sneakers the rest of the time.

If I was going to wear shoes during this exercise - I'd either wear my NB MT minimus,

or Reebok z quick:

The strap is crucial for stability

You like the minimus? I have a pair and I hate training in them. I prefer the older ones. I'm wearing those fuckers till they fall apart.

These bad boys at my gym were hardcore. With all the weight flying everywhere and all them bodily fluids, you need to be safe.

I like the ones I posted, but not for running as they were designed.  They are completely flat, so it's good for squatting and stuff.  I think the ones I have are the old ones, as I got them right when they hit the market.

Magnum Hi-Tec was the boot of choice during this period.

Depending on what is to be done.

When the Adidas wear out, I might spring for these pole joints -

Tarsal support is pretty important when you make the various catches, splits, and jerks in weightlifting, it helps combat that side blow out feeling you get with normal sneakers like a Chuck or a Adidas Samba.

As to the colors? Not a clue, but I bet it had to do with matching shoe to uniform color back in the old competition days, and just carried over. I personally like it.

Nighttrain, what kind of lifting do you do?

Maybe a few action photos of you in the Nikes would give the group a better idea on what to suggest?

There are some great deals on lifting shoes going on right now and a hardcore lifter like you should take advantage of that! What is the price range you're trying to stay in?

What size feet do you have, I'll bet a 100 dollar bill I had bigger feet in the 5th grade than you have now.

And I would bet a $100 that was squatting more than you 5th grade than you do now.

wearing them causes bullets to hit their targets more frequently hence their huge success at wiping each other out.

the adistar weightlifting shoes (which were succeeded by the orange adipower) were very good looking shoes:

I wear my pair when squatting.  Otherwise I wear the bolivars, which have a nice, minimal heel (similar to onitsuka tiger, from the looks of it):

No one mentioned Otomix yet?

Golds used to make their own brand of shoe.  I bought some from the deep discount table in Venice around '91.  No idea whatever happened to them.
